I may not be able to say if Apostle 's actions were right or wrong but for some reason this incident has helped me correct my mistake especially concerning allowing distractions when am trying to give my time to God. I now put my phone consciously on silent during worship cos I feel God deserves that conscious effort of respect and reverence..I realized I do put my phone on silent or vibration when am in a meeting at work..like I never forget at all...why not God? So this entire situation helped me to check me ....
Please give yourself more credit. I can see that you are a child of God, and you have the scripture. You can read and say when something is wrong. Think about the number of times Jesus was interrupted during one of his meetings, how many times did he leave the people he came to save? It was wrong to deny the entire congregation the message/prayer God sent you to deliver because someone's phone rang. People will always be at different levels of maturity in church, and honest mistakes can still happen even among the most committed in church. I am happy you have become more deliberate with your phone (I should also be more deliberate), but does it mean that in this life our phones will never ring out one day? should the pastor walk out then? What will apostle do when the devil moves people to begin to test him during his sermons by allowing their phones ring deliberately? will he walk out every time? Lastly apostle has made a mistake with far reaching effects for younger ministers who can now walk out on God's children at the smallest provocation, and he cannot call any of them to order.
What I know about the time of Jesus is that Jesus addresses what is wrong with a generation especially when he has discerned the motives. The rate of distraction now in church is something else. People chat and do all sort in church and so I believe strongly that Jesus would have addressed the issue with a level of stern that my generation don't like. When I look at some of Jesus's reply to people, I wonder what my generation would have said. He told a rejected a woman's plea and compared her to a dog. My generation would have called a preacher that do that names, though I say this in context. So to me, I cannot adequately judge if Apostle is wrong because of how bad things had gotten.

I am a lecturer and I get how a ringing phone or an unmuted mic on Zoom can totally distract your train of thought. But ending the class because of these would be me mixing emotions with professionalism. I may repeatedly ask for quiet and pause till we have it though. It takes grace and patience to teach, physical or spiritual.
I've learnt overtime, once a person or his views is attacked vehemently by everyone, I tend to listen more to that person, he/she is probably saying the truth.

Solid foundational preaching lecture. Everyone who has been to a sound seminary understands what he is saying. I would however argue as a continuationist that although scriptural revelation (canon of scripture) is closed, which most Charismatic and Pentecostals adhere to, there is still an ongoing work of the Holy spirit through prophecy. This modern prophecy or revelation is not on the same level as scriptural revelation which is closed and it is subject to test since it can be interpreted wrongly (1 Thes. 5:20-21). In short, I don't think the average Pentecostal or Charismatic believes the canon of scripture is not enough. On the contrary, it is sufficient for life and godliness. What the prophets call revelation (because it is revealing) complement but not compete with scripture. It is God providing timely, personal or situational guidance for the church or individuals.

In Jewish culture and Mosaic Law, any woman that is menstruating or blood is flowing from her private part is forbidden from coming close to the Synagogue or touch anyone because anyone they touched is considered impure. because menstruation or a flowing blood has a spiritual significance of impurity and according to Moses Law, its believed to tamper with or affect the flow of anointing and as you read in Luke 8:43-48, when that woman touched Jesus, it affected Jesus's flow of anointing according to Luke 8:45-47 where Jesus exclaimed "45 “Who touched me?” Jesus asked. When they all denied it, Peter said, “Master, the people are crowding and pressing against you.” 46 But Jesus said, “Someone touched me; I know that power has gone out from me.” 47 Then the woman, seeing that she could not go unnoticed, came trembling and fell at his feet. Go in peace.” My question to you is that how did Jesus handle the matter? Did He pass judgment or angrily walk out on the woman because she acted against established doctrine or did Jesus capitalize on it to minister Salvation to her? Please let the scripture be your guide and do not support actions that would make people despair or doubt God or make them feel that God is not kind. The Anointing is not what you train yourself in. Firstly, is the Holyspirit that brings you into that knowledge then it's you that will begin to pay attention to the spirit of God movement in your life and grow in it.
Context is everything! Situations differ! Why the use of words like "my annointing" may not be accurate it we can find the bearings in some of these things in the scripture. Imagine this! Jesus could not perform many miracles in Nazareth because the people of his hometown rejected him and did not believe in him: Jesus was able to perform miracles in some towns but not others because of the people's faith in him: Ask yourself why would Jesus need people's faith for miracles? After all, he is God. Context matters guys let's not be too critical of people and find justification to pull them down.
In Africa we are used to superstition. Because of that, our concept of church services is serving a deity, but according to the scriptures, church service is fellowship one to another, which has to be filled with all sorts of activities among and towards the brethrens. JESUS fasted and prayed for forty days and night.. and when he entered into the temple , the first incident that happened was some making noise to distract, he rebuked him and commanded the demons to come out of him. Luke 4:33-35… JESUS didn’t walk out the Service. we should all learn from our Master. Everyone’s different, I can’t knock him if he gets distracted easily. Also he’s right that people disrespect God way too much nowadays in the house of God. But as a bishop myself who has preached conferences and crusades all over the world, and in Nigeria, something like a phone ring or any noise for that matter, has never distracted me at all. If Phone distracts you or noise distracts you easily, you won’t be able to preach at a Crusade or in certain places where there’s lots of noises and distractions. Just saying.

