    Great to see something we all talk about a rebore but do no know what it entails. We do now, so thank you.

    Very nice machine. Very clever that it centers itself above the already cut surface.

    First vid I’ve seen of yours mate. Bloody job well done. Fellow engine machinist 🙋🏻‍♂️ here. Final note about the chamfer displays how good u are as a tradesman👌 💯

    Great video...only video i've seen on offset boring...
    What causes the need for offset boring...

      To maximise available service space between cylinders to increase headgasket reliability

    At that bore size, how much slop does the headgasket have on the studs? Not enough to be a problem between cylinders?

      @ACDodd  Рік тому

      There is a fair bit of movement so you need to carefully place the gasket when fitting the head.

    Thanks for the video! What are your thoughts on torque plates for boring the the A series engine?

    • @ACDodd
      @ACDodd  Рік тому +2

      Torque plate are used
      For honing. Having never tried one I could not comment, however if you use a torque plate, seeing how much the bores move with ambient temperature changes I would suggest that if you torque plate hone, I would be wanting to do it with the block at full operating temperature and the water jacket pressurised. In this case the optimum clearance would need to be determined at operating temperature as these clearances are not known

    And to bad you can't check the bore in between 2 cuts?

    • @ACDodd
      @ACDodd  Рік тому

      You can, by putting a dial bore gauge in from the bottom of the block, you just need a suitable frame to hold the block and boring machine high enough to gain access

      @@therealspixycat the reality is you don’t need to, the accuracy afforded by the 944, is that what you set, you get

    Can you cut O rings on a block? If you can do a vid?

      No, not tooled up for it.
