Your wife has a sharp eye and is such a hard worker! You two are truly blessed. I can't help but think that not a day goes by without you guys totally appreciating each other. What a wonderful example you are setting. I am so glad I found your channel. I have gotten more done around here than ever just being inspired by you. Thank you.♡♡♡♡♡♡♡

They remind me of my parents growing up. My mom and dad always worked together on projects around the house. I thought that was normal. Then I grew up and realized it's not. It should be. You should ENJOY doing things as a couple. Yes this is a GREAT example, especially for the kids.

I AM oddly excited to see this come together. You two are essentially building a new home. All of the work you are doing would cost SO much more if you paid a contractor and I doubt they would do as good a job. There is so much pride and happiness involved. No mansion could mean more. On top of that I'm watching a history that hundreds of years from now will fascinate people, particularly your descendants. Well done and thank you.

I would LOVE to have new windows! My mobile home is a 1981, and still has the old aluminum windows....I hope someday to be able to afford to replace them, but living on disability doesn’t leave any room to build a savings. I don’t comment often, but I love watching your videos and am so impressed with your skills! You both work so good together! Thank you for sharing your journey on this remodel. ❤️

I Love watching these people, for one reason, they take you with them and show you how to do it as they go. its not like alot of others i have watched where they act like there way is the only way to do it and no matter what they are right, there don't act like snobs or know it all. they act like they learn as we do and let us follow them.and they act human to the camera.

    • @brendaunland4407
      @brendaunland4407 5 років тому +1

The Ozark Duke I agree with you completely. Doug and Ashley are real people not snobs or jerks like some of the couples. I’ve unsubscribed due to one who I had followed from the beginning of their build. Never was real impressed with the husband to begin with but he turned into a know it all jerk. They have lost many viewers.
This couple have a whole different demeanor. Super sweet family.

Aw wow Doug with your cutting I think you should have been a surgeon lol, bet belle and maverick are really excited for when it will all be finished I really love your two children they are not one bit spoilt like over here in the U.K they don’t want all high end toys, they love things they can make they wander round your house helping and searching for different things they can find and use they are so polite and very helpful, your windows are absolutely gorgeous you have done so well so for now god bless you and take care xx

There is no doubt at all about Belle and Maverick being just lovely. They are . They look just perfect to me . To give the children and families living in places where ‘stuff’ distorts values and attitudes their due , it is not easy . With advertising and the barrage of ‘ look what Ive got ‘ , and ‘ to be cool buy this ‘ it’s very nearly impossible to keep life simple . The tide of consumerism is a powerful flash flood , nearly impossible to resist . Also , lives are necessarily very busy these days for Mum and Dad . Corners tend to be cut , and time to be with children to guide and direct is in short supply . This trend is not confined to any particular country , it is a very tricky aspect of ‘Progress’ .

For everyone that thinks they did the windows wrong they followed manufacturers instructions. I know most men dont follow instructions but my hubby does. Obviously Doug does too. Great job I am
so excited for you both. P.s. for all the critics their debt free and living life simply. I would rather live in something DIYFFERNTLY is building than the bigger construction company's.

I am so addicted to your channel that not only have I started from the beginning of this house so I can look forward to the next video and keep up with this journey. But I’ve started watching your videos from your old house! I am still in amazement of you both! You are like a well oiled machine, you two work so well together and I mean that in a loving way, it’s proof of how perfect you two are for each other, not just spouses and parents but best friends working in harmony on making your dreams come true!! Love you guys to pieces, I find myself so happy and excited for you! I’m such a corny chick I know! But like someone said to me in a comment compared to all the hooey and superficial nonsense on here and online, which I avoid like the plague - your channel is a breath of fresh air!! My daughters who are 13 & 16 are enjoying watching your videos with me!

My husband is a building inspector and I had him watch. He said that some manufacturers say you are supposed to do the housewrap the way you did. He says you should always follow the manufacturer suggestion or you void any warranty. I think you do a great job. I can’t wait to see the finished job because I love all your finish work on the bedrooms. It’s very danish looking to me and so neat and tranquil.

Just a little tip, you could of cut the house wrap about 2.5” larger on the bottom & 2 sides of the window, then cut on a diagonal in the corners and folded it in to cover the studs for moisture. Normally we would Visqueen the 3 sides for moisture then install window, starting with flashing tape on bottom then 2 sides & finish with the top. Overall great job for first timers. Love how you used roxul aka rockwool for insulation, I use it all the time. Another tip, the spray foam cans only really work upside down 😂.

I just love all the improvements you’ve made to this day! I really like those windows they looked simple, easy and large enough to look outside with.
You really did make a great choice by using them. Can’t wait to see what you’ll do inside now for your sons room and the living area.
I’m just so impressed with the fact your doing all this by yourselves. Even if mistakes are made, we learn so much from that. If I were younger and was watching these videos I want to do those improvements too by myself .

NOt sure if anyone has mentioned, but if you cut an "X" through your openings, rather than cutting them out, you can wrap the WRAP around the window/door openings and staple in jambs or inside home. It seals up those raw wood edges too! Just my $0.02.

    Another good job.
I found that when pressing down that tape. If you take the backing and wrap it around your four fingers. Then rub and press the tape using the slick backing paper on your hand. And doing so quickly, it warms the adhesive giving a better bond.

If you are not going to side this year. You might want to use button nails or something a little stronger than staples. Any strong winds will rip your house wrap off. House is looking good.

Yeah, we may reinforce it if need be. We're still trying to see how things will work out. Thanks!

I subscribe to many channels but when I get a notification you've made another one, I click it first! I don't even have a house to renovate. =) You're my favorite young couple to watch, and it's encouraging to see young generations have ethics and interest in improving their own lives, instead of wanting it handed to you. Your kids are lucky to have great role models. It was fun watching you cut the window plastic from the inside out.

Looks nice with all windows the same size. Sure hope you can work it out to get that siding on before winter sets in to protect that house wrap and window seals.

Gee, it's nice to know you are human and make mistakes like the rest of us. So glad your new windows came in so you could get the house sealed up before winter weather starts there. The house is looking awesome.

Nice work team! I would suggest cutting the windows n doorways so that the house wrap folds inwards it just a lil tip someone taught me and a lil bit of extra protection from rain....Folding it inwards protects it in case rain seeps through somehow. Everyone has there way of doing things tho Im sure it will be fine with the flashing yall did. Love what you two are doing keep it going.

Let them be light. The windows look really great. The savings you will have once all the updates have been made are going to be great. So happy for your family that you found this home. Hope the kids are doing well.
