I started run/walking when I was diagnosed with diabetes in 2005. It was the best thing I could have done for myself. I inherited my father's heart disease. As a result, I had two heart attacks. The doctors told me that I would not have survived if it weren't for the work I put in to strengthen my heart. Running is what did it for me. I am continuing to run/walk as part of my training for the 2020 NYC Marathon. I encourage those who don't run to start slowly and remain consistent. You will get stronger and be able to run longer. Listen to your body and don't give up. 🤓

But then your video was shown to me by the algorithm and now I know that I can do at least 20 minutes of running every day. Which is perfect because yesterday my baby daughter, my 2nd child was born and I want to commit time to running but I need to turn my efforts back a bit. Thank you man!! This video is so awesome! Thank you for making this video. You probably won't see this, but recently I've been struggling when it comes to running. I was feeling sad about a lot of things at the time, and I mean I am still sad about quite a bit of things, but like you said running really helps you feel happy, and it does. I loved running so much that I joined programs, and elite clubs and into high school. But I got sad because Im not fast like a lot of people. I've been running with my teammates for a while, and I don't feel like I had improved, so it really struck me down. I always compared myself to my teammates and I felt embarrassed you could say, because I just couldn't keep up with them. And then I came to a point where I didn't want to run at all, it took me so much motivation to just go run once a week. And because I had let myself fall into that hole of me thinking I wasn't good enough, I felt even more sad.
But I really wanted to change that, so I've been trying now to change my habits and run everyday. This video was very inspiring to me, and it's really made me realize why I loved running in the first place. I hope to get back in shape like I use to be, if not better. Thank you so, so much for making this video. 💕
Edit: Watched some more of your videos, and now I'm subscribed :)

Hey Emily! Hate hearing that you've been down lately but I hope things turn around for you. One step at a time! I really think getting back to running again will help. It's so hard not to compare yourself to others - even I struggle with that sometimes - but we really need to only compete with ourselves. Even really slow progress is progress! I always say you should do your best for that day and that can be completely different than the day before or day after. Some days I can run 10 miles with no struggle and other days 7 miles is ROUGH for me! Our bodies and minds are so strongly connected, too, so thinking and speaking positively really help keep me going and pushing through my challenges. Thank you so much for subscribing! glad to have you here :)

This guy's personality intoxicating. Such a genuinely happy and positive guy. Very motivational. I desperately wish I could run. I just turned 40 and had a hip replacement last year. I still lift weights regularly and get cardio from an elyptical, but it's so boring and tedious that I don't look forward to it. Running is too high impact and painful after my surgery which really gets me down. I can no longer play the sports I loved dearly like basketball, football, or do martial arts and these are the things that helped me deal with depression and life. I have lost my cathartic outlets and it's very hard to replace them because of the limitations after my surgery.
