Some of the instruments also sound like the Perplexing Pool, and I love that they combined the music of both Pikmin 1 and Pikmin 2’s versions of the area.
The thing I liked about Pikmin 1 is that Olimar despite being on a hostile planet where almost everything is trying to eat him, he could still see the beauty/wonder of the planet. Olimars shipwrecked tale definitely still kept that feelings with music combined with the frantic search for all of the ship parts. I’m also happy that they final put an area that’s essentially a tide pool. It reminds me of a level from empire of the ants.
When I first entered this area it was early in the morning (4, 5 am) and i was at the shore, in a room with a patio with a view of the beach, the sky was shades of blue, purple, orange, red, and I got to look out at the morning sky with this playing. 10/10
Olimar's themes for regions sound significantly more like traditional Pikmin themes. I love the 4 themes, I think they are great, but they give off a Breath of the Wild vibe in terms of sound design, a more simplistic format
I like how they mark a different feeling as well, While the protag is surrounded by the rest of the rescue corps and has a mission to collect energy and castaways the area sounds less, like a place to admire and more to explore, while with Olimar, you are alone, with the Pikmin and Moss, but alone as a person, and as the player has already explored these areas, now what you mostly do is admire them, just like Olimar
His themes actually sample the original! SSterrace samples impact site, blossoming arcadia samples forest of hope, and you can hear bits of distant spring here.
Why are all the good versions of these songs in olimars shipwreck tale? I was playing the game thinking the music was kinda lacking and then I play this and it’s like a slap to the face with a piano.
I think its to represent the difference between Olimar and the Rookie. While they both explore PNF 404, they view it differently. For the Rookie, its just a mission, they don't have the time to appreciate the place they explore. Meanwhile Olimar, takes it all in, admiring this mysteriously beautiful yet danger riddled locale. Basically: Man i wish there was a jukebox feature, that lets you toggle between the song versions.
It may not be the original distant spring but it does replace it pretty dang good I think the distant spring it pretty close to serene shores so that's why you can hear the distant spring music mixed in with this one
@mehdigeek it's harder than you'd think. The songs have multiple layers and the in-game files don't tell you what the songs are used for so it's a bunch of guesswork
The peacefulness that simply makes you want to lean down for awhile and bask in the sun, being subtly brushed off by the reminder of the opportunistic wildlife and the fact your life support will give out in less than two weeks. You may be in a hurry, but it won't stop you from admiring nature's greater sights... I sound like Olimar typing this...
more water areas in pikmin would be great. Having water be more than just a simple hazard but an entirely different kind of terrain to traverse could be really cool. I’d particularly enjoy if more pikmin could go underwater (blues could get some extra ability like bubble blowing or something). Maybe the old concept for a jelly-like pikmin could return and they could be used to break down stuff with bodily acid (similar to starfish) and also be sticky, sticking to enemies even when being shaken. Of course with the added ability to go underwater
Cause the main campaign is going for a more atmospheric approach like Breath of the Wild, While Olimar's Shipwreck Tale is more a homage to the classic Pikmin game play with more dynamic music
Since this song and other overworld songs have layers onto it, I wonder how cool it would be for a video showing all the layers one by one until it goes to this song here? Just a thought.
One of the best songs in pikmin history 👌
distant spring motif makes me so happy
Its so cozy
I think it's just a straight remix imo
Some of the instruments also sound like the Perplexing Pool, and I love that they combined the music of both Pikmin 1 and Pikmin 2’s versions of the area.
@@troytinnirello8673is there an example? I want to listen to this

