My late dad loved Test cricket and he used to say, a great Test match is one that leaves you with more questions at the end of it than answers.
Great series in prospect. Congrats Australia, and well played all the way to the final overs England. Roll on to Lord's
The only important question for England is whether they want to play the country’s best wicketkeeper, or persevere with a hope of a few more runs at a higher strike rate. And if you compare the test and FC averages of Foakes and Bairstow you’ll see it really is only a few more runs.

Great victory from ausis possibility for win was changed
*Yeah but it also depends greatly on who is playing - the same TEST format when played between Afghanistan and Australia or Zimbabwe vs England is totally boring. And this is exactly the problem we have created for ourselves - by giving TEST status to very weak country/teams, we have diluted the value of TEST cricket.*
*IMO, Test cricket should be played only between the top 4 or five countries - and that's it.*
*How good is the value of a TEST 100 or a 5 TEST wickets haul as an English or Aussie player playing against Afghanistan or Zimbabwe or Ireland?*
Every session match was turned in both team pocket but some fielding as well as dropped of catches got cause to England in huge impact

It is proven that Bazball is different from Cricket after all where you need so much patience, resilience, concentration. Well done Aussies❤
This comment shows how little you know about cricket. England set Australia 282 to win with just over a day to play. Thats after most of 1 day was wiped out to rain. Only 2 sides in the history of test cricket have chased down over 280 in the 4th innings to win at this ground & Australia have a poor history in run chases. So at the end of day 4, England were firm favourites to win.
England would have won if they held their catches on the final day. That had nothing to do with Bazball, catches win matches.......
So according to you, Bazball is a theory that guarantees you 100% win rate in test matches? England have won so many matches and changed so much after the introduction of Bazball but that doesn't mean they'll become invincibles with Bazball and never lose. Also, it's not like Australia have got a thumping victory over them that'll completely shatter the idea of Bazball. Australia have merely won this game by a small margin knowing that England dominated most of the game and lost only because of their own mistakes of dropping catches and declaring early on day 1, not because of Bazball.
@@LavishDgoat The declaration wasnt the mistake. Australia won with 5 overs to spare. If England batted 10 more overs, its a draw.
And bazball is about bold declarations. Saying the declaration was a reason but not bazball completely misunderstands what bazball is

Agreed mate. Aussie fan here and I can’t remember a test match like this. Every half an hour it felt like the power changed hands. Bring on the series.
The fact that Aus’s top 3 batsmen all combined for less than 100 across both innings, no starc and hazlewood being massively under used, and still winning is massively worrisome for England, but also shows how good aus’s depth is.
On the other hand despite England’s outstanding fielding to limit scoring, their missed opportunities (mostly bairstow a poor keeping) and dropped catches ultimately cost them. Had they stuck, the result could’ve been different. Sets us up for a fantastic series.

Great player, but his captaincy and field placings leave a lot the be desired
Looking back at the slow-motion replays, the intensity on the faces of the close fielders says it all. This is another Ashes series living up to its expectations. Congratulations to the Aussies. Four matches to go and the series is not decided just yet.
England felt 50-60 runs short
That declaration on day 1 cost them the match
Could have batted till the end of the and declared on some 450-460 runs
But ben's field placement was on point 🔥❤️
Yes agree with you
You would take 232-8 and still 50 runs to be scored with two wickets in hand
Ashes first match england learn new things test cricket old fashion good
the only difference it made would have been a draw isntead of a loss.
there was what 5 overs left in the test? Eng dont declare and you take those overs off Aus they end up 8 down with 30-40 runs behind at the end of the test
@@comeatmebro3229 it doesn't work that way buddy
ENGLAND FIELDING 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 "OH HES KNOCKED IT OVER THE BOUNDARY" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
That declaration hurts more than anything for England rn 😢
tell me you know nothing without telling me you know nothing
seriously?? 72 runs were needed and only 3 wickets to take... Come with a better excuse... Praise cummins U fool
No point in declaring when Root was still in just to have 4 overs at them…it’s super aggressive, bordering on gung-ho and it’s cost us
Okay easy there Jon Snow
Cummins masterclass
What an amazing end to this great Test, just as we expected on day one. It was completely moving for both the teams but in the end the "Test Champion" showed their class to grab this outstanding win. Congratulations team Australia. But all credit goes to the England team for their result oriented declaration at the first inning to witnessed this amazing Test match. Waiting for the next battle. Good luck 👍
England just didn't get enough quick runs, too slow
This is the batting line up where bowlers and keepers had done the job
If the Indian team was playing instead of Aussies they must have collapsed and suffered a 150 runs loss
If RP was there...?
True and after loosing WTC these shameless Indian cricketers went on holidays with their wives and on top of that putting photos on social media.
@@jhaangjhaango3936 250 😂😂
@@jhaangjhaango3936still they will lose. Only RP is not playing last wtc final RP made century still india lost. Indian team management too pathetic just playing politics. India would have lost by 200 runs for sure.

