I've seen people kind of whining about the fact that Pizza Tower most likely is over but, tbh they didn't HAD to give us anything, Noise Update, Halloween, extra languages, all of that wasn't precisely something that actually meant any money for the team, yet it all was added due to love for the project, Pizza Tower is finished, and I think that's ok, we had everything the game could offer
The great thing is, from the very start, it's pretty easy to notice that the tower is actually one huge level. Not only the John blocks, the clocks, and the pizza cubes, but even at the very beginning of the game, you enter its door just as you would any other level. Plus, when exiting to the pause screen, it's even labeled as "exit level" and, while overall progress is saved, you still have to start at the very beginning of the tower when playing again. Just like a regular level. I think it's genius, honestly.
They knew from the start that you would have to escape the tower, so to fit the ending, they simply (and this is the genius part) made every other sublevel like the main level: the tower. Following that, they applied every single element they would in all subevels to the main one for the final victory lap escape sequence.
@@Pyrodiac Yeah, they changed it in the Halloween update, now pause on the hud doesn't haves that unfunctional "Restart" option and the "Exit Level" was replaced by "Main Menu"
And - bonus - triggering bugs like Skip Pizzaface shows that the CTOP is LITERALLY the same instance. Seriously. You can use debug mode to trigger the timer in the tower lobby and it will trigger the end cutscene when you exit the tower. They just use the whole "Pillar John respawns the enemies" mechanic so that you don't have to deal with enemies in the floor lobbies.
I think what makes this really special to me is that, if you were a true first time player like me, not even trying out the eggplant build or even the sage demos that started this entire journey, you'd most likely be a bumbling idiot at the start, even after the tutorial you'd be fumbling around crashing into every wall, getting stabbed, burnt, squashed and punted while you trip and fall through the first few levels...but as you ascend the tower, as the tower beats you down with everything it's got, you're only being molded by the obstacles in your path, understanding enemy behaviors, mastering basic movement and even learning more advanced techniques, be it via the pizza guides or through your own discovery, and it all surmounts to this. The final escape, the moment you destroy the last John, what would normally be a wave of fear blanketing your psyche is instead a wave of confidence, 5 floors of hell. 19 levels of torture, yet here you are, at the pinnacle of your potential. You've mastered the skills you were taught and learned a few more tricks along the way, the panic of the timer is all but gone. The tower no longer scares you. You are no longer a slave to fear. You made it to the top. Now it's time to come back down.
The fact that Peppino definitely wants nothing to do with any of the bosses he just thrashed within an inch of their life BUT helps them out anyway is… kind of really sweet?? Even though it’s also possible that they’re all just caught up in the wind funnel created by Peppino’s sheer SPEED as he skedaddles at Mach 10.

Okay I love how if you look carefully, they are foreshadowing the escape sequence as you can spot various John Blocks placed throughout the lobbies which lets you know that getting out of this tower won't be a simple cutscene.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed Also, if you remember, in one of the builds prior to the full release, there was a level named "exit". The way it started was with you/the player destroying a pillar John, just like in "the crumbling tower of pizza"

Pizza Face is Flattened. The Final Pillar has been Removed. The Tower is Beginning to Collapse. As Peppino Races Through the Tower 1 final time, the bosses realize that he was right about everything. And Pizza Face was the true enemy. 1 by 1 they begin to tail Peppino, Realizing that he's the only way out. Racing Floor by Floor against the ever collapsing Tower, Peppino makes 1 final dash for the exit out of this Tower. And as several Pizza Face enemies Fly, you all race out the door, far away from the Tower. Standing on a hill, you watch the Tower collapse into nothingness. Going back to it one last time, Peppino finds out that all his hard work has paid off. As John rises, and Gives Pizza Face A Firm Uppercut that sends him into oblivion. With the Tower Collapsed, Your Restaurant Saved, and a couple new people to call friends, you begin to walk back in the direction of the pizzarea It's over... For Now.
Pretty fitting for the switch trailer, especially now that they're apparently done with the game after the port, best luck to them honestly for whatever they're gonna cook next.
Kinda wish that the final level would begin immediately after Peppino Piledrives Pizzaface into the top of the tower. I feel like that would add a lot more impact if the final blow against Pizzaface would bring down the roof on floor 5, Shattering the final John pillar that we see in the background art and bringing down the whole tower once and for all. Admittedly making The Crumbling Tower of Pizza become a part of the final boss sequence would mean that you'd have to challenge Pizzaface again every time you wanted to try for a better rank. Personally I think that'd be a fun challenge, but there are workarounds. For instance they could only have this sequence occur when Pizzaface is defeated for the first time. after that either just play the piledriver cutscene again when you enter the TCTOP level gate or just scrap the cutscene and have the level start with the tower already crumbling. Regardless I love the whole ending sequence as it is, but personally I think it would've been a touch more impactful and cinematic if this was how it all played out instead.
