The WHO is one of the greatest bands ever. Early 1970's until today. Great music.
John Entwistle's bass work on this song is insane. I wish the cameras covered it more but instead - it's an absolute joy to watch the emotion in Roger as he sings the opening verses.
totally agree
Agree, too. Especially at the beginning of the song, which this clip misses.
Gawd, I love this song
I always believed this song was underrated. One of the best songs Pete Townshend wrote. But then again I don't think I know of any bad songs Pete wrote. Roger is the perfect man to do Pete's songs. Guess that's why Pete has said that a few times. Roger is and has always been the perfect man for his songs.
nobody is is a better rock singer than Roger Daltrey, no one will ever come close to the pure talent he has. the greatest gift to rock not roll
best body too
@@QueenFan12 Mercury has a wonderful voice but he just doesn’t “rock” like Daltrey if you get what I’m saying.
My wife and I were at this show in about row 12. I've seen the Who about five times but this show was better than I've ever seen them. The whole band was on fire all night.
Same here. First time for me was 1997. Being a fan since 1981 there was no way to see them live. They just didnt tour Europe. Seen them about 10 times, this was the best. Although Pete's 1998 Shepherd's Bush Empire gig felt the most special.
I liked when Pete Townshend smashed his guitar a long time ago. Cool beans. :)
yeah, literally!
it looked like it 95
They were
They were incredible the entire tour. Pete was on fire. Those nightly jams and loud playing
I love how adventurous pete is in his solos and lead playing. Really a great improviser - not afraid to just throw anything out there in the moment, and usually makes it land despite the odds.
Yes indeed
Yo roger is 56 years old here open shirt like the old days I’m a straight as a pin male but dam dude got it vocals looks all of it! First concert I ever saw was The Who at 15 years old and literally changed my life for the better!!!! All of em serious talent and love for the craft
Miss my momma and Shelly
Pete Townsend is the greatest writer in the History of Rock and Roll.
He captures and encapsulates the essence of it..
He's a freakin' genius, but his name is Townshend.
@@tovarisch2788 Who's Next was a departure from their 60s sound.
@@jeffreykaufmann2867 No argument there.
@@tovarisch2788The Jam's first two albums sound like the early Who. Do you know them?
@@jeffreykaufmann2867 A little. I should revisit them. Thanks.
RIP John E..
One of my favorite songs from the Who
Greatest rock band ever THE WHO. Saw THE WHO 5 TIME'S AND MY EARS ARE STILL RINGING AND I FUCKING LOVE IT
after seeing The who 25 + times i never saw them do this live, but i've got to say can you imagine a1971 live version OMG, i mean this is brilliant, but back in the day you would've been blown away, anyway what i'm trying to say how did this not become a live standard like WGFA or Baba O'reilly ?
I'd suggest this version is better than most versions they would have hypothetically performed prior to 2000. Townshend was a happy camper during this period. Starkey is a better drummer than Moon post-1975 and far superior to Jones.
I've always wondered the same.
@@chrismorfas7515 You can see the difference between Kenney and Zak. Kenney played the song, Zak plays more to emotion, closer to Keith. Like Roger who said, if he, Roger, couldn't hit the note, he'd be happy to hit the emotion.
@@chrismorfas7515 Maybe, but it also lacks the charm of when it was just Pete, Roger, John, and Keith
@@chrismorfas7515pete played incredible this tour
I was at this show!! The band was on fire!!! Who knew Pete smiled so much? 😂👊🏼
looked hot as hell
Pete came back in 2000 as a better guitar player than ever before, with a new assortment of cool tricks. I don't think he ever played finer lead guitar, he was playing like a man posessed. A total wizard.
Grogeous song!
“When I look I your eyes I see the harmonies and heartaches soften”
See you soon Roger…6/18/24
I've been watching and listening to the Who nearly my entire life and I have to say this (starting 4:41) is one of Pete's best solos ever, and that's saying something. Damn straight you were somebody else, dude....a rock god. Wow.
