I've been a trainee corporate lawyer at a magic circle law firm for just over a year now, and I also recently pinches himself hit 100K subscribers here on UA-cam, so I thought it would be fun to give corporate lawyer and UA-camr life a difficulty rating across 8 categories... and ultimately decide WHICH IS MORE DIFFICULT!?
So, in this video, I compare life as a corporate lawyer with UA-cam video creation, the pros and the cons of each, and rate them both for: pressure, community, fulfilment, hours, structure, control, variety and future opportunity 🤔
02:12 Pressure
05:59 Community
08:50 Fulfilment
11:43 Hours
14:59 Structure
17:35 Control
19:37 Variety of work
21:39 Future opportunities

About Me
I'm a trainee lawyer, part-time UA-camr, son, brother, startup founder, boyfriend, black coffee drinker and plant dad. I graduated from Cambridge University (where I studied French and Spanish), topped my law school class and now work for a corporate law firm in London as a trainee solicitor (which takes up a lot of my time)!
Around that, I'm a big fan of discovering new ways of thinking, of balancing work with life, and of performing to the very best of my ability. Ohh, and being happy. And I try to share all that on this UA-cam channel 😀
Fun fact: I believe we massively overplay the role of “natural talent” 😮 AND… I also believe that TOGETHER, WE ARE ALL CAPABLE OF POSITIVITY, PRODUCTIVITY AND SUCCESS.

Wow, your videos have always added a lot of value but the value this video adds is next level!! As (coincidentally, M&A and litigation) associates at corporate law firms who are also trying their hand at UA-cam, we REALLY appreciate your detailed comparison of life as a corporate lawyer vs as a UA-camr. The points you made on fulfilment, control and variety in particular really hit home, and are actually contributing factors to why one of us has resigned. Thank you so much for such a thoughtful and insightful video!
I absolutely adore your content. Having just started studying Law at the age of 36, watching your videos have helped me massively map out a new career I want for myself. Thank you for producing as much as you have, your helping inspire thousands of peeps who want to follow in your footsteps!
Great video! Rather comforting being a future trainee lawyer myself to hear from you the manageability of the work! Would love to hear more insights from you as you progress through your traineeship.
Not sure why, but I find your videos fascinating. Have absolutely no relation to law but your videos on life and coorparate law are a compelling watch. Most of all though you show yourself to be a really nice genuine guy.
I don’t know why I was expecting UA-cam to come out as the more difficult one 😅 all your points about both law and UA-cam were so relatable, especially on structure and opportunities.
It's awesome to see the success you've had in so many different faccets of your life
2nd year law law student here, love your videos.
I found this video really valuable. As a practising lawyer and a graphic designer, watching your video has helped me conceptualise the factors to consider as I progress in both career paths and how to gauge my progress and fulfilment. Thank you Liam
Starrting my first corporate law job in Jan. Cant't wait to get started as our channel has given me an idea of what I can expect. Keep up the great work Liam. Shout out from South Africa.
Will you be at one of the top 5 firms?
I have started to follow you just yesterday, and what i have observed is that you are firstly the real me, and secondly you efforts are even worth more than my like and a comment. I dont generally comment on anyone's video, but you consistency and professionalism made me do so.
Keep it up, dont stop cause we wont stop wathcing you
Always coming back to your videos whenever I need some inspiration. I'm kinda doing 3-person job at my work right now and it's taxing me. Looking at you managing these 2 jobs kinda inspires me to get through it. What I really like about your explanation is they're always so contextual & spot on, Liam. Will keep on supporting your channel in the long run!
Hi! I'm a law student and aspiring UA-camr myself, so this video was incredible informative for me. Nice to hear about your experiences since you've made it to the other side in both domains!
Just subscribed to the channel. It’s extremely relatable as a full time teacher and part time UA-cam creator.
I really enjoyed your vlogs around Christmas and New Year‘s last year and would love to see more of that :-)
Love your accent...i stopped working on my youtube channel due to immense pressure of law school...i tried working in corporate firms but i found them very boring...now i teach law and i love teaching.. and will soon do an internship as a trial lawyer
So happy for you! So well deserved. Congratulations Liam
In a sense setting up on my own as a lawyer gave me both good bits of both the LP current things - the choice, variety, doing what you like but the money of practising corporate law. of me that tiny law firm business is the best of both those worlds but you cannot do it without that start in a good law firm which is where I started too.
Started my LPC and it’s been 🥴🥴 but love your law videos
Thanks so much Helly!! Good luck - just keep up consistently with the work and you’ll make it through!! 🤗
Great content Liam! I'm a litigator based in Poland, but I run my own small practice and started a YT channel year ago. Still getting used to the craft ;) Nice to see that there are other colleagues out there. Cheers!
Really interesting, insightful and honest video, well done on all your hard work Liam! You should be very proud as your content is very inspiring and has helped me throughout my sixth form and first semester of Uni studying law. If you remember, my Uncle is a lawyer living in Greenwich as well haha! Well I've now started to create UA-cam videos along side studying at Uni, and you were one of my big inspirations, so thank you for that :) But I really enjoyed you going through the different aspects in such an organised way and you mentioned some really valuable things :)
Congratulation for your Silver Button UA-cam, Liam
Hope in the future you can explore more your Corporate Lawyer life at Clifford Chance Law Firm

I am also have Master Degree in Law (Business Law)
So I know little bit about Corporate Lawyer life (but that's in my country Indonesia)
PS : Regards From Me in Jakarta - Indonesia

WE REALLY NEED YOUR VIDEOS TO KEEP GOING IN YOUR LIFE
Iife your are seeing this comment.THANK YOU!😊😊
been here since 50k subs.keep it up bro!
Yessss another video!!!
This is a really insightful video. Thank you. 🙏
The stress you'll be facing as an associate when you're out there managing deals/cases yourself will probably be pretty comparable to the stress you feel as a UA-camr.
dude, wow . I appreciate the hard work you do man . As i wanna be a corporate lawyer and I wanna open a youtube channel , I look up to you mate .Best of l
Thank you for this. In a way, this could be a video about the solicitor vs barrister career path. Barristers are typically self employed and have more responsibility on themselves, which is akin to UA-cam. And solicitors are vice versa! Very interesting, thank you Liam!
Love this one!
Tnx 🍻🤗
Thank you for sharing your life as a lawyer. I'm an aspiring lawyer and you have given me great insight of what my life could be. Thank you!
Lol when bosses checking on you, they give pressure instead of support
Well done Liam your doing an amazing job. Merry Christmas
THANK YOU LEIGH!!! 🤗😊😊
Keep going Liam, you’re such an inspiration!
Love this video I'm hoping to be a corporate lawyer when I'm older
Hey Liam, How do you manage your time and plan out videos and work together ? I have not been able to upload for 3 months now!
Love your videos
Which area do you want to specialise in?
loved the vid
I wanna be a corporate lawyer I am 12 would you predict it being a good career choice for around 2030 or 2040
The best career choice will be programmer because everything will be about computers
Could you please explain your subscriber to view ratio? Seems very different to the majority of 100k sub channels
Better or worse!??
Proud 🥲
How long do you spend as a trainee before you're a full lawyer?
Greet video 🤩 Hahaha those hundred views are from your mom and me, a normal Mexican girl 🤣
When you had to stay up until 0230hrs to get a contract signed - was it an international transaction? Thankfully, I never had to do anything of the sort at my level, although I do recall my boss telling me that he had done something similar.
Drink every time he says 'fundamentally' and you'll be on the floor after 10 minutes.
🙌🏿
“Building people that care about you” lol corporate law doesn't care about you whatsoever.
