Yeah. I'd say most of them are about on the same level as the originals. You Will Know Our Names got a little worse and Engage the Enemy got a lot better.
@@liamm113 Yes, I have. I like the more prominent guitar in the battle themes. In You Will Know Our Names I feel that the crunchy main melody of the original is a bit muted by comparison.
There is so much more to enjoy in this OST. You should defenetly consider making a part 2 so you can have the priviledge to hear "an obstacle in our path", "Satorl Marsh", "tragic decision", "mechonis field", "arignithia", "prison island" and all the zanza themes. I can garantee you will have a blast !
@@SpaaloneBabaguusi would agree with the original vocals being better but story wise i think the vocals in the remastered version in the cutscenes fit better
well of course if it bothers you, stay with the original version but i along with plenty of people don’t have an issue with it. (i never played the original game so take this as you will)
the only reason the definitive edition has mixed reviews is because people are nostalgic for the original. DE uses all live recordings of instrumentalists and vocalists and as someone who loves both soundtracks, DE's is better as a musician because the performance quality adds even more to the amazing music. Nothing wrong with the original, but while I think it's one of the best uses of MIDI I've heard, it just doesn't match the juice of the studio recordings, the studio recordings are perfect quality with concert level energy, it's amazing. and I know you said the vocals in Engage the Enemy were high, but what if I told you the live performance strings and voices swap octaves so the vocals have the top notes. it is insane and never fails to make me cry
5:30 if you like orchestra with band music, have you ever heard Nightwish? They’re a symphonic metal group that often has a choir here and there as well. You should check them out!
YESSSSSS you finally listened to Xenoblade!!! There’s still soooo much more music from just this game alone that you could do more parts of, and don’t even get me started with Xenoblade 2, 3 and all of the unique music from the expansions of these games as well! Hope to hear more from you!
I've heard "You Will Know Our Names" so many times over the years. Finally played Xenoblade this month and my SHOCK when it started playing on some random field encounter with a level 6 slug. I thought for sure it was a late-game boss theme until playing the game. Then Mechanical Rhythm not even being a boss battle song broke me.
Damn, I was _really_ hoping Satorl Marsh (Night) would be on here? Only one area theme? This was still a really cool video! I could've sat down and watched you react to tracks from these games for 40 minutes. Also, you should play this game! It's one of the absolute _best_ game I've played.
I was surprised Mechonis Field wasn't in there. Really all of the other major popular songs from the first game were in there... except the regular battle theme. I like it, but it's definitely not one of the legendary standout tracks the game is known for. Oh and I suppose the final boss theme as well. And Tragic Decision. Okay, probably some more missing. Game has so many legendary tracks.
This OST is iconic. Almost all the field themes are dynamic with day and night versions, cutscenes are clearly planned around the musical score so many of the moments peak with the music. I cannot believe north America almost didn't get this game. I might of came to the party late in 2022 bit this game still changed my life at 30.
I still remember when I opened Xenoblade for the first time and heard/saw the title screen. I was in awe too. I couldn't stop listening. I eventually decided to get up and make dinner while I continued to listen.
Honestly this needs a part 2 for xenoblade 1 alone! Xenoblade games have gigantic soundtracks. Or at least you gotta check out the other xenoblade games they are great. Still I genuinely reccomend doing a part 2 to hear more of a variety of soundtracks cause this is only scratching the surface and frankly is missing some of the best songs of the game. If you ever do a part 2 you gotta listen to Tragic Decision and Beyond The Sky.
I'm very happy to see you've reacted to xenoblade's ost!! xenoblade is a very special series to me and its always nice to see people appreciating its soundtrack :] it'll be cool to see you react to xenoblade 2's and xenoblade 3's ost in the future, every game in this trilogy has a god tier ost ^^
Xenoblade's title theme is so incredibly strong. You listen to this and can't even start the game but when you do, damn the emotions only get crazier from there. I hope you play it someday to understand the connection to the story because it's damn crazy. And rightfully one of the greatest JRPGs of all time.
Oh and yes, the remaster soundtrack is controversial to some but that's just because of like 1-2 pieces. It's equally as great imho. If you got a Switch the remaster is worth playing over the original because it's 1:1 the same game but with great QoL changes and updated graphics that look incredible.