Nothing can beat the tension, drama, enthusiasm of this test series. Eagerly waiting for rest of the matches.

Much better than Indian cricket.
India spoiled the beauty of the game
That's what is called a Captain's innings. 🔥 🔥
England fielding efforts is absolutely brilliant.. ❤️🥵
They won my heart
Come back to strong Jimmy❤️
What a game of cricket !!! Far more interesting and exciting than WTC final...

Australia showed why they are world champions .🎉🎉
My all-time favourite cricket series... The Ashes...
Love from India...
I Hope Indian Cricketers are Watching this Ashes test match. These players sacrificed huge amount of money for not playing in IPL to win a test game for their Country
People will Remember you for how many games you won for the country and not how many crores you earned in IPL ❤️
Same for pakistanis too not playing ipl loosing home series to england , Australia, newzealand that too in 3 same pitches of their own country, indian is far better than randisthan
Their kids will. Always get the bag. Indians don't treat their athletes well. No point stroking their egos at your cost. No thank you.
yeah, these ipl ads like mpl are weird asf too..
It's not called a test for nothing, and it's not played for five days for a single match, and over five matches for fun. It's a true test of grit and determination! Congratulations to both teams for a fine display of sportsmanship! A well deserved win Aussies!!!
Absolutely...imagine this sport in 1970s and 1980s when WI was at its peak, India was growing up and AUS / ENG was battling it out within themselves and vs WI

No matter who wins… Ashes and Test cricket played in England is a treat to watch👏👏👏
Especially when the Aussies win like that 😅
It is always better to watch when it is in Australia because the Aussies aim up
When England turn up in Australia they roll over and get pegged
Because ashes in Australia is one-sided one😂!
England miserably fails!!;;!

That declaration in first inning by stokes 😢😢
No, only that declaration gave England a chance, else it could have gone towards draw. England missed a lot of chances in the field and that cost them.
No bro Aus would have choked if they had to chase 330+ runs
They declared with 2 Wickets left and Aussies won by 2 Wickets. Don't take away the credit for the outstanding win.
@@afirr520 you can't say that. No one knows that it gonna rain in future. Declaring in that situation is a bad one when root going all guns blazing. Should have easily batted those 6 overs and score should have reached 450
Even if they could add 50 runs, the Cummins-Lyon partnership would still chase it down.... England was simply unable to break the 50+ partnership of Cummins-Lyon
My advise to Ben stokes, Don't cross the limits of test cricket just respect him and don't be over confident 👍
Ben stokes is an excellent captain. His field placements and bold declaration shows his character. No other captain will take bold decisions like him. Australian fighting spirit is excellent.
His decision lost them the game. I know who I'd rather be
Sala Boland bhi hamare pure indian team se acha khelta h....
Australia 🇦🇺 won the match, but England fielding efforts was next level 😮, they won my heart 💕
Yep. I loved Stokes dropped catch. 👍🏻
Also loved the two mis-fields that lead to match winning 4's.
Let's face it, England just can't field as well as Aussies because we have it in our blood.
Don't cover they lost winning opportunity with poor team performance
Every country should boycott cricket world cup 2023. Because India stand with Russia and India is against Ukraine
@@Mohammed-rj4jd 😂😂😂😂LOL 😂😂😂 try to elect good one who will change ur country fate.
Agree there. One can still question the decision to declare on the first day so early, but there was obviously thinking behind Ben Stokes decision. Almost worked though, because that brilliant test match went down to the wire
One of the Best Test match in History Both teams Played well Congratulations Australia 🇦🇺 one man Army Usman Khawaja❤

@@GIBBO4182he’s not wrong you should be able to get Nathan Lyon out with that bowling attack. You have to blame Anderson and Ali for their lackluster bowling and the quickies at the end
they lost due to quite a lot of misfield on day 5 that catch dropped by ben stokes, so many boundaries going through slip and first slip and those fielded balls that went for a boundary. You can't win with this performance
