Yes, because incarceration is the answer to everything in America. Mental health problems? Incarcerate it. Homelessness? Incarcerate it. Drug addiction? Incarcerate it. Have you ever actually met a child that grew up in the system and ended up a well-rounded, contributing member of society? No, you probably haven't, because incarcerating juveniles before they're old enough to understand the consequences of their actions completely hinders their mental and physical development, which will impact them for the rest of their lives, and when they're inevitably released society will have to deal with the consequences of the ignorance of those who say "Just lock em up. Incarceration will solve it".

Another pathetic teen getting away with harming others due to a defective system. It’s really sad to see how downhill this place has gone. Too many people stealing cars and possessing guns or taking whatever they want or hurting innocent civilians. And those really harsh victimless drug crimes were people serve decades and the war on drugs for 40 years. That has gone well. How about school shooters? I think they should be donated to science for any and all testing unrestricted. So they can serve the people for life. That will detour people from shooting at our schools.
We need changes in juvenile law. From now on, the identity of juveniles should only be protected when they commit non-violent crimes. If they commit stuff like robbery, murder, arson etc.. we should know who they are!
I don’t know about teens but toddlers shouldn’t be accountable for anything they have no idea what’s going on, or the consequences. It’d be hard to pick an age where they become aware enough.

We should change the laws when consider some evil crimes teens commit. It’s one thing to be a teen and inadvertently make a bad decision or commit some kind of crime, like possession of alcohol, misdemeanor theft, etc but we should release names of minors who commit more serious crimes and charge them as adults. No more protecting these teens. If they want to do the crime, they should have to deal w/the full consequences of those more serious crimes, including their name being mentioned in the press for the terrible crime they committed. 2 brothers, 16yr old and 17yr old kids, dropped out of school and began burglarizing ppl while they were at work. They hit many houses and apts, mine being one of them. The 16yr old didn’t wear gloves, so they were able to get his fingerprints in my home. It’s believed the 17yr old did wear gloves and was in my home during the burglary but we only had proof of the 16yr old being in my house. However, all I know is he was in juvenile detention for 3 days. He may have served more time but, if he did, I was never told about it. The 16yr old didn’t bother wearing gloves bc he was a minor and wouldn’t get any real consequences. The amount of deadly crimes done by minors in the US has been increasingly alarming. And in all honesty, a lot these comes down to parenting. Also, sending her to prison won't technically fix her. This kind of mindset needs psychological fix. But hey, prison is the easiest option I guess. Throw the lot in and just don't bother with the root causes of problem.

And not all are hidden, serious ones that get turned into adult charges are too serious to hide. They also do get punished, it might not be the same as if they were an adult but it surely makes them think about their actions a little harder. Of course effectiveness is dependent on the individual juvenile court, some are really good at turning lives around while others would be better off sending their offenders to the better ones.

She could have the charge upgraded to adult and beings it was a premeditated so she could spend the next 6 years beings some states recognize 21 and then moved to prison

He and his brother were caught a month later messing around another home. I wasn’t allowed to know the kid’s name but the detective did tell me he had a long rap sheet and that he put the kid’s grandfather in prison, put the dad in prison, and was now putting the kids in prison. @@ruthlewis6678 LMAO 🤣. True.
It's not Peachtree GA. It's Peachtree City, GA
It's about time that the name and picture of minors committing crimes be shown.
This should be given serious consideration. And yes, this is a crime that an adult can commit on the same level.
Adult will get life with the possibleilty of no parole.
@@medinamenmedinamen.1467 No they wouldn't.
Maximum sentence for first degree arson in Georgia is twenty years/$50,000.00 fine.
@@patrickturner2417
That may as well be life, to anyone. 20 yrs is a long, long time. But certain crimes deserve that, plus more!
@@elaineewalt8137 IF she got the maximum sentence, and IF she did it day for day, she would go home at 34.....maybe 35.
Do you really want to compare that to a life no parole bit? For a 14 year old?
Twenty years, go home, as opposed to 40, 50, 60, maybe even 70 years?
@@medinamenmedinamen.1467 Yes, the way these juvenile criminals are treated is perverse and distorted. They learn early on that they can commit these crimes with impunity because they are shielded by their age. The judicial system is sending the wrong message here and it's actually "destroying" these kids. "Spare the rod and spoil the child" The judicial system doesn't even allow parents to discipline their child.
When you do adult crimes who cares about keeping this 14yr girl name a secret. Treat her like the adult she is.