@@rr53213rr True! And It wouldn’t even necessarily have to go either. After the John pillar is shattered there could be a few seconds of low rumbling before the floor collapses. Or Pizzahead could just take the ride through the floor with us and end up buried at the start of the final level.

Sadly I got stuck first time where you need to hit the metal box downwards and lost but I enjoyed every second of this game and the entire end sequence was beyond words for how well everything came together, big thanks for upping these tracks given there's no updated OST yet from the looks of it 🙌
On my 16th birthday I got a steam deck and pizza tower was one of the first games I got on it and it is honestly one of my favorite games of all time beating out several triple A Nintendo games ( yes I grew up a Nintendo boy) and I got the game becuase I herd it was a wario land like and I love all of the wario land games and when I played this game it was amazing it should be in it’s own category of perfection on how to make a amazing game and I was thrilled and got goose bumps playing this game during unexpectancy 3 and this incredible song I swear Mr Sauseman went to a record studio and burnt the place down due to how he made all of these songs and the mic was the color of infinity once he was done.
Fun fact: on my first playthrough because I was bad at the game, I actually made to the exit when 1 second remained, so I heard all the music that most of people don’t hear in their first playthrough.
Yoo, it happend to me too! But, first i false on second floor, but second, it was end on last second. I felt a lot of emotions in that moment, awesome game and ost. :D
This is it. You've done it. 5 minutes on the clock. You GOT this. Every other level fell before you. No boss stood against you. You humiliated Pizzahead. This is the easy part. You've done this the whole game. What is 5 measly minutes? The cherry on top. God speed soldier, god speed.
4:01 All of the bosses and enemies, friends and foes making one giant leap to the exit to survive Suddenly, the Pizzahead blockes the way. He wanted for Peppino to go down, and he will make sure it happens, even if he or anyone else will as well. Giant horde of paper cutouts as far as eye can se and in the middle of it he is, the final obstacle He gracefully dodges bullets, deflects bombs or punches, and he is ready to fight The crowd trembles and slowes down, but when all hope lost, he jumps out of nowhere Peppino He is fed up He will not take any of this crap anymore HE WILL ESCAPE THIS TOWER HERE AND NOW A blinding white blob of a midle aged chef plummets at a march 10 into the wall, straight up pulverising it, tearing everything in his way apart
I just beat this game yesterday and I already miss my first time playing it, I'm glad I have a bunch of screenshots from it. But damn this game is awesome, easily the best game I've played since a month after cuphead came out in 2017. Fantastic music, fantastic gameplay, tons of replayability, and you can play it with your parents and they'll probably enjoy it too.
If this were an animated sequence you can pinpoint the moment Pepino starts picking up the other characters and the exact moment they all pay back his unlikely kindness by helping him overcome an obstacle during the escape.

FOLKS FOR STEAM AWARDS 2023 I WANT TO SEE THIS GAME WIN!!
it might seem crazy what im about to say
We lost
fuck that cocoon game
The Last of Us Part 1
🤬
Funky beats to escape collapsing towers to
This game blows my mind in every way possible. This was really great way for a game to have a backtracking level.
Breaking news local Italian pizza chef out pizzas the hut and is heading towards your direction at Mach speed
Yesss, people still remember ost of this game, I'm happy
It is an unrivaled level of peak
I didn't think the game released that long ago, but I do know that time flies.
I p ranked this by complete accident after finishing the final boss for the first time lmao
r/thathappened
honestly not even that unlikely considering how easy the p rank is
This music fits the phrase "Everything goes to Shit, and my name's Shit" well.
the fact that he decides to save not only Gustavo and Brick but also the bosses(except pizzahead) shows that Peppino really cares, he is a hero
Peppino is a real one. 🍕
I have been playing this when I leave work every day
Sonic: I am the fastest thing alive!
Peppino: Hold-a my P Rank
With the Tower Collapsed, Your Restaurant Saved, and a couple new people to call friends, you begin to walk back in the direction of the pizzarea
It's over... For Now.
Bro litteraly made the finale in a single comment
funny that i got this in my recomendations after the new year
Pretty fitting for the switch trailer, especially now that they're apparently done with the game after the port, best luck to them honestly for whatever they're gonna cook next.
this just showed up in my playlist and i thought of "oh my goodness, oh my damn, oh my goodness he goin' ham"
i read that to the tune of this song lol
I love ur profile pic, it's so goofy
I like the blunt (but clever) song title
Its the opposite of wario land 4's
Lady: Hello there
And the song is called bye bye there
(Now thats dumb but a bit clever)
In pizza time it says "Hello There"
But in Bye Bye There it says it without the need of words.