Pastor Otabil Mensah is not worthy to be a Christian Leader talkless a church pastor. How could a leading church Pastor make such a carnal statement that Revelation ended with the Apostles and God does not give Revelations any longer to anyone. This statement is one of the most shocking things that I have heard from a leading Christian Leader in a while. That statement is as good as saying that God does not heal or perform miracles again because healing, miracle and all supernatural manifestations ended with the Apostles. Jesus in Mark 16:17-18 said "And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover". As long as there is Life in man/woman and they believe and call the name of Jesus, supernatural experiences which divine revelations are part of shall never cease! @@mosesphiri7183 I dont think I have an iota of problem of comprehension both with the semantics(meaning) and Syntax(grammar) used by Pastor Otabil in this teaching about "No More Fresh Revelation", In this teaching he categorically stated that no addition or subtraction of Revelation when it comes to the Christian Faith. He said Revelation ended with the Apostles and the totality of God's Revelation are in the bible. He said anybody or pastor who claims to receive revelation from God is dabbling into occultism. Even a 1 year old should understand the meaning of what Otabil Mensah was trying to pass across. Thank God for the Holy Scriptures that is our standard and guide. One of the main reasons why Jesus sent us the Holy Spirit is for the purpose of Revelation. John the Apostle is a flesh just like you and me. So if he was able to receive novel revelation from God, I dont see any reason why me and you can't also receive fresh and novel revelations from God. I may not be able to say if Apostle 's actions were right or wrong but for some reason this incident has helped me correct my mistake especially concerning allowing distractions when am trying to give my time to God. I now put my phone consciously on silent during worship cos I feel God deserves that conscious effort of respect and reverence..I realized I do put my phone on silent or vibration when am in a meeting at work..like I never forget at all...why not God? So this entire situation helped me to check me ....

Please give yourself more credit. I can see that you are a child of God, and you have the scripture. You can read and say when something is wrong. Think about the number of times Jesus was interrupted during one of his meetings, how many times did he leave the people he came to save? It was wrong to deny the entire congregation the message/prayer God sent you to deliver because someone's phone rang. People will always be at different levels of maturity in church, and honest mistakes can still happen even among the most committed in church. I am happy you have become more deliberate with your phone (I should also be more deliberate), but does it mean that in this life our phones will never ring out one day? should the pastor walk out then?
What will apostle do when the devil moves people to begin to test him during his sermons by allowing their phones ring deliberately? will he walk out every time? What I know about the time of Jesus is that Jesus addresses what is wrong with a generation especially when he has discerned the motives. The rate of distraction now in church is something else. People chat and do all sort in church and so I believe strongly that Jesus would have addressed the issue with a level of stern that my generation don't like. When I look at some of Jesus's reply to people, I wonder what my generation would have said. He told a rejected a woman's plea and compared her to a dog. My generation would have called a preacher that do that names, though I say this in context. So to me, I cannot adequately judge if Apostle is wrong because of how bad things had gotten.

