Just wanted to say keep it up and I really appreciate the length of these reviews! I loved how you pointed out the plastic at the bottom is dual-phase TPU making it both hard and soft. All reviewers I’ve seen brushed it under the rug as a hard useless piece of plastic they didn’t understand why was there over more outsole for traction. You’re the only reviewer I’ve seen acknowledge and understand its purpose and most importantly inform the viewers about it!
Played in the SPO player 1+ Halloween when it dropped and was in love however it ended after I burned through the rubber at the ball of my feet to the carbon fiber plate with 15hrs of use only. Also for me heel lockdown was bad unless I strictly used the Zion 3/se midsoles then it was solid and shoe was fun to play in but every pair I owned was getting the outsole wear really quickly so I sold them all.
Damn. That's crazy man!! You never hear these stories. It's all fluffy reviews on their website..... and at 15hrs of play alone?! I'll for sure try to see if I can play in them some more, and observe the wear on my pair.

@@ironbearjku2233 Thanks my G, You must be a beast! I need to see some footage! I'm with you on this one fam...The wade 808 3 ultra v2 and now the 808 4 ultras would definitely be my choice. Even when comparing to the player one plus, I found that I spent 60% of the test time wearing the 808s.
I bought the explosive midsole to use in my Kobe 8s but then the player 1 plus went on sale yesterday so I ordered them because the Halloween colorway is fiiiire
Thanks man! Yessir. I've been off the radar a bit. But I'm currently expecting a wave of new pairs. September should be a busy month for me. I'll be starting off comparing the Yu shuai 18 low regulars to the low 18 ultras, then I'll go from there.
Damn I think you’re the only one with a video comparing these two 🔥 I hope you can try the xtep jlin 5 cause I’ve been hearing hoopers getting injured from it
The support midsole is definitely plusher under the feet and the explosive midsole is decent in impact protection, but my one knock is if you're a lighter player you won't really feel that compression all that much (I'm around 6feet 180-185). If you want to knit pick, the explosive midsole gets really hot under your feet from all that potential energy. *BUT* The real flaw in all this is that these (explosive/support) drop in midsoles are slightly thicker, so they change the fit of the shoe. Which is already a problem, I've bought TTS, half size down and half size up and still couldn't get the fit right for performance. As a warmup shoe for indoor/outdoor I'd say its fine but its really expensive at that point. I even left a 5 star review on their site when I first got them but that was premature cause you put hours into this shoe, and you'll notice how cheap everything is. The traction and how light the shoe is are probably the plus of the shoe but durability, fit, lockdown and impact protection I'd give it a generous mid.
Thanks for the info man! I definitely get what you're saying about the fit. I only played in then twice so far and it's a bit of a struggle... with a thicker midsole, that would be way worse. The plastic feel and glued down parts definitely put me off as far as build quality. They might need to go back to the drawing board in terms of refining the base shoe first, before focusing on the interchangeable parts of the shoe. Appreciate the comment fam!
@@theshoesayerI wrote a long reply to this but to save you from all the reading. Stay true fam don't con folks into buying faulty shoes cause the brand offers you free ones. Damn bro! Sorry to hear about your injury. Wishing you a speedy recovery G. Thanks for all the support! The design definitely took some warming up to but the Piccolo theme certainly helps!
I hate the strength setup from player 1 plus but the evanlon-light setup they give you is GOD TIER for me I’m a light guard and the cushion is better and they’re extremely light and responsive. The strength drop in is so stiff since I’m so light I cant seem to break that cushion in…
Appreciate the sub fam! I'll choose the 808 4 ultra over the 808 3 ultra. The thicker boom midsole in the heel and the forefoot as well as the softer plastic on the outsole makes all the difference. The 4 ultras are bouncier and have better impact protection as a result.