Don’t smile because it happened
CRY BECAUSE ITS OVER
Sadly I got stuck first time where you need to hit the metal box downwards and lost but I enjoyed every second of this game and the entire end sequence was beyond words for how well everything came together, big thanks for upping these tracks given there's no updated OST yet from the looks of it 🙌
what plays in my head when summer vacation starts: 1:26
The entirety of the game turned into a single level..I love this game.
2:25 this part is what hits me
Yeah bro it’s amazing
I love this song is perfect
pizza tower on the switch, 30 minutes or it's free
"Our delivery Squid will bring it RIGHT over"
Best track in the game
A perfect mix of "this is your victory lap" and "get a move on"
I miss you, Pizza Tower.
4:28 and onwards made me almost tear up. This song is so emotional in a way.
PIZZA TOWER ON SWITCH LETS GOOOOOOOOOO
Saving this part of the count down of the new year! 4:01
You know, it makes sense that a game that's characterized by escape sequences should end on an escape sequence
Let's take a moment to mourn the speedrunners who ran so fast that they missed the part starting from 4:20
Hardest beat drop ever
“Hey, where’d you get that pizza?”
*Talking without speaking*
"...I don't know."
I found it in that tower over there
First A+ tier, hits painfully hard when you hear it first time, the song at all, is precious
The level ✅
The song 🔥
4:02 is a masterpeice
When you Remember about pizza tower osts
gonna time this 2 new year
I hear an unearthly blue leitmotif, hell it even sounds like a remix.
I love how they didn't just uze pizza time and instead made an entirely new escape sequence song
4:01
All of the bosses and enemies, friends and foes making one giant leap to the exit to survive
Suddenly, the Pizzahead blockes the way. He wanted for Peppino to go down, and he will make sure it happens, even if he or anyone else will as well. Giant horde of paper cutouts as far as eye can se and in the middle of it he is, the final obstacle
He gracefully dodges bullets, deflects bombs or punches, and he is ready to fight
The crowd trembles and slowes down, but when all hope lost, he jumps out of nowhere
Peppino
He is fed up
He will not take any of this crap anymore
HE WILL ESCAPE THIS TOWER HERE AND NOW
A blinding white blob of a midle aged chef plummets at a march 10 into the wall, straight up pulverising it, tearing everything in his way apart
04:28 I guess this is the reason why you came here.
Nah, vine más por el minuto [0:00 - 5:39] pero de igual manera gracias
Yes it FUCKING IS!!!!
"QUICK!!!! GET OUT!!!!! GET OUT OF HERE!!!"
the fact that 2:14 has mellotron made me shit myself
McPig is a merciful bacon god
Quando a você tá la de boa na torre de babel e do nada começa a escutar essa música:🌚
At almost the end of the song it's a banger
Don't cry because it's over, smile because you will now go for the P ranks AND for the Noise update
5:10 this part makes you float
Can confirm, did float
I swear it sounds like a leitmotif from another game
All the monsters fleeing for the surface as the dungeon collapses:
I just beat this game yesterday and I already miss my first time playing it, I'm glad I have a bunch of screenshots from it. But damn this game is awesome, easily the best game I've played since a month after cuphead came out in 2017. Fantastic music, fantastic gameplay, tons of replayability, and you can play it with your parents and they'll probably enjoy it too.
4:27 is a insane hit
"Is there a lap 2?"-said I.
Egg’s Lap Mod adds “The Final Lap” with Pizza Mayhem
@@jess648 WE BUMPING ON A WALL WITH THAT ONE 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
"I don't have time for golf-"
"I should've had time for golf"
If this were an animated sequence you can pinpoint the moment Pepino starts picking up the other characters and the exact moment they all pay back his unlikely kindness by helping him overcome an obstacle during the escape.
Theres something so cool about a final Hurrah level like this
Like
You made it this far, time to go all the way
*termino la universidad y tengo que llegar rápidamente al bus antes de que se valla y me lleve a mi casa*
La música de fondo mientras me llevo a mis amigos conmigo para que tampoco lo pierdan:
That guitar riff in the beginning reminds me of a tune from PS2 Ratchet and Clank.
Edit: Not even a specific track, it just feels like it'd slot seamlessly into GC somewhere.
The song is basically "You scaled that tower, now you're climbing down it!"
Also if you realize it this song is in the same pitch as the intro cutscene for the game. Both songs use the pizza time leitmotif, so basically Bye Bye there is a mirror of time for a smack down