I am a lecturer and I get how a ringing phone or an unmuted mic on Zoom can totally distract your train of thought. But ending the class because of these would be me mixing emotions with professionalism. I may repeatedly ask for quiet and pause till we have it though. It takes grace and patience to teach, physical or spiritual.
I've learnt overtime, once a person or his views is attacked vehemently by everyone, I tend to listen more to that person, he/she is probably saying the truth.

Solid foundational preaching lecture. Everyone who has been to a sound seminary understands what he is saying. I would however argue as a continuationist that although scriptural revelation (canon of scripture) is closed, which most Charismatic and Pentecostals adhere to, there is still an ongoing work of the Holy spirit through prophecy. This modern prophecy or revelation is not on the same level as scriptural revelation which is closed and it is subject to test since it can be interpreted wrongly (1 Thes. 5:20-21).
In short, I don't think the average Pentecostal or Charismatic believes the canon of scripture is not enough. On the contrary, it is sufficient for life and godliness. What the prophets call revelation (because it is revealing) complement but not compete with scripture. It is God providing timely, personal or situational guidance for the church or individuals.
In the Name that IS above every other name, even CHRIST JESUS O Almighty GODHEAD help the church. Lead us not into temptations and deliver us from all that is evil.
I thought it worths listening to that Dr. Mensa teaching over and over. Whatever we say we receive from God must be rooted in the scriptures. If found not so, it should not be consumed as believers.This is how we rightly judge or discern message of truth.

In Jewish culture and Mosaic Law, any woman that is menstruating or blood is flowing from her private part is forbidden from coming close to the Synagogue or touch anyone because anyone they touched is considered impure. because menstruation or a flowing blood has a spiritual significance of impurity and according to Moses Law, its believed to tamper with or affect the flow of anointing and as you read in Luke 8:43-48, when that woman touched Jesus, it affected Jesus's flow of anointing according to Luke 8:45-47 where Jesus exclaimed "45 “Who touched me?” Jesus asked. When they all denied it, Peter said, “Master, the people are crowding and pressing against you.” 46 But Jesus said, “Someone touched me; I know that power has gone out from me.” 47 Then the woman, seeing that she could not go unnoticed, came trembling and fell at his feet. My question to you is that how did Jesus handle the matter? Did He pass judgment or angrily walk out on the woman because she acted against established doctrine or did Jesus capitalize on it to minister Salvation to her? Please let the scripture be your guide and do not support actions that would make people despair or doubt God or make them feel that God is not kind. Context is everything! Situations differ! Why the use of words like "my annointing" may not be accurate it we can find the bearings in some of these things in the scripture. Imagine this! Jesus could not perform many miracles in Nazareth because the people of his hometown rejected him and did not believe in him: Jesus was able to perform miracles in some towns but not others because of the people's faith in him: Ask yourself why would Jesus need people's faith for miracles? Everyone’s different, I can’t knock him if he gets distracted easily. Also he’s right that people disrespect God way too much nowadays in the house of God. But as a bishop myself who has preached conferences and crusades all over the world, and in Nigeria, something like a phone ring or any noise for that matter, has never distracted me at all. If Phone distracts you or noise distracts you easily, you won’t be able to preach at a Crusade or in certain places where there’s lots of noises and distractions. Just saying.

it beat my imagination that Arome does not know what is anointing(Christ Jesus- Holy spirit) if anointing left you when you are not preaching on crusade then you never had it before. Gullibly gods of men-

We are not used to ministers being vulnerable about their personal experiences and walk with God.
God deals with us according to our understanding.

@@andynyame1094You are misinterpreting what happened. Jesus did not do much miracle because the people’s unbelief precluded them from receiving from him. The few who believed in him received. Unlike Arome who REFUSED to carry out his divine duty, Jesus DID NOT REFUSE to do miracles or turned his back on them because of their unbelief.

Please I would like you to do a terror research on Biblical studies a course in the university. There is a portion in the study that talks of the one that closed the bible and made it only 66 books of which we use now his name was Bishop of Athemeus a well known Bishop at that time, As a results other books wich were being brought were stopped. Please try searching information on the acceptance of the bible into 66 books and who established it.