Oh there def needs to be more of this, 2 and 3 also have a banger soundtrack! Also not sure who told you that the remaster had mixed opinions, but I’m pretty sure most people enjoy it as much or if not better than the original (especially the OST)
There’s a whole catalog of vocal tracks with lyrics from this series and all of them are amazing. The newest one “Future awaits” actually had me in tears.
the Definitive version of "Engage The Enemy" has a slightly different vibe but I definitely recommend checking it out, maybe even in your spare time, because wow the vocals go nuts. More uneasy and distressing than the original maybe? Mechanical Rhythm's Definitive version stands out to me too, it feels a lot more heavy metal. Anyway this was really fun to watch! Xbc1 is one of my favourite OSTs of all time, and 2 and 3's OSTs are very very worthy successors. I'd definitely like to see more Xenoblade reactions from you!
You've made this incredible soundtrack justice with your reactions! Though I'd say that the remaster's versions of it do sound a bit better (even better than these masterpieces, can you imagine?) in terms of mixing and stuff, and the reason why they got a mixed reception is mainly nostalgia biases, so I'd suggest you give them a go too if you're at all curious! :D Especially 'Mechanical Rythm", the remaster's version is even more phenomenal and I think you'd love it! I hope you'll end up doing Xenoblade 2 and 3 as well, these soundtracks are just banger after banger, after banger!
I find the Definitive Edition versions of these songs to be better than the originals with little-no exception, even with usually minor changes, but the originals were already great in their own right. Xenoblade music in every game is bloody brilliant.
Oh man Xenoblade music is always a treat! Wasn’t expecting this to be the next video but I’m more than happy! Hope you get to check out the other games in the series as well (including their vocal tracks)!
Actually 4:11, I think most people regard the Definitive Edition ost to be on par with the original. For some important tracks like Engage the Enemy, Mechanical Rhythm & Zanza the Divine, some would even say it's an improvement. Definitive Edition also feature some tracks that are not changed, which is fine because the original are more than servicable. It'd be cool if you can check those out too.
Definitely need to check out the rest of the series soundtracks! Mor Ardain, Tantal, Gormott and Leftherian Archipelego are definitely must hear field themes!
The '21 foot tall cow' is probably referring to a lvl 80+ boss that's just roaming around the first big open area in the game. You'il usually run into it accidentally, and You Will Know Our Names is the theme that plays when that happens.
You just know that its gonna be one hell of an emotional ride when only the main theme makes you wanna cry... thats how i felt, i couldnt even start the game immidiately, i just HAD to hear the full track before pressing start
Didnt realize u just oisted this today, was just looking at Xenoblade OSTs and this was recommended, definitely recommend giving some of the remasters a listen to as well as music from the other games
Reminder the opening theme is just the title screen. This is what you hear as soon as you turn on the game. Its...an experience. Easily one of the best experiences ive ever had just starting up a video game.
Thanks UA-cam recs. The OST 2 for and 3 are fantastic also. XCX is also good though very different due to a different composer. The songs here are by Yoko Shimomura ,Tsutomu Narita, and Kenji Hiramatsu or Hiramatsu with ACE (Hiroyo 'CHiCO' Yamanaka and Tomori 'TOMOri' Kudo) known simply as ACE+
If you look for "The music of Xenoblade Chronicles 3D", you should see a bunch of small clips they did of the renditions for the release of the 3DS version.
I'm still surprised when I hear people have mixed opinions on the music from the Definitive Edition because IMO having the full orchestra makes the majority of the songs vastly better. It takes a lot of mid songs and makes them absolutely beautiful.
You should absolutely listen to more of this soundtrack and from the other 2 games as well. Zanza the Divine has to be one of the best final boss themes of all time
Xenoblade chronicles is such a banger. I think you might like the OST for Octopath Traveler as well, or if you feel like dipping your toes into anime OSTs then Made in Abyss' soundtrack is an emotional trip.
I had mostly forgotten Time to Fight because even though it goes plenty hard, every other battle theme in Xenoblade goes ABSOLUTELY HAM. But it was really great to hear it pop back up in Future Redeemed Also You Will Know Our Names is less associated with a 21 foot tall cow and moreso known for a 40 foot tall MONKE that insta-kills you when just a moment ago you were having fun jamming to Gaur Plain
in the original release on the wii, the title screen even had dynamic day and night switching. it was epic how the stars rose to the music and then again to the sunrise.
Xenoblade's soundtracks are the greatest of all time in my opinion. Soon to all be released on physical media! I'd definitely recommend checking out some of the Definitive Edition remakes for the first game's tracks. They're redone with live instruments and sound heavenly. Both 2 and 3's soundtracks were recorded with full orchestras as well :)
Gaur Plain will always make me emotional. It's when the game really starts...you enter through this tight passage with high cliffs on both sides and suddenly find yourself in this huge grassland, teeming with all sorts of life everywhere as this song rises.
