Thank you Teddy for reviewing nthe Victorinox! I've been waiting for this video. I have the full black INOX Carbon 241777 in quartz, and I'd say that was my gateway watch that started my collecting journey.
Love the watch and the best I can describe it is the Swiss GShock, which is a high honor to give.

I’ve had a quartz version of the INOX on a rubber strap for about 7 years. It’s had plenty of use and been knocked and banged a lot and used in varying temperatures and condition. It’s been fantastic, tough as old boots and I’d recommend it highly . Some serious bargains for the quartz versions on a well known auction website. If fact at one stage it was possible to get a new steel bracelet version complete watch, cheaper than Victorinox were quoting for a replacement rubber strap alone, that’s just the strap, no watch 😀

More great content, I think a bunch of us watch enthusiasts overlook that the good old "Swiss army watch" is a great place to start. I have a 20 year old quartz Victornox that I wore every day for at least a decade before discovering Tissot, and that watch is the reason I enjoy these types of videos and have become a modest collector. Thanks again for bringing the great content.

I have several Victorinox watches (as well as other products). My favorite Victorinox watch is the I.N.O.X. Professional Diver with the Quartz Ronda 715 movement. I'm coming up on five years of ownership and it's still using the original battery! It is also the most accurate watch in my collection by far. This is the most durable piece that I have ever owned. I do not hesitate wearing it no matter what my plans. I wear it nearly daily and there is not even a fine scratch on it. I bought it new with both Rubber strap and Beautiful bracelet for $399.99 on a Black Friday sale. I cannot recommend the Quartz I.N.O.X. enough.

My wonderful girlfriend gifted me the quartz version of this watch in 2019 and despite the emotional aspect, it’s the watch I spend more time admiring and the one I get more compliments from people. I don’t have a huge wrist but if you micro adjust the bracelet - which is pretty easy - it fits perfectly. I can’t recommend enough.

I have this exact model on the wooden (that’s right: wooden) strap. It looks like leather but is actually made with tiny squares of wood. Not the most comfortable strap but it looks amazing. I also have the quartz version with a black face on a black leather strap. Both are absolutely incredible watches, and I find myself staring at my wrist more with these watches than any other in my substantial collection. They are absolutely gorgeous to me. It’s like they were made exactly for my 8” wrist. Other than the very weak lume, I can’t say enough good things about these watches. If you have the wrist size to pull it off, you will NOT be disappointed.

Important thing for any prospective buyer (Like myself) the INOX's Dial is only the dark 'Midnight Blue' colour like you see in this video when the watch is inside under soft lighting, outside or under strong/bright lighting it's a far more muted blue.
I, personally, still intend to purchase one as I think this is an amazing little known bargain that had it a more auspicious badge would be 4x the price. But just be aware.

I just bought a blue Inox on a six inch wrist, this is a very comfy timepiece, and the legibility is excellent, never mind case size; the face size is spot on. I genuinely don't feel this watch on the wrist as it fits so well with the rubber strap, and in quartz, perhaps eth case is slimmer. Yet it feels heavier to pick up in the hand, strangely. This watch is no slouch.

My first automatic watch is VICTORINOX Alliance Mechanical Automatic Black Dial and its movement is ETA 2824-2. After that about 4-5 years, I have to service it. Now, I have more watches with SW 200 movement and I think the ETA 2824-2 in my Victorinox isn't good as another watch with SW 200. Anyway, I also have a watch with ETA 2824-2 Top Grade and its accuracy is the same as COSC specification.

Was also wondering when I'd see a review as they haven't been talked about much but that will maby change! Coincidence? This is the same one I was most interested in, it is a smoking watch for the price imo and I wonder if the quartz version in has a smaller height and weight as that's a great deal as well. Tissot PRX and PRX 80 are another great option imo in that price range!