Trouble with arson is that you are putting innocent lives at risk, no matter how minor the intended fire. Should be a life sentence for conviction.
Come on now. A life sentence, really?
Wow thank god you’re not a judge
You're more of a pschyopath than her! Ending a 14 year old girls life because she made Walmart loose money?
Its Walmart, she did the right thing.
First sentence I agree with. Second sentence I do not lol
Would you say drunk driving offences should result in life sentences because they put innocent lives at risk?
I'm 15 and i could never imagine doing something like this…
We need to stop differentiating minors and adults in courts, try them as adults and lock them up for a full sentence.
My buddy rode a stolen bike to my house when I was 13 and for that I had to go to court go through the scared straight program probation and community service and all I did was being at home when he came over with a stolen bike but they don't punish like that anymore especially if they are in a certain "community" had I taken place in a major arson like this back in 1993 I would have gotten 10 years but watch this Lil chit probably won't get 10 months with the excuses they bring up
Had a friend get probation for being out past curfew because he was riding with a "friend" who had a broken tail light out, who tried running from the cops. My friend could've died from the kid's stupidity and because of him unfortunately being in the wrong vehicle at the wrong time, he also had to deal with probation. Didn't help he also was in a drug phase and dropped dirty due to the random odds of not being prepared, further extending his time. Its been a few years since I've talked to him but I'm sure he's past that.
Your situation makes zero sense and wouldn't actually happen unless you committed a crime.
I live in the area. I went to that Walmart semi-weekly for groceries. Some amazing people were employed there and it was a real nice, well maintained Walmart. Even worse they had JUST finished remodeling a few months ago. Seeing some immature monster do something like this is horrible. I’m glad everyone was okay in the end, but the loss is still devastating.
They all get paid when the store gets cleaned up and inurance pays for the loss to walmart in fact walmart wins out of this since can claim more than the items are worth i would not be surprised if walmart paid her to do this.
@Johnny Rep Maybe he did. That's okay. It means' he has class . But a better question would be, are you illiterate?
@Johnny Rep Hahahah! Man, I wish! No golf cart for me. When I first moved there, the golf cart trails were an alien world for me.
@Johnny Rep It was honestly spectacular to see. Not sure if you’ve been to the area again recently, but they’ve only added more trails. I used to live in the apartments by one of the shopping centers and occasionally you’d just hear the rumble of a gas powered golf cart shooting down this tiny little path and teenagers hollering and laughing.
@Johnny Rep I have no idea what I’d do with that much cartage OR class hahaha
she is clearly deserving of being trialed like an adult and should be sentenced as one
We need to start charging the parents for what problems there kids are doing. if we you want to handle this problem. We need to start holding the parents accountable for their children.
An apple never falls too far from the tree
@@sendthis9480 they charged her not the parents, weren't you listening 🤪
I believe that is a trend that is starting to happen for these incorrigible children. Look at the parents of Ethan Crumbley in Michigan, being charged for murder, as well as Ethan. There's another case that the parents are also being held accountable. These parents haven't been charged yet, but I suspect they might be.
@@rhondaalbrecht if I remember it correctly the parents bought(brought) the gun he used to commit the crime. Not sure if it was for him or not, but there were posts by him stating it was his, so in all honesty they should be charged.
@@darklaw7766 Oh, I agree, 100%. But that's what it's going to take... the parents being held responsible for the lawlessness of their children, which they ALLOWED. In this particular case, the parents were there at the store, at the same time, together. To imagine that they were not aware of what she was doing is ludicrous.
That’s how to ruin your life, why does some youth have to be foolish
Parents
Her life is ruined anyway as well as all of ours. We're fixing to find out.
Many things can be the reason. The fact that their brain isn’t fully developed, could be going through things at the time, could be their home life… It could be a culmination of all of them too. I just wonder if she knew what could happen when she did it?? Like, did she think it would just be a tiny fire that could be quickly extinguished?? Or did she intentionally do it in hopes a huge fire would happen?? Sooo many things are possible in this situation. And so many ppl are going straight to saying she’s a psychopath when they don’t even know the story. Obviously it doesn’t matter her intentions because look at the results, but 🤷♀️
@@epiphonium Yeah right, like they aren't glued to social media 24/7. Have you seen what they watch? How badly many of them want to be the next viral star? Many of them are beyond our control and it's getting worse.

Since she is a minor, parents financially liable. They just bought Walmarts inventory.