I basically grew up with xenoblade and I'll never forget my first playthrough. This game made me want to be a video game developer and it started my jrpg journey. Im 23 now and wow how time flies.
Super glad I found your channel a week ago when you posted this. Xenoblade 1 is my favorite game ever and watching someone like you react so heavily to its music was wonderful. I’m definitely sticking around for whatever soundtracks you listen to in the future.
Yes, a lot of Xenoblade game time is spent just standing. And listening. Sometimes in the middle of the overworld. Sometimes in the middle of a cutscene. Sometimes you can't make it past the main menu.
The first game was fantastic. I’m not even a big fan of JRPGs , but this game is the exception. Compelling characters, a unique world, and a strong story with impressive English voice acting.
you could easily have a part 2 of just xenoblade 1 alone. once we part ways, zanza the divine, tragic decision, god slaying sword, agniratha night, and so much more
Not sure if someone already said this but the young man with the blond hair is Shulk, he’s the protagonist. Xenoblade is my favorite franchise, might be beaten by another franchise I’m playing but I need to play more of that to finalize my opinion.
Several of these songs got huge upgrades when the remaster came out. I'm pretty sure all the remake osts use the photo of the "blonde anime boy" instead of the blue sky
3 minutes of stunned near silence is a perfectly reasonable reaction to hearing the main theme. I have a few hours spent on this game's title screen alone from every time I've booted it up and struggled to interupt the song to load my save file
Another interesting thing is the English dub cast all are from the UK, one of the characters is even voiced by Jena Coleman who was Clara from Doctor Who.
I would reccomend listening to the definitive edition's soundtrack for engage the enemy, time to fight, gaur plain, you will know our names, and mechanical rythym as well, they remade (i believe) every soundtrack besides the main title. They all are quite different, and just as good as the original mix
Yasunori Mitsuda is a god among men regarding soundtracks for JPRG's. I'm so glad you discovered the magical music of Xenoblade. May you listen to every single thing of this OST. You wont regret it!
Time to fight is my favorite underrated piece of music in this game. The violonist: Yoko Shimomura, also did the OST for Radiant Historia and (as well as I like RH) this song always remind me of that game. It's practically her work in the DS/3DS game for a game on a big screen. Absolutely fantastic stuff. Loved your video!
Literally the entire Xenoblade soundtrack is killer, and the remake soundtrack is almost entirely improvements to the original. I highly encourage checking it out along with the other 3 Xenoblade games. This franchise means more to me than any other from any media outlet, and the music only matches the quality of everything else. If not for a video, listen to it in your own time because it's a treat. Have a good day and enjoy!
The main theme is so good - when an ultra hyped FloPe bought this in a gamestop on release, getting home asap to play this, popping the game in and instead of ACTUALLY playing the game, got stuck for like 10 minutes on the title screen because I was just in so much awe at the theme being THIS. Still one of my favourite themes of all time for sure.
Gotta remark the fact that "Unfinished Business" only plays once in the entire game, in a cutscene that lasts about half as long as the theme itself lmao
I had just finished Xenoblade Chronicles 3 three days ago, so this is perfect timing. Xenoblade's OST is one of my favorites next to Persona 5 for the usage of music in events and moments that live in my head. But if I could say ONLY ONE song to recommend in the Xenoblade series, it's "The Weight of Life"
Judging from the length, I'm guessing that Gaur Plain upload must've had it transition into the Night version; might wanna check that out, every area not under a roof has a day/night version of its theme and it's cool how they change up, especially in 2.
there is really nothing like booting up the game, seeing the title screen, and hearing the main theme for the first time. it fits the game perfectly. best game ever!!!!!!
Reminds me of my reaction when I first heard the music. Bought it in a whim before I played the game and knew I had to experience the game itself. Both are amazing experiences.
As someone who only played the first game 1 year ago and is now a mega fan believe me when I say that it's worth it to play all these long-ass games, they're amazing and I definitely think you should check them out!

If you think the vocals of "Engage the enemy" are high you have to listen to the definitive version. Its soooooooo much better in the vocal part
honestly i have to disagree, i love the original way more than the definitive version
@@SpaaloneBabaguusi would agree with the original vocals being better but story wise i think the vocals in the remastered version in the cutscenes fit better
@@maguire4428 the remastered vocals legitimately take me out of the cutscenes it plays in, i just can't enjoy it
well of course if it bothers you, stay with the original version but i along with plenty of people don’t have an issue with it. (i never played the original game so take this as you will)
It's an awful remix and the worst in DE lmao
Man if you loved this, Xenoblade 3 is gonna knock your socks off.
