I picked up my Epi LP Modern last week and I have to say, it is the FIRST Guitar I ever owned where I didn’t want to change the stock pickups, electronics/wiring, pots or caps. I could not be happier with this Guitar. I kinda wish they went the extra mile with not using plastic fret inlays, but I guess you can’t have everything. For a Chinese made Guitar, it’s absolutely astonishing. I swore I would never buy a Chinese Guitar, totally ate my words with this one. It kicks my Korean Epi’s butt all day long.
This is the best demo of this guitar on YT. Bravo! I don't get all the hate for the Probuckers. Yes, the SDs are clearer and more articulate, but the PBs have a lo-fi sweetness and earthiness to them. Kind of shocked that I would like stock cheap-o pickups more, but there it is. Wow, you are such and inspirational player to make a relatively inexpensive guitar sound like a million bucks. I"m so glad I found this video. Thank you for your efforts and cheers!👍🙏✌
The Probuckers are certainly not bad, in fact I'm using it on my Sire S7 now. But I needed a Les Paul type guitar with the classic JB/59 pair, for my presets programming activity
I'm not sure I would call the ProBuckers 'cheapo stock'. They are designed to be the most faithful representation of the original PAFs from what I read. I have listened to a ton of these with BurstBuckers, ProBuckers, Duncan variations. Sound preference is pretty much all that is going on IMO. All sound good, just a little different. I liked the ProBuckers Clean and the better clarity of the SD driven. Now what the hell am I suppose to do.... 🙂
@@CodyMWII have thought of that early in my ‘mod’ days but found out very early that actual pickup location at certain locations make a huge difference in sound. More than even pickup style. I believe the same reason harmonics works is the cause, strings move and vibrate differently at different locations. Strength length affects it too where the locations are, just like fret placement.
I have the Epi LP Standard 50s Goldtop 2022 with Probucker 1 (neck) and Probucker 2 (bridge). They sound fantastic! They are crisp clear and also punchy. Are very close to the more expensive PAF style pickups on market. From what I hear here, the Duncan's are also good sounding, but different. They are fatter and more compressed. Also I think they have a little bit more output. So no right and wrong here, just different sound. And your playing is stellar! Congrats!
I've just bought a Sheraton with the intention of immediately upgrading the ProBuckers. Until I heard them. They sound great. And the coil split in the neck position sounds so lovely. In short, they're going nowhere.

Even if probuckers are getting decent, they cant beat aftermarket pickups...Duncans are just clearer, with a wider frequency range. Hell they just sound much better
I own 4 post 2020 Epiphones with Probuckers, 1st 3 months thought they were best pickups, never change excellent clarity, no mud, after 6 months, started changing them cause, could hear thinner tone when distorted on all 4, by themselves, sounded fine, even good until compared with Seymours or DiMarzios. They sounded fuller, a lot fatter, richer tone with gain, the Probuckers had holes in the tone in comparison and overall thinner tone. Still, for Epiphone, Probuckers are their best sounding pickups, way better than the older pre-2000 Epiphone Probuckers that were muddy, undynamic.
@@danmayes4657 Maybe. But, I don't buy pickups to make videos comparisons, but because I need specific pickups for my needs. The JB is arguably the most popular pickup ever, so I need it in one of my guitars, as a reference, because I make presets for a living :) those videos are just a bonus

Them stock pickups are awesome !! Especially if want more bluesy tones but they have improved a lot on the pickups I must say!
I came for the pickups and stayed for your playing, sounds killer dude! 👍

Keeping the Seymour Duncan
@@thibderobAKAfremen great choice

Probuckers are great just stock. SD's have more high end clarity for a Strat Jackson setup. For LP = Probuckers all day.
Seems like the PB sounds much better than the SD on the clean tone..and the other way around on distorted tone.
i like the probukers better ive never been a fan of the JB but i do like the 59
You sold me on these. Definitely getting JB/59 for my custom.
You seem to catch those pinched harmonics better with the Seymour Duncan pickups. You sound great by the way.
How would it sound if you add only one Duncan? If you did what would be the best combination of a Pro bucker & a Duncan?
Seymour Duncans to me...like night and day

ProBuckers --> Hard rock/Blues stuff
SD JB --> Heavy metal and 80s stuff

The PBs stocks are better than SDs. Especially if you hit high notes. Especially when you play on neckpickups

Did you use the stock quick-connect system when swapping pickups or did you have to replace the pots when you swapped the pickups?
Dunno, I never do any soldering, it was done by a friend
Probuckers alnico II vs SD alnico V, obviously is different.
What amp are you using? Great playing
Thanks ! Axe-Fx III

seymour duncan sounded like Scorpion btw
