By his own reckoning, Taguchi has been Inoue's toughest opponent to date. For context: it was Taguchi's first national light fly title defence and Inoue's fourth pro fight after he'd beaten the Filipine and Thai national champs, and the top ranked contender in the national championship, and was ranked #6 when Taguchi called him out after becoming the champ. That was a big fight in Japan, and despite the wide scores in Inoue's favour, Taguchi was a tough nut to read and crack. After the loss, Taguchi went on to become the WBA champ, and defend his belt six times before getting himself the IBF belt and becoming a unified light fly champ. He retired after losing his first unified title defence to Hekkie Budler, who's challenging for Kenshiro's light fly belt tomorrow.. Taguchi came out of retirement to challenge for Kosei Tanaka's fly belt. He retired for good after losing the fight.
@@vm5954 If that was his default guard, you might have a case... He might use the L-guard/Philly shell/shoulder roll but fluidly transition out of it within a few rounds in adapting to his opponent, like he did with Fulton. Great back story. Just another fun fact was when Taguchi had been a pro for 4 years sparred a 17yo Inoue, got knocked down. He even questioned himself if he should continue boxing. So when Taguchi won the Japenese title, he wanted to prove to himself and avenge himself in the pro ring. The rest is history.

Wow, Naoyas style has been refined over time, but you see how it hasn’t changed. That’s a very good thing because he took HIS unique style and developed and improved it. Really remarkable and all the great fighters have this skill. Look at any great fighters with some exceptions, and their early style and their developed styles are the same. With Inoue it is obvious. He is one of the best and most exciting boxers currently fighting.
If I'm not mistaken, few years before this fight, they already spar with each other and Taguchi said that he got disappointed on himself on that sparring, because he was beaten up by a high school kid, which is Inoue.
Inoue was just much faster, sharper and more accurate. If this had gone on 2 more rounds I think Inoue could have managed a ko seeing as how Taguchi was exhausted while Inoue looked like he could've gone strong for at least 12 rounds. But props to Taguchi for being the only one of Inoue's opponents who did not end up sitting or laying on the canvas at any point nontheless.

Why the white short not speeding his boxes ? He only holding his box ir his hands not throwing his boxes more and fast. The white short should open eyes to see and learn from Many Pacquio
I don't know. I think beating a 40-5 three divisions champion was more impressive than this fight. Good stuff though. Same old strat. Work that vertical fist jab and overhand right and gradually loosen up the guard, then start going for liver shots.
This was his 4th pro fight and helped him get the his 1st world title in his 6th. This was his 1st pro fight that went to the score cards. This was where he started to grow the most and gained the experience to fight future fights like Donaire. Just like Donaire helped him grow even more and tested him to his limits to get to become who he is today. It's a journey and progress.
No he's always been a monster. Inoue beat him up sparring when Inoue was just a high schooler while Taguchi was a pro. This caused him to doubt his own skills.
