I've seen a clip of a recent episode and I can see exactly why ratings have fallen off a cliff and it's being cancelled. Funnily enough another BBC Doctor show is on the verge of cancellation, does anybody know who I mean.
Thought it was a pretty good series from 2000-2009. It was generally more realistic & a serious attempt at drama with good actors. Then after the Woodson's left in 2009 it started going down the over the top soap opera/comedy route & the storylines became more unrealistic-mostly with not very good actors. What I have seen of it in recent years was pretty embarrassing. 25 years-which is what it would be if had lasted another four months is an incredible run for any tv series-let alone a British lunchtime soap, is there anything else in UK tv history of that type in that time slot that has lasted anywhere near that?
You will soon get used to it not being on after a while. Let's face it, 24 years is a good run. The BBC is reducing making new shows and concentrating on repeats and American shows. There is not that much difference to the 70s. When looking on IMDB, the number of people in the show that has been in Heartbeat, East Enders, The Bill, etc. I've never seen it as I work full time. I have been on holiday this week. I doubt people will get typecast as it is a daytime show. Now, if it was an evening show, that may be different. Now all we need is Casualty to end. That show has been on far too long. It was good when they concentrated just on the casualties. Since the early noughties, it changed to a soap with casualties. I rarely watch much on domestic TV and mainly watch streaming. I do watch the odd Police Drama or drama on ITV or BBC 1 and also MOTD. Channel 4 and Channel 5 may as well not exist on my TV. If I didn't watch MOTD, I could do away with my TV licence as I wouldn't need it. Live events require a licence.
The reason ITV scrapped Heartbeat and other shows was a bit more involved. As Facebook was taking off they wrecklessly spent millions and millions of pounds buying Friends Reunited from the Pankhurst's. It was a catastrophic move as people were deserting it so they had bought a Pup ! ITV had to restructure and they dropped some dramas . Heartbeat was an expensive program to fund with a biggish cast.
It's been rubbish for about 15 years. The last few years have been abysmal.

I've seen clips online about 'Graham', a doctor who doesn't agree to trans pronouns or something. They might have been the worst things I've ever seen
