Cool concept but one thing I never understood about how they teach to bridge out of this is to go against the direction of the cross- face. I understand your opponent is already trapping himself for you on one side but the whole reason he is applying a cross-face is so you can't go in the opposite direction.

You're not missing anything, if they use a correct lat grip crossface that head adjustment won't work. This cross face pressure was terrible.
How were you able to turn your head out of the cross face?
By driving your neck into their wrist with leg drive
