Thought I'd give another look at one of my homemade instruments. This is my Robert Johnson Crossroads tribute Diddley Bow. Hope you like taking a look at it. Thanks for watching and commenting, I appreciate it.
@billy6668 A one-string diddley bow is one of the easiest instruments to make. You could put it together in one evening once you have the parts gathered together. You should give it a shot. Thanks for watching.
good job..looks great and sounds cool...thanks for sharing!
Thank you very much, I'm glad you like it. You might want to check out my Robert Johnson Tribute resonator guitar. The video is called Homemade Guitar Finished - Robert Johnson Tribute. Thanks for watching!
@bm51879 Thanks man, I appreciate the nice comment. I notice you play the dulcimer. I've built a couple of cigar box guitars with dulcimer style fretting, much like a strumstick. Thanks for watching.
Great idea for an exclusive 'Custom' instrument - I like that fine painting showing Robert! Thanks!

Love Robert Johnson! Gotta build one of those guitars!
I believe I used the G String on that one. Thanks for taking a look, I appreciate it. I'm a huge Seasick Steve fan myself.
This is great. Nice job!
Thanks, I appreciate that.
I've only just discovered the Diddley Bow in the past few months..I'm so sorry it took so long lol. What a wonderful instrument. Great video, awesome build. The sounds these things are capable of amazes me.
Thank you very much. You definitely should build one, it's a fun project. Good luck with yours.
That’s really nice man! I love the theme.
Love the cars Didley Bows are fantastic.
Open tuning just means that you tune a guitar so that when you strum the open strings, it plays a chord. On my four string guitars, I tune them G, D, octave higher G, B.....which gives you an Open G chord when you strum the strings.
Really nice artwork !
Thank you very much.
@CarolinaCountryGuy Yes, that's a cigar box guitar.....standard 25.5" Fender scale. I'll post a vid on it in the days ahead. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for watching, I appreciate it! Good luck with your projects.
Good job. It sounds great.
@moekanz Thanks, I appreciate that!
@HEARTHEANGELSVOICES Now, there's an idea....thanks for watching!

Man, I have to say, your work is very nice and interesting.
nice artwork man
gunna build one now
@cycon666 I was selling them through my website,but I've shut it down temporarily. I'll post a video letting everyone know when my store is open again.
To tune a traditional diddley bow (on a wall) they would place a bottle underneath the string which acted as a movable nut, handy if you want to play in different keys, very handy. The percussive aspects were apparently always a feature, this is film somewhere of a bloke in Mississippi back in the 60's or early 70's and the guy was amazing and the diddley bow he used was just a plank on a wall with bottle slid almost half way under string and a 2nd bottle in one hand for slide.
@MrJRR67 I really thought it was cool that he built one. I have another diddley bow on my channel that is a bit more similar to his, except it has two strings.
@coffeefish Thanks
@KeniLeeBurgess If you get a chance, take a look at my latest build. It is hand-painted inside as well. The video is called: Homemade Guitar Finished - Robert Johnson Tribute - Part 8
i love the art.
@dannymcmuffin1 I agree completely.

Kate Le Jam(like strawberry) n Moondog have bin enjoying the vids of your instrument/artworks
TA from Australia...
Thanks, I appreciate that!
Your painting the artwork was quite well,, Robert Johnson looks pretty good,,, You must have some paintings too,,your measure of creativity is appreciated.
+Ray Ballestero Thank you. I did build a Robert Johnson tribute guitar as well. I think the painting of Robert is better in this one: ua-cam.com/video/6K9wt868pMk/v-deo.html
Totally enjoyed this. You SHOULD learn to play since you do a fine job with crafting homemade instruments. Thank you for the "Save Me" reference!
Thank you for taking a look. I've been working a bit more on learning to play, but it's still a work in progress.
Thanks for Sharing, I really really really like that!
that painting on there is sweet!
@RamblinAround My pleasure. I especially like the painting. Many builders make the mistake of using a bowl or cup for a resonator that is too sturdy. The strings (or in your case string) cannot generate enough energy to overcome the solidity of the resonator and make it vibrate. Commercial cones are very flexiable and rather fragile (hence the cover plate to protect it). Regardless nice work. Enjoy.
nice man , i am going to make a acoustic diddly bow tomorrow really simple , maybe one day ill make a real nice one like you did
+Jasper de boer Thanks. Good luck with yours, they definitely are fun to build.
have you made that diddly yet?
@@RamblinAround post us a video!
I like all your instruments! Just tryin' my self to make sort of a diddley bow actually, can upload a vid. later on when it's done. Really appreciate all the time you put out into making these guitarrs!
the potential as a new "old instrument" is enormous. the percussive nature of it is incredible. quite a sound you've got there. i'm no expert on native instruments, but this surely african in nature or origin.
@WolverinaWorld Thanks......now if I could just learn to play it...lol.
thats awesome, i made my first of the other day , i used a skate board and a small cigar box as the resonator. i i used the 6 string i had left over after making my first cigar box guitar. i looked at several of you videos, after seeing them i just had to build one. i do have a small video of the one i made, :) and your art work is great too
cool,good job.
@azzarbprime Thanks
thanks for sharing ....enjoyed
Great instrument!
yep and maybe use a beerbottlecap for pick that's what i do its so loud i love it
Best diddley bow site of all. :)
love it! my husband saw a movie with a guy playing a one string or it could've been a two string. well i would like to buy him one for father's day from our kiddos. so where can i buy one? please don't tell me i have to make it.
@buggyfast Thanks
