I made the mistake of reading through the comments, when it was around 155 comments, and I'm hoping you don't let the actions of some discourage you. So many folks, like me, appreciate the two of you so much, and we truly enjoy these videos. Please know how much joy you bring to us folks out here. Thank you!
Amen!
For sure!
I have not thought about O’Henry Bars in eons! So I had to look them. The candy bars have peanuts and caramel in addition to a chocolate covering. However. That would not deter me from making this recipe! They really look yummy!
So appreciate you both and so enjoy your channel! ❤️🙏🏻
Channel like this are becoming less and less. Hope they stick around for a long time.
You b are x so co😢rrect
I think the reason why people get upset about corn syrup as they seem to think it’s high fructose, corn syrup. If you use Caro they do not use high fructose corn syrup. People just hear corn syrup and think it’s the same thing as high fructose, corn syrup, which it is not.
That’s good information to know!
Also if you look at the bottle Tom had it said on the top right corner 0 cornfrutoce.
Precisely
And this new corn syrup is not as sweet as the older deadly one. lol
O'Henry bars have caramel and peanuts topped with chocolate.
Thank you so much for doing a video of my mother-in-law's recipe. She would have been so happy. - Dan
Dan, we are so honored that you shared the recipe with us and that we were able to use your mother-in-law's recipe in our video. We hope we did her justice and that she would have been happy with it. Thank you (and Jill) for sharing the recipe.
It’s a great recipe!
Thank you for sharing your MIL's recipe! It looks really good and easy to make!
I can’t wait to try these! What a great idea to have people share recipes that are dear to them! Great show. - Kathy
Thank you, Dan & Jill for sharing this recipe...
I cannot wait to try it...look's yummy 😋
I never understand why people criticize cooks on UA-cam. If you don't like the way they cook, just scroll on. No need to be critical. Don't like it? Don't make it. Simple as that. LOL
AMEN! Or criticize videos on UA-cam at all. They aren't required viewing.
I know right?!! It's like... Why watch and comment! If you don't like what you see or how they explain the recipes then they don't have to watch!!! Whatever happened to if you don't have anything nice to say... Don't say anything at all!!
Tom, you might have to change that series to Weekend Series. Two a week Saturday and Sunday. You are going to get hundreds my friend! We love this sharing idea.
Let’s Go!

Thank you Tom and Melissa for all your awesome recipes! Tom, you explain things so well! (The school teacher in you!) Melissa, you do such a good job filming, I forget there's even a camera being used. I feel like I'm standing in your kitchen with you!
Thank you so much for the nice comments. You are very encouraging to us.
You know those recipes are great when they are taped in the book. They didn't want to lose that one👍 Btw.. I love your shirt!
I will have to use extra crunchy peanut butter for my tribe here.
Same here! Jif, too. ❤
Fix some for me 😊
Also chopped peanuts sprinkled on top would make it more like Thoth Henry candy bar. I am anxious to try this recipe. I love Tom and Melissa. The presentation are made so people friendly. Keep up the great job guys.
Tom and Melissa, you have brought so much joy into my life. I am extremely grateful for your sharing of not just recipes, but sharing your life also.
Quick and easy for when one wants a sweet snack on the fly. Thanks to Dan, and Jill for sharing the recipe and thank you and Melissa for bringing to us.
Our pleasure! We really did enjoy this one! Dan and Jill knew exactly what we were looking for when we asked for favorite recipes.
Hi Tom and Melissa. Oh Henry candy bars are wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. I have made Oh Henry bars many times over my 52 years of marriage. I'm from Minnesota also. When our son was in the service and stationed in Bagad, I would send him a box from home once a month. I always included Oh Henry candy bars in his box from home. They were his favorite. I hope people will give these bars a try as they are good. I'm looking forward to all your Sunday recipes.
I love subscriber Sunday ! What a wonderful and novel idea!
Absolutely
Thank you! We hope you enjoy every recipe!
Uh oh, I love all the ingredients, and, more importantly , I HAVE all the ingredients. 😁 ty!! 👋 from Connecticut.