I have a Victorinox Swiss Army Quartz, not really sure of the model, it was a gift I received in 2008, I wore it everyday until March this past year, gave it zero respect for 15 years, just dogged the hell out of it, and then knocked the crown off some how, I sent it in to get fixed and they didn’t have the parts. Wow I'm so glad you made this video, I had never taken Victorinox watches seriously before, I figured they were just cheap clunkers trading on the 'Swiss Made' aspect to get a sale.
But that INOX has a beautiful dial which looks like Entry-Level Omega quality, and the various angled cut outs on the steel bezel give off a Octo Finissimo / Nautilus / Royal Oak vibe. As a whole I prefer this to the Tissot PRX Powermatic 80 which is a similar price. I'm not a fan of Dive Watches, I know I know, sacrilege, but this is a nice in between I think, Diver Specs and Sensibilities with an Industrial 70's design. Your video convinced me, I'm gonna get one. Thanks for that mate. Always great to learn about an overlooked watch.

    • @pistonburner6448
      @pistonburner6448 2 роки тому +3

I don't think it's maybe Omega levels of delicate precision, and it's not meant to be an intricate and delicate design. But I think it's above Omega quality in how they've shaped the case. So comfortable. Well, actually it is intricate and precise when it comes to the dial...
I've looked at several other options when looking for a new everyday beater watch, and this INOX is well above the quality of all the others I've been looking, at many easily double the price! It really is surprising that your comparison to Omega is valid.
To me the design is amazing since it's a rare case of a very original design that just looks "right"! Feels right too. It think this will become an absolute classic. What's going to cost me is the price of all the straps I want to buy for it, since I can't decide on the wooden one (the top of that waffle design is not leather as this video incorrectly said, it's wood!), or the steel bracelet, and I want the rubber one in any case for sports plus I would really like to have the paracord one too! Four straps? Oof...

Just tried on the INOX with the wooden strap at Victorinox... I really like it! Seems much higher quality than its price would suggest. And above all the design is really original and to me a home run. Really comfortable, isn't as big as it seems or numbers suggest IMO. I have a small wrist and it was not only visually a good size but comfort-wise too.
The dial is a bit small, and I'd normally not buy a watch so simple so I'd want a chronograph version or at least GMT. Nothing else to complain about.

      Dear William!
I have a 8 and 3/4" (21,5cm) wrist an I had to take off 1 link. I think if you have a 9,25" (23,5cm) wrist it could get tight.

I’ve been seriously considering an INOX. Teddy, I’d like to see you also review the new Hamilton Khaki Navy Scuba auto. It is also 43mm, nice steel bracelet, 300 M water resistance, and has the advantage of an H-10 movement with an anti-magnetic spring for just under $1k. If you want an anti-magnetic INOX, you have to go with quartz.

@@williambireley2529 My apologies. I’ve never paid much attention to that watch; I love Hamilton but the 24 hour scale on the dial makes it look too busy in my opinion. If I could get over that it seems like a great watch otherwise.

53mm lug to lug is crazy. I was wondering if victorinox was any good and I'm watching this video to learn a bit more, although this is a eye catching design, this lug to lug is just too big for most people out here.

Both are accurate enough and well made. Chose based on your preference in design and use case, which are very different.

As noted, it's a big watch far beyond the size that would properly fit my small wrist. Otherwise, it's a beautiful watch and one that, if offered in a size under 40mm, I'd definitely consider. For the price point, it's nicely finished, with an attractive dial and quite nice bracelet (rubber strap also very nice). If they ever wanted to branch further into watches, they might consider dropping the "Swiss Army' on the dial and just go with Victorinox as the branding, which might help expand the customer base beyond those looking for the "Swiss Army Knife" of watches.

    Hey Teddy,
My local watch dealer is no longer going to carry Victorinox because he told me that Victorinox wants their dealers to sell ALL their products not just one area or two such as maybe watches and an assortment of their knives. They want them to sell their luggage too. I think this is a huge marketing mistake if Victorinox wants to appeal to the collector market as well. What’s your experience? I got a really good deal on my INOX professional diver from him. He says it’s a shame because he sells a lot of their watches and they’re good quality.
