European motorcycle trip to Stelvio, part 1

- road trip adventures are exciting at any time and any age, this is our trip to the stelvio pass in Italy, travelling through France, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Germany, Luxembourg and Belgium.
is the ducati multistrada 1200s , the right machine, do we have to worry about any Italian fragility or reliability.

That wasn't the royal family, everyone in London is rich and drives a Roller or a Ferrari, donchaknow?
My cards have the number on the front so can't show them on the interweb...
Yeah gotta be careful with cards, but I had it inside the wrist band for much of the trip and the toll payages worked really well and not too expensive.

Greetings from N.I. just done 2.5k miles and 10 countries in 10 days, been touring with my good lady for over 20 years just love the adventure and remember the first time I took her on a long trip and the apprehension ,but loves it now. I call her Sat Nag as i have sat nav on front of bike ..lol 😂😉 Regards Robert & Carolyn .

@@wsmv At 62 it was a wee bridge to far and i should know better , the weather was terrible except for Italy. You should do the Dolomites just stunning and served by great hotels etc. need any help just ask been doing it for 12 years on and off.

Good stuff bud, me and the wife have done that trip a few times, love it on the train you know you're on holiday now but l do prefer the ferry 👍
I agree Mark, the ferry gives you a needed break too, and as you say it feels like a holiday 😁👍

Great to see the trip starting. It's super exciting boarding the train knowing another country awaits. (Although slightly worrying seeing your bike rock around on the sidestand 😮)
Tell me about it, found the sidestand bolt had worn and was slightly loose, managed to order one while I was out there and refitted when we got home 😖

Thank you for your video. It looks like proper motorcycle touring. I like it. My girlfriend and I went two up camping to Monaco in 1979 and Milano in 1983. I had planned to go to Switzerland this summer but floods first in Germany and now in Switzerland stopped me. I will probably go Denmark, Sweden, Norway and back to Denmark this year. I'm looking forward to seeing how you fare.

😁 I suspect its not much different to riding state to state over there, you only need a passport in and out of the UK, the rest is border free. Riding on the right is easy, and I'm sure you've gone to some states and English isn't their first language 🤣🤣
@@wsmv 😂🤣😂 Yes, state to state is no issue. And you’re absolutely right!! I’ve been to some places where I needed a translator, and they were speaking some English, I think….😂🤣😂🤣

Hi, thank you for watching, yes the mirrors are standard fitment, and actually really good, very few vibrations and high enough to clear my elbows 👍

Looking forward to this, would love to know the mileage on your multi…I’ve a 2013 with 32k on it and still touring, we always travel 2 up so hope your partner enjoys it.
Hi buddy, yeah my 62 plate ticked over30k on the last leg back to the west country (and the Desmond service light came on 😭)
But I love it and already booked in for a full service 😁 touring 2up long distance is amazing to share it with someone and the multi is definitely the bike to do it, plus I do love ducatis 😍
Saw that you Mrs uses Three as a network provider. I have left Three and joined IDmobile who use the Three network and offer the same roaming deal as Three, for less than a third of the price.
Funny you should say that, I have 3 in my usual phone but have an I'd mobile sim in the old phone I use as a satnav, never lost any signal all through Europe 👍
I'm really jealous of Koreans that they can go on a bike tour anywhere in Europe if they have time and leisure😊
Going onto Europe is a great experience, but we can all go on motorcycle tours, the first step is always the hardest 👍
Just remember when filtering through traffic it must bee below 15 miles an hour anything above that and reving your engine at other drivers could be classed as dangerous driving or driving without due care and attention 😉
@Swarbrick129 hi haggis, there's actually no speed limit to filtering, but recommended to be no more than 20mph higher than the slow moving traffic.
Revving an engine is a great way to alert dozy drivers of your presence.
Personally 35mph is the speed that I stop filtering and move with the flow of traffic.