Bro great video 🔥 I'm from Switzerland and we don't really have access to inside courts here. I'm 6'6 230 so I'm heavier and looking for a low top bouncy responsive shoe. Do you think 808 v4 or wow 10 low will be more responsive
Thanks bro. I would say WoW 10 low is slightly more responsive and has more impact protection. I would also suggest the anta Kai 1s (although they only ship to the US for now) If you are okay with mid cut shoes that play like lows. I would definitely suggest the wow11s if you play mostly indoors and the yu shuai 18 ultras if you play outdoors sometimes.
So I would say the 808 4 ultras are better than the v3 ultras. The thicker boom drop in midsole and the softer plastic in the outsole makes all the difference. In terms of personal preference, I've been alternating between the WoW 11s and the 808 4 ultras so I kinda like them the same. I might edge the 808 4 ultras because they have a more durable outsole and are more breathable.
So it's really close here... the thicker boom in the 4 ultras make it slightly less responsive compared to the AC 12, however the 4 ultras have the carbon Fibre torsional plate in the midfoot vs the plastic piece in the AC12s, which gives you more of a spring forward when running. So I would say you might be quicker laterally with the AC 12s, but quicker going downhill in the 4 ultras.
Not really, the drop in midsole for the 4 ultras are thicker in the heel and forefoot, so if you put them in he SPOs, that leaves less room for your foot overall, making your foot feel even tighter than they would typically feel in the SPOs... So in theory you could, but its not a great fit in my opinion.
Got you bro. I would go with the 4 ultras, it has more bounce than the AC12s and the impact protection is improved from the previous versions although it's not the best out there. It also has a carbon fiber plate so better stability and energy return for your position. The midfoot strap is also really nice and keeps you locked into the shoe.
@@PrinceynerLionel sure thing bro. so from my personal experience, the wow 11 is more comfortable for wide footers (especially the forefoot) and has better impact protection. The 4 ultra has slightly more bounce to it, has by far the better traction performance on dusty surfaces, has a more durable outsole( do not play with the 11s outdoors please), and is more breathable. I started off playing a lot in the 11s, but these days I've been enjoying playing the ultra 4s a little bit more.
I got a question, just want some matter of opinions. So when you are reviewing a sneaker , do you add in your personal performance during the day when hooping, For example today I played in my WAY of wade All city 12 DNA colorway for the 1st time.. they needed no breaking in time.. I played good went 4-1 in games. So I probably would include player performance in the reviews as well.. Just curious if anyone else may do this.. Also just a side note, i personally believe all basketball sneakers should have traction setup like the player one plus.. like tire grip for longevity. That herringbone traction is it.
That's an interesting take bro. So currently I treat Cushion, Traction performance, Traction durability and stability as my main performance KPIs. I believe those are the factors that actually make me play better in terms of improving my overall skill attributes and influencing my performance on the court.... and then I take other things like fit, design, and affordability separately. It's really similar to what you've expressed, I feel those 4 performance related factors have the biggest impact on how good I play on any given day.
I would personally go wow 11, then ac 12, then shockwave pro... the ac12 does have a plastic torsional plate vs the carbon Fibre plate in the shockwave pro, however I prefer the way the AC 12 plays. The shockwave 6 pro should be out soon hopefully though, so I'll let you know how that plays
It runs short for me. I went tts and My toes are right in front to the point that it hurts when I move because my big toe bumps against the front of the shoe. I would go at least half a size up, and a full size up for players with very wide feet.
Drop ins are generally worse at impact protection bro. Mostly because of the stiff outsole. So I would steer clear. The Wade 808 4 ultra are the best I've tested with a drop in midsole in terms of impact protection but I would probably suggest you go for something like the Way of Wade 10s/11s, Anta Kai 1s, Wade All city 11/12/12 encore, Harden Vol 7s/Vol 8s and the likes.
I'll try to line that up bro. I think the 4ultras are better than the 3 ultras which were great. They kept all the great things about the predecessors, then added a thicker drop in midsole and softer plastic in the heel to address the impact protection issue. The mid foot strap in the V4 ultras also keep you stable and locked in despite the thicker boom midsole height.
Personal preference.... I'll go with the 808 4 ultra... only because it's more comfortable for my foot type, and I love the lock down from the midfoot strap
