If you can't follow what he's talking about, then you shouldn't be testing control panels.

Great video. If doing point to point I open fuse holders to isolate circuits.

Nice video but at 1:26 it also helps if your test leads are in the voltage/resistance port when measuring point to point resistances!

After over 20 years of professional troubleshooting, I would like to point to your attention the simple fact, that "Drawings" are not commonly found any where in today's factory. Yes, as strange and unlikely it sounds, drawing are scarce and far in between these days. In addition when we find drawings (rare occurrence) they are more often than not inaccurate and sometimes obsolete.
However I do agree with you that drawings should be our most important reference.

thank you for mentioning that, that happens on almost 78% of our machines and I trying not to exaggerate.

Idk what junk plants yall worked in but i never struggled to find a print. Just goes to show how shit the tech team mustve been in those plants. if we dont have physical, there is a digital print in a shared drive. If you cant find either, get the machine back up and call the maker for a digital. Not hard

Hi I'm just starting out at Panel building. I'd like to get the proper size hole cutter for the Allen Bradly 30mm buttons. However, Every kit I find only has 1 1/8" (Slightly too small) or 1 3/8" abit to big. What do you recomend? We have a knockout, but I'd like to just use a hole cutter to get it all in one step.

Please use bullet points on the screen as you go over each point so the visual learners can read the training. Hearing something and reading something gives different results for each person. 75% of people are visual learners. All of your audible training means nothing unless you add visual representations of what you just said. When speaking about something you can say: How does the car sound to you? or How does the car look to you? The visual questions will not work well with someone who is an audible learner. Maybe you can look over the basics of Neuro Linguistic Programming to understand how to improve from here. Thank you for the video but it bores a visual learner to death in about two minutes or less. If you add written points as you make them verbally it will help the training of most people.

It took me quite awhile to track down a electrical schematic drawing of an older milling machine, it saved hours of backtracking the wiring to get all the electromagnetic clutches and switches to function properly as many wires were installed wrong from a previous repair attempt. Saved a bundle with the drawings. I vouch for the importance.

What drawing? Machines are like 50 years old and so many new parts have been added over the decades without updating diagram.

    • @coldsoup8958
      @coldsoup8958 3 роки тому +3

      Exactly.
"We need you to retrofit this ancient system with a new PLC."
"Ok, no problem. Where are the drawings?"
"We don't have valid, updated drawings."
"Ok, well can you at least give me an equipment list?"
"No, but here's a PLC program. You should be able to reverse-engineer and find out what's out there."
"This PLC program doesn't have any descriptions, rung comments, etc."
"We need this done in two weeks."

That is where the knowledge comes in. Before removing wires and changing parts you have to design diagrams. I do it all the time.
