      Well not really this is what happens when you are in a abusive relationship, you fear you will be homeless and lose everything because the other party convinced you there is no life outside of their home.
      This is normal abuse victim behavior though I agree she should of protected her more I can speak from experience as someone who lived in a abusive home with a mother who acts like this why she didn't. She was scared to leave and scared she would get hurt more if she did, they do become prisoners within their own minds from relationships like this

    This dad is honestly a terrible horrible person who should die in hell . You can't even blame it on alcohol, he was still violent after he stopped drinking. Terrible father, disgusting beyond belief, especially to such a young girl.

    • @surialpaca6542

      DarkAura Productions Its not just the father. Several things could've precented Judith's death. Starting with her stupid mother, the irresponsible psychologist, and the CPS, whom (at the end of the day) should have been the last standing defense to protect Judith.

    • @Goleon
      @Goleon 7 років тому +9

      Precious Felton Her psyc did do something. She gave her findings on the abuse Judith got to child services who were going to make a case on it but her mom stopped it cause she thought she was in control enough to finally leave him which she underestimated as his emotional abuse effected her so much, she'd thought she'd have nothing upon leaving him (the ol "You leave me, you'll have no money for anything. No food, no clothes, no roof to live under! You'll be nothing without me! Nothing!") thus why she forgot of the apartment she had and the fact that her daughter's career would sustain her enough to live on. Yes it's not right she didn't do anything but if you put herself in her shoes, get in the mindset her husband put into her (the guy found a way to prevent her from going to a friend's funeral, that's how desperate he was at keeping her from leaving him), you'd see how hard a simple move out would be. She's as much a victim as Judith is.

    • @cielopachirisu929
      @cielopachirisu929 7 років тому +8

      Go a bit easy on her mom, we don't know the whole story. This is how abuse stories work out. Any survivor of it can tell you that there's always a good answer to "Why can't you just leave him?"

    • @surialpaca6542
      @surialpaca6542 7 років тому +2

      Goleon I understand what you're saying, and don't get me wrong, I do give her some slack to a certain extent. But at the end of the day, partial of the blame still falls back on her, even as it falls back on the incompetence of CPS, and the child psychologist. Yes, we don't know the full story, so we can only go by whatever evidence that we see. Right now, evidence is showing she put materials before her daughter. Truth be told, its probably a hell of a lot deeper than that, and I know the whole "abused woman too afraid to leave her hubhy" cliche. i also see (based upon the evidence) that she had two major chances in which she could have left Judith's father, but she didnt take either of them. and regardless of what her reasoning is for not taking either chance, her choice resulted in the deaths of herself and of her daughter. she paid the ultimate price for (i will say this for a lack of a better word; dont go ham on me) her incompetence.

    • @QueenNectariine
      @QueenNectariine 7 років тому +14

      Goleon I'm glad someone else understands how abusive situations work out. I spent my childhood in a very abusive one just as Judith did, and it took a lot for my mother to actually be able to go through with leaving; bless her heart she's an amazingly strong woman. Before she filed divorce papers, she put me and siblings at a friend's house for a sleepover and went with her brother and a friend to serve them to my father. After that, I distinctly remember my mother taking us all to another friend's house a few blocks away where we hid for a few days, and she would park the car another block down so he couldn't find us, because we feared for our lives. It's really not always that easy to just up and leave. This is over 10 years ago and we all *STILL* suffer repercussions from it (even financially). Abuse is no joke, and neither is the severe damage it can do to the psyche. You can't just easily "get over/push past" the all kinds of fucked up your mind becomes. The very, very vast majority of your average person cannot do that as it is an extremely difficult thing to see past clearly.

  • @freedomcat

      Self defense is when the abused child kills them in self defense, not when someone has to be a heroic murderer.
      Also, murdering abusive parents is just gonna make you look like a murder, a cold-blooded murderer. It is best to leave abusive parents and people in the authorities hands, they know what to do with them.