Man live pete is incredible
I saw these guys in 1980 in Memphis TN. Over 3 hrs of the greatest band I have ever seen live. I have been to see over 300 shows in my life and the WHO was absolutely the BEST !!
This was one heckuva show from one who has seen the WHO, Roger or Pete at least 15 times. Had about 8th row and the crowd walked out stunned that human beings could play music at such an incredible high level of intensity and precision. The sound was perfect and John E's bass had the floor and seats shaking. GREAT SHOW. Then again, I have never seen a bad or average WHO show.
Who’s here with me at the very end of 2023 ?
Roger truly was in top form at this concert. John was not doing vocals with the others and Pete was carrying the band with grace and power. They should bring back, their keyboard player. He is the best ! And Zak Starkey...great drummer !

I'm gonna sing this song one of these days...:)
Absolute Class Act !!! - one great historic moment in the History of our time's greatest Rock 'n Roll Band : The Who
4:37 Pete is so happy, Oh I would have loved to be there...
Hi Chris... I was there that night in Florida, they were in a good mood that night, my Favorite Band of all time.
Another great contribution by Nicky Hopkins.
On keyboards, it’s John « Rabbit » Bundrick ;)
LONG LIVE ROCK !!!
Wow that was awesome June 24 2024💥🎶🎶🎶🎶
Amazing!!! Thank you! Any The Who fun that didn’t see this concert will be in glory. Headphones, drinks and a joint highly recommended.
I wish I could have been at this show. They were really rocking this on night!
Favorite versión of my favorite Who Classic !!
Roger at his absolute finest! Beautiful man specimen!
My favorite Townshend song.
This is incredible! I saw them on this tour in Dallas. They opened with "Substitute" and "Can't Explain". I have never heard screaming like that at any other concert. It was like 1964.
One of the best bands ever
The Who
"Getting In Tune"
Live At West Palm Beach, 2000
these guys are so badass, they make it look So Easy........
Great version of this Who's Next classic. Remember this from Shepherd's Bush Empire gig of 1999. Class act.
The best
Loveeee!!!
Right back at you!
I was there. The sound is much clearer and richer here than in person that night. I don't remember that song being played.
Favorite Who Tune, love the preformance..
Just amazing.Legends!
One of top 3 to hear them play live!!! Relay pass it on...Real Me too
Great to hear them perform this song!
I remember !! It was HOT !!!!
Favorite Who Classic !
I'm smacking my forehead over Zak Starkey's drum fill at 2:31. Wow: Why in 40 years of playing drums have I never busted out that one?? Like, duh! Awesome ...
Harry Joiner it’s a great fill indeed!!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋🎤🎤🎤🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁
Didn't he emulate Moon's original here?
I don't think mooney used flams that strategically (where the sticks play the final two of four beats on the toms, then snare). typically, moon only went down the toms, not up.@@neckapb
Fantastic band
I do not swear very often (honest!) but that is fucking brilliant and I willw atch it over and over again! :)
Two thumbs down? Really? Wankers...I 'd say THIS song live makes me happiest purr...fect blend of Pete & Rog!😁
Just great!
OMG😲💯🎯‼️
Pete is on fire.
...Baby > with you ❤
❤
so sad that this happens anymore - love you all
Honest freedom delivered here.
This is great
Is this the best they EVER were? I mean, it's really, really good.
@SEZWAH
My Boys are simply " THE BEST"😍😍😍😍
Está versión está de puta madre !!!!!
Didn’t know that Pete had it in him.
Ox's bass needs more attention from the board operator.
Towards the end.... Townshend..... “Ish” !!!! Haha 😆 day
Daltrey can sing. Perfect pitch. I sometimes worry about the growling sound from older singers, i wonder if they can no longer sing the high notes. I hear this alot. Any opinions or explanations?
Heather Curran yeah, he’s a God!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤
lifetime of smoking
But Roger without the signature white tape on the mic is throwing me off.
Was this really twenty of ago?
Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey. The drummer is new. I'm not sure who he is.