A life Sent On and The Weight of Life in particular are absolute master pieces.
Also Ms Gambit and enemy of the world are just 👌🏻👌🏻
She’ll be full of beans yes
the only reason the definitive edition has mixed reviews is because people are nostalgic for the original.
Ladies and gentlemen, one of the greatest soundtracks in a JRPG.
It only gets better from here
Xenoblade has such magnificent music. I highly recommend you listen to other Xenoblade entries, because this is just the tip of the iceberg!
Shes got to livestream the entire ost reaction! They really all deserve the spotlight!
@@thenonexistinghero Mechonis Field is straight up my favorite track from Xenoblade 1.
One thing is for certain; Xenoblade never disappoints in the music department!
Love this react, is the true meaning of "im really feeling it" ❤
Oh there def needs to be more of this, 2 and 3 also have a banger soundtrack!
This soundtrack is a masterpiece and the game is a lot of fun as someone who doesn't play a lot of jrpgs.
the Definitive version of "Engage The Enemy" has a slightly different vibe but I definitely recommend checking it out, maybe even in your spare time, because wow the vocals go nuts.
This one is a ride from start to finish just has to be said now
A *wild* ride, one could say
"Oh my god"
WE GOT ANOTHER ONE, XENOCHADS
The xenoblade soundtracks are definitely my favorite collections of music ever
They prove how powerful music can be
Actually 4:11, I think most people regard the Definitive Edition ost to be on par with the original.
Glad this popped up in my recommended feed. If only so I could feel validated in that the title theme is infact flipping amazing
Most of the remastered tracks are really good, some arguably better. At the very least, they are worth giving a listen to
This, Sword Valley in particular.
There are no words to tell how much I enjoy every Xenoblade OSTs
It takes a lot of mid songs and makes them absolutely beautiful.
absolutely need more parts of xenoblade ost reactions
You should absolutely listen to more of this soundtrack and from the other 2 games as well. Zanza the Divine has to be one of the best final boss themes of all time
Xenoblade chronicles is such a banger. I think you might like the OST for Octopath Traveler as well, or if you feel like dipping your toes into anime OSTs then Made in Abyss' soundtrack is an emotional trip.
From the video title alone, my friend, you've got no damn idea, this franchise changes you.
Fun fact: Unfinished Business was vomposed to be used in one single cutscene in the game, and never appears again throughout the game after that
The effort some game studios put into the OST is insane. They could compete with national assembles or win the ESC depending on the style of music.
I had mostly forgotten Time to Fight because even though it goes plenty hard, every other battle theme in Xenoblade goes ABSOLUTELY HAM. But it was really great to hear it pop back up in Future Redeemed
Also You Will Know Our Names is less associated with a 21 foot tall cow and moreso known for a 40 foot tall MONKE that insta-kills you when just a moment ago you were having fun jamming to Gaur Plain
It’s over when she gets to 3 man that game’s music hits
If you liked Main theme, you'll fall in love with "Shulk and fiora" ost
in the original release on the wii, the title screen even had dynamic day and night switching. it was epic how the stars rose to the music and then again to the sunrise.
If you revisit more Xenoblade 1 themes, definitely need to listen to Zanza The Divine, Time to Fight (Bionis Shoulder), and Fogbeast Battle!
Definitely consider doing more parts of these. This series has some unbelievably good music, this video is really just scratching the surface haha
Unfinished Business really is Unfinished because its used once and it doesnt even get to loop before its never heard again.
Fun fact the title screen will cycle from day to night and day again reachinh day once the main theme ends
Also if you listen to more xenoblade check out the track reminiscence
Another interesting thing is the English dub cast all are from the UK, one of the characters is even voiced by Jena Coleman who was Clara from Doctor Who.
I would reccomend listening to the definitive edition's soundtrack for engage the enemy, time to fight, gaur plain, you will know our names, and mechanical rythym as well, they remade (i believe) every soundtrack besides the main title. They all are quite different, and just as good as the original mix
they actually only remade like 3/4ths of the OST, a lot of them are unchanged
Yasunori Mitsuda is a god among men regarding soundtracks for JPRG's. I'm so glad you discovered the magical music of Xenoblade. May you listen to every single thing of this OST. You wont regret it!
True but Matsuda had very little to do with xc1, only the ending theme Beyond the Sky
The music in this series seriously never disappoints
Haven't found a game that's made me -feel- as much since I played this in 2013. Truly amazing.
As someone who only played the first game 1 year ago and is now a mega fan believe me when I say that it's worth it to play all these long-ass games, they're amazing and I definitely think you should check them out!