My grandma was born @ raised in Iowa and would make these while I was growing up, and later on I would make them as well for my family, haven't made them for many years ,thank you for the reminder, I will probably make some for Easter now thanks to y'all, peace and God Bless Always ❤
Wonder what the complaint was about corn syrup? That individual must not like pecan pie - a Southern staple!
For sure. If we didn't eat all the things that are bad for us, what would be left to eat.
Brocoli and Brussel sprouts. Maybe Tom can show us how to make them taste good.
These look more like a no-bake cookie and look delicious.
Original Oh Henry Bars are much different using these ingredients:
Crunchy Peanuts, Chewy Fudge , Creamy Caramel covered in a chocolate coating
I remember having Oh Henry! bars in the ‘50’s. One of things I loved were the peanuts you chewed. I’m going to top these with peanuts for some crunch! Thanks to the folks who sent the recipe and to you for sharing it.
Yes, definitely add peanuts.
O Henry bars are always at funeral meals in Mn and happen to be my husband's favorite. Great idea for Sundays and look forward to it.
That's so interesting that these are considered funeral food. It's funny how certain recipes evolve into things like that. We have found our corn pudding to be one of those items requested for funeral meals at our church. Thank you so much for watching our channel. It's great having you at the table with us.
You are going to get enough recipes to do this on the weekends for the next 10 years LOL!!! I can't wait to try this one! My husband will LOVE it!
We made these bars often, and my children grew up with these as a "sometimes" treat! After my mother died, my dad, who only did recipes on cards, not recipe books, got the directions from a cousin who also made these, and wrote it on a card, since the recipe we used was in homemakers' cookbook. He made these for his dartball club, and took them to a potluck at church, proud as a peacock becasue he made them himself! We always used semi-sweet chocolate chipes, and Jif, of course!!
What a sweet story about your dad! At one time, I had a small recipe box with recipes written on index cards! So, I can easily imagine him with his cards! Thank you for sharing your story with us.
Have you ever thought about making a cookbook? I love to purchase one. I enjoy watching you
I can hardly wait to make these Oh Henry Bars. I used to eat the O’Henry candy bar many years ago. Thanks to your followers for sending you the recipe and thanks to you for making them.
It’s so funny I came upon this video because recently I was looking for an old cookbook that my mom wrote in with a recipe for Ohenry bars, many many decades ago. Unfortunately I didn’t find her cookbook amongst the other ones that she left behind. But this is the exact recipe. Except, I feel like it was a no bake recipe. Not sure. So now I can make these again and enjoy them like I did when we were kids. Thanks for sharing.
That looks so good. I think that would go good with a tall glass of cold milk.🥛
Yes it would! Thank you so much for watching our channel.
😢ty fo sharing this looks yummy think kid's would love it and could help make it too thanks to Dan and Jill also mother for saving , sharing God Bless
Melissa, I am married also for 29 years now but I must say I have a little crush on your husband!😂 He has such a soothing kind voice and I enjoy watching your videos. He seems like such a sweet husband! And he cooks!😂
This is going to be so exciting. Seeing your subscribers gems as well. I’m sending one in from my ex mother in law. She’s passed, but it’s a Kentucky recipe. I love all the ideas my grandkids can taste test. 😊. Love your shirt Tom. Hey Melissa. 🙋🏻♀️
This idea is wonderful. We love watching your channel. You are the first to invite your audience to be part of your channel.
I copy the receipts and note who gave you the receipt. Now my nook will have receipts from many places.
You are creating a family for " Come Sit At My Table"🤗😘
Yes and you could put each of those in a binder and label it, Recipes from "Come Sit at My Table"
What if you and Melissa did that and sold the book book. It truly would be a nice collection and people would buy to see their treasured receipt printed. Just a thought. Live to you both.
We appreciate all these nice comments. Thanks so much for watching our channel. We are working on a cookbook right now, but you've given us lots of ideas for down the road!
I used to eat Oh Henry Candybars daily in the late 70's-80's. My favorite.
Oh Henry bars are owned now by Hershey’s and are available on Amazon.
Love this series. Going to be fun. Thanks.
I think I'd these were cut into "bar" sizes and dunked into milk chocolate individually it would be so much like the original candy bar!
We Canadians love “Sweet Marie Bars” (also a chocolate candy bar), a “no bake” bar version with Rice Krispies. I will make the O Henry bars with gluten free oats so family members with dietary restrictions can enjoy them too! Thanks, Dan and Jill and Tom and Melissa, of course!
