  • Camp Kipwe to Spitzkoppen Lodge
In the morning of our fifth day in Namibia, we hit the road from Camp Kipwe to Spitzkoppen Lodge, and it was absolutely breathtaking.
The landscape could amaze any traveller - rugged and awe-inspiring. We drove through winding roads, passing by towering rock formations and expansive desert vistas. It felt like we were on a journey through a hidden treasure of natural wonders.
Unfortunately, we had to get lost, as the navigator led us onto a road that smoothly turned into the bed of a dry seasonal river. After driving several kilometers along the riverbed, we realized that it would not lead us anywhere, and we returned back.
The lunch stop was in the town of Daures, where the local gems dealers were in abundance staying opposite of the main gas station next to the main road. Not a good idea though to purchase the raw minerals in Namibia. All kind of trouble can await for those hunting for easy treasure.
Further down the gravel road, some 40 kilometres from our day destination we had experienced a first flat tyre… As one of the friends suggested later form its look, it seemed that the car was attacked by lion, who torn the rubber to pieces.
Once we arrived at Spitzkoppen Lodge, the excitement continued to build. I need to notice that the lodge is spread quite wide apart, and the reception offered us a buggy ride to our remote shack. I wanted to reject this kind offer as we like to explore the area on feet, but, finally, good that I had not. Carrying the luggage a few hundred meters away would not be much of fun.
After dropping our staff in the shack, we embarked on an evening game drive, an experience that truly brought us closer to the extraordinary wildlife of Namibia. As we explored the wild terrain, we were lucky enough to spot a group of majestic kudus grazing peacefully. Their imposing presence and graceful movements left us in awe.
The first stop was at Small Bushmen Paradise, where we studied another example of rock art - the drawings made by bushmen with use of the natural colorants such as ochrе.
Then there was a stop at a natural arch, which, in modern slang, is a very Instagrammable place!
After the arch we looked into the Zebra Pool, and the cave of the golden snake.
The day ended on a huge boulder, where we spent the sun falling into the desert with a bottle of local beer, and then had dinner in a restaurant overlooking the granite piles.