Mangrove swamp?
Olimar's shipwreck tale in Pikmin 4 is seriously one of the most fun gamemode in Pikmin

please listen to Smoky Progg's boss theme. you're gonna cuss out Blood Moon extremely violently
I really like that it incorporates the song from the original Pikmin, The Distant Spring.
Im so glad this track and area exist. Its one of my favourite pikmin experiences
The game is really underrated
@@IdentifiantE.Slol no. The game just came out and it's selling well. How's that "underrated"?
@@alfonsobarroso1820 Unfortunately, Pikmin has always had this image of a forgotten license at Nintendo, but I'm glad the 4 sold well.
Me too! 🎉
I hope in pikmin 5 we will have a completely underwater area or at least a fully submerged cave with corals and fishlike enemies.
that'd be great! though, then there should be like more waterbased pikmin don't you think?
@@Antnest_could be a bubble based mechanic to bring in other types?
Submerged?!
@@Antnest_ honestly i think being stuck with a single regular old pikmin type could work well to set the area apart from the others.
maybe not fully submerged but instead like 90% deep water. would give blues more of a purpose so i would be down with it
Lmao I was just thinking "dang, I wish there was a louder version of this song" and low and behold
I turned my volume up unaware of this, rip my ears lol.
DISTANT SPRING 🔛🔝 FOREVER BABY WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Distant Spring, Perplexing Pool convergence

I’m pretty sure it’s so the unique theme every enemy has will work without it sounding awful
My mouth dropped at the sight and sound of this area. I want to live here in peace with all the pikmin and make sandcastles together
I agree! I wish it was possible to run away and live in pikmin forever
Might be the best theme in the franchise and I've been with Olimar since The Impact Site
I'll listen to this for hours on end. It's just so incredibly calming and nice to listen to.
I AGREE
The Pikmin equivalent of Aquatic Ambience
I LOVE HOW IT SOUNDS LIKE THE DISTANT SPRING OH MY GOSH
In this case OST could stand for olimars shipwreck tale as well
Yo, I had a nostalgia trip when I heard the hints of Distant Spring in this lol
Sounds like a blend of Pikmin and Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Time/Darkness/Sky music. Phenomenal
The Distant Spring: Good Future
I like the way you think. 🙌🏼
I love the fretless bass in this! Sounds just like an Ibanez Electric Upright Bass!
This is one of the best pikmin songs
People say the Pikmin 4 soundtrack isn’t as good as the other games but I love this song
Apologies for video disappearing, fixed low audio and reuploaded it.
literally the best song in the entire game
the bassline goes hard
It may not be the original distant spring but it does replace it pretty dang good I think the distant spring it pretty close to serene shores so that's why you can hear the distant spring music mixed in with this one
oh interesting 🤔
I wish someone would upload the entire soundtrack
Every enemies' different songs?!! That could take a whole decade...
It's being uploaded in parts right now, there's apparently 835 songs
@@subzerokyurem some of them are literally just dings or one note, why don't ppl upload full songs
@mehdigeek that's all some of them are

thanks so much for uploading this! Was looking for sun-speckled terrace but this will do for now!
this might be the best song in the pikmin franchise
it has nothing on the giant breadbugs theme tho
The game really came to life here
thanks for the upload! currently covering this tune so its a helpful reference
i just simply loved
Distant Spring used to bring me very good but also very catastrophic memories
I love this so much!
I'd really love Olimar's version of Hero's Hideaway if you can! I've only been able to find the split up layers when I looked
I can work on that for sure 👍
do you plan on posting the sunset versions of these tracks? I didnt even realize they existed until i paid close attention.
That can happen 👍
WHY DID THEY LOCK ALL OF THE GOOD MUSIC BEHIND OLIMAR'S SHIPWRECK TALE
Cause the main campaign is going for a more atmospheric approach like Breath of the Wild, While Olimar's Shipwreck Tale is more a homage to the classic Pikmin game play with more dynamic music
Nintendo was like: How about we just go all out on this one random song
sounds like something from endless ocean. anyone remember that game?
why does this hit hard tho?
Thanks for the reupload
Why is every single upload of this song on UA-cam the shipwreck tale version. I literally cannot find the normal version!
Same wtf!
Still having the same issue here lmao. So weird it's nowhere to be found.