Thank you for mentioning this! I found a bag of Rice Krispies I had stashed and was looking for a recipe to use them. 👍🤗
Hedgehog Slice
Makes 24
Ingredients:
Slice:
250g unsalted butter
1 can (395g) sweetened condensed milk
200g dark or milk chocolate
500g plain sweet biscuits (Marie, Milk Arrowroot or Digestives recommended)
30g shredded or desiccated coconut
Topping:
200-250g dark or milk chocolate
1 tablespoon cooking oil or vegetable oil or 10g copha, butter or coconut oil
Method:
Grease and line a 16cm x 26cm slice pan. Add the butter, sweetened condensed milk and chocolate into a medium saucepan and place over low heat until the butter and chocolate have completely melted, stirring occasionally, making sure it doesn’t burn.
Crush your biscuits, make sure you have some large and some small pieces. Add the biscuits to a large bowl with the coconut, and stir to combine.
Add the melted chocolate mixture to the biscuits and coconut, and mix together.
Add the mixture to your slice pan and place in the refrigerator while you do the next step.
Melt your chocolate with your oil and melt in the microwave. Take out your hedgehog from the refrigerator and pour your melted chocolate over, use a spoon to help it spread.
Place back in the refrigerator and let it all set completely.
Cut up and ENJOY!
I LOVE HEDGEHOG!
I can't wait for Sundays. I will be watching and enjoying your subscribers recipes. I am sure there are going to be a lot of great and delicious recipes. Thank you Tom and Melissa.
I just made these to take to a friends for dinner. HUGE HIT!! I could eat that crust all by itself lol thanks for a new favorite recipe.
Oh Henry! was an American candy bar containing peanuts, caramel, and fudge coated in chocolate,[1] sold in the US until 2019. [2] A slightly different version of it is still manufactured and sold in Canada.[3] This version is sold in the US by Hershey, under the name Rally Bars.[4]
Oh Henry!
We can still buy the Oh Henry candy bar in the U.S.A., it still comes in that yellowish gold wrapper with the brown writing😊. But what they made was not the Oh Henry I remember 🤷🏽♀️
I am going to try this, thanks to you and the dear person that sent it to you. How awesome.
I can’t imagine anybody not liking white corn syrup. I love it. I like to mix it with peanut butter on toast. I’ve also been known to put it on cornbread. I can pour it right out of the jar and eat it. I’m looking forward to seeing this recipe finished I may want to try it myself. Thank you.
We thought they were so good. We hope you make and enjoy them soon! Thank you so much for joining us at the table.
Thanks for sharing with us Tom and Melissa and the folks who sent in this recipe. Very easy to make and soooo very good to eat. Stay safe and have fun. Fred.
Looks really yummy. Thanks to Dan & Jill & mama of course for sending it, & to y'all for selecting it to share with us!
I've always said the key to getting the first one or in one piece is to cut the pieces big enough! lol
Sounds like an excellent excuse, I mean reason, to cut a big piece! 😊
Tom and Melissa, I found Oh Henry bars at Walmart. I love watching you guys. I have tried and saved many of your recipes. Thank you Melissa for including each recipie for us. God bless You and your family. 😂
Yes, love that they provide the recipe! I go right past the channels that don't. There are too many good channels like this one to bother with the ones not as considerate of their audience.
Walmart does sell them - they’re imported from Canada.
I love that recipe. That has created many memories and tasty treats 🎉❤🍫
This recipe looks so delicious. I love every recipe that you guys have made since you started this channel. I have wrote every recipe that you guys have made. I really love watching all your video's.
Awesome!!! I’ll give this recipe a try…1/2 of the O’Henry bar, I may add chopped peanuts on top of the half of the pan. ThankU
I will have to make these and give some to my daughters. Anything with oatmeal she says has to be healthy so it will be breakfast.🙂🙂
Thanks a lot! They are addictive! I ate half the pan myself over a days time 😂.
I would have the recipe laminated to preserve it. Sounds delicious.
This recipe looks great and the subscriber Sunday series is a wonderful idea. Thank you and God Bless you both.
