I'm here on the upper TVA ( Ft.Loudoun / Watts Bar ) . We usually do pretty good on the channel edge throwing a walking bait over the grass . Especially in the rain . 👍👍#EASTTENNESSEE

The old Shad Rap is tough to beat this time of year!

It’s so weird because everyone’s kind of split on topwater rods. Some pros like the shorter rods like the ones listed in the description, and then some pros like the 7’4”-7’11” rods for farther casts with the walk-in baits. I guess a 7’3-7’4” medium action wouldn’t be bad for it because that’s a kind of happy medium…

Hi Shadow Swordfish. A few considerations are angler height and whether you're target casting or bombing baits in open water. Taller anglers have more clearance from the water and don't fight it as much when working a bait with downward sweeps. Shorter rods (relative to angler height) get the nod when target casting around cover. Casts need to be short and accurate in this situation, and shorter rods deliver better. Distance casting is usually desirable in open water situations, so longer topwater rods get the nod here.

Also something he didn’t say that I’ve benefited from to find the fish late in the year is to watch those predatory birds that chase the bait fish, because the bass aren’t the only thing that chase them fish they’ll follow them to get their fixing and theyre easy for you to spot