George, thanks for your input. However, it should be stated that phone ringing is not a sin to God who is our Father. A loving Father deserves reverence, not fear. Apostle Arome is a popular preacher cum public figure, and expected to understand how to manage people's behavior within and out of his church. For me, it's not "passion", " holy anger" or "discipline " but condescending. He is human and not infallible...I find his " class monitor " approach distasteful. Ron Kenoly at a big event respectfully stopped people from using their phones to video him while worsship was ongoing. He didn't walked out. Pastor Jerry Eze daily encourages his online members to send links during prayer session. Anyway, may God bless His church.

But on the positive side, Apostle Arome walking out from the pulpit has made many people decide to be conscious to put off their phones during church meetings.

However there's is an undertone of undermining the previous speaker's message that I picked up on that makes me uncomfortable. 2:48 even his body language is dismissive. I believe he wanted to unleash a"deeper" teaching under the guise of prayer points.

Nobody is playing God, rather its a function of relationship with God. The American just like me is a son of God while you and Arome are servants of God. Children can pick their phones before their daddy while servants cannot. That's the difference.

So the screaming is not a distraction right? The truth is, there would be distraction but how it's being handled is what matters because two wrongs cannot make a right. Arome could have handled it better but he didn't and that was wrong on his side, simple.

Pastor Otabil Mensah is not worthy to be a Christian Leader talkless a church pastor. How could a leading church Pastor make such a carnal statement that Revelation ended with the Apostles and God does not give Revelations any longer to anyone. This statement is one of the most shocking things that I have heard from a leading Christian Leader in a while. That statement is as good as saying that God does not heal or perform miracles again because healing, miracle and all supernatural manifestations ended with the Apostles. Jesus in Mark 16:17-18 said "And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover".
As long as there is Life in man/woman and they believe and call the name of Jesus, supernatural experiences which divine revelations are part of shall never cease! Anyways, thanks be to God for revealing the likes of Otabil Mensah, He is a carnal man pretending to be a spirit driven man.

@@mosesphiri7183 I dont think I have an iota of problem of comprehension both with the semantics(meaning) and Syntax(grammar) used by Pastor Otabil in this teaching about "No More Fresh Revelation", In this teaching he categorically stated that no addition or subtraction of Revelation when it comes to the Christian Faith. He said Revelation ended with the Apostles and the totality of God's Revelation are in the bible. He said anybody or pastor who claims to receive revelation from God is dabbling into occultism. Even a 1 year old should understand the meaning of what Otabil Mensah was trying to pass across. Thank God for the Holy Scriptures that is our standard and guide. One of the main reasons why Jesus sent us the Holy Spirit is for the purpose of Revelation. John the Apostle is a flesh just like you and me. So if he was able to receive novel revelation from God, I dont see any reason why me and you can't also receive fresh and novel revelations from God. Do you know the billions of galaxies there are and mankind has only been able to discover and explore just ours? The bible does not even contain 0.000000001% of God's mysteries. There are still billions of mysteries and dimensions about God that is still unknown to mankind and God is still in the business of making known these mysteries so long as the earth remains and so long as there are people who believe in Him
Pls some ministers of God prepare their teachings before they take the pulpit to Preach whilst others teach directly from the inspiration of the Holy spirit if distraction sets in the second will be more affected by the distraction and might cause the message to stop or slow whilst the first can easily continue upon all distractions
In my opinion, the Holy Spirit Reminds you the meditations of your heart to teach. From how filled you are with the word that abundance flows from your mouth which makes scriptural and spiritual sense to you even while you speak. You can talk about other manifestations like word of knowledge in that context etc….
I don't understand why (Dr. Mensa Otabil) said what he said about Jehovah's Witness on the topic of revelation... That's not facts.
Charles Taze Russel claims he had an interpretation of scripture which is different from what the early Church fathers believed; that is Jesus is Angel Michael. Judge Rutherford continued in this revelation and the results is the Watch Tower (JW).