    • @zellybrat1462
      @zellybrat1462 7 років тому +52

      lorderik237 back during the 70s and 80s there had to be physical evidence of domestic violence and even then cops sometimes wouldn't get involved as it was seen as a matter between a husband and wife and not something that they should be getting involved in. That's why most women who had children ran away with them and changed their names to get away from their abusive husbands. Hell its still going on today because our justice system is shit and can only do so much after a divorce.

    • @ShadowGirl166
      @ShadowGirl166 7 років тому +48

      TheBloodymAlice our systems are just all fucked up. People dont get the help they need because everything has to be a lengthy legal process. Even in schools if a teacher sees a kid being bullied they must be very careful with how they approach because they can get fired for being involved. Happened back at my old middle school. A boy was harassing and beating up on a handicapped boy in the hall and one of our old teachers saw and grabbed the kid by the arm and pulled him away from the handicapped boy and told him to basicly knock that shit off and never do it again. He was immediately fired for "harassment" and the kid got off scot free.
      With Judith's case more definitely could have been done, but Ive also seen so many times where people tried to help and couldnt.

    • @zatskya

    • @ShadowGirl166

      Triple H Oh no I agree that we need them. I guess what I mean is that it bothers me when the legal process... gets in the way? Im not 100% sure how to put it. Sometimes a situation is stalled too long for legal processes and it either makes the situation worse or doesnt get to the issue in time and disaster happens. You cant save everyone and I get that but I see a lot of these legal processes that need to be upgraded or changed completely. But its hard to have a perfect system, sometimes things just dont turn out right.

    I usually don't comment. But this just breaks my heart. I never knew this. The Land Before Time was my favorite movie as a child. It brought me comfort after my mom died. How can anyone do such a horrible thing. I would agree with some of the comments on here, the mother should have left him and go into safety. This is coming from experience. I went through abuse as a child, so I have been there. I understand that people are afraid, and confused on what to do. But adults have the responsibility and choice to move away from a dangerous situation that harms themselves and their children. I understand there might not be many options, but there are help out there. As a child, you depend on your parents/care givers. When I was being abused, I didn't have a choice, I didn't understand that this wasn't normal. I'm glad I got out of there and now I have an amazing life. But This breaks my heart so deeply.

      Bronagh MacHaulaige Ikr? Judith's death really pisses me off. So many things could have prevented her demise. First, her idiot mother putting materials before her daughter, and that very action got her and her daughter killed. Second , the stupid psychologist KNEW something was awfully wrong with Judith and she should've kept pushing until Judith was safe, not just pawn her off to someone else. Third, CPS failed to protect this child. They should've known Judith was in danger due to the evidence provided to them by the psychologist, and thus removed her from the house. But nooo. They had to leave her with her hellspawn father. There's a special place in hell waiting for them.

      Thoralmir Are you talking to me or the original commenter? And in my opinion, just because you were effected by a certain upbringing doesn't mean its okay to kill an innocent child or anyone for that matter. Because of a mentally ill man, *and* because nobody wanted to use their god-given common sense, a beautiful, brilliant child full of magnificent talent with a bright future had to die. Judith was worth more than both of her parents combined before the time she was 10 years old. Her death was a waste to society, she could've put in so much to the film world. But most of all she was so young and innocent. No child deserves such a fate and I spit on a parent who will murder their own children.

      unless you are in or have been in that situation you don't know what you would do. it isn't that easy to just leave a situation like this. either way she would've ended up dead. you don't actually know why she didn't leave. its simple to say she cared more about her things more than her family. she may have never said that and doubt she did.

    holy shit, is materialistic values more important than the safety and well being of your own child? that stuff can be gain back by later, its such a stupid move knowing the dangerous threats and physical violence hes made on both of them and now that little girl life is gone forever, I really cant understand that mother type of thinking.

    • @shannaclankie184
      @shannaclankie184 7 років тому +9

      Nazzy Ivory This is super common in domestic violent cases. He said it was for material gain and what not, but when a victim is abuses over and over again they start having a learned helplessness disorder - where they fell powerless to fight back or leave. That's why you hear about these cases where a father beats his children and wife, but the mom never seeks help. She loves the kids but she is mentally abused to the point to fear help. The dad than escalates and eventually kills the kid/ or mom. Work DCFs for a little bit and this story is fairly normal.

    • @nazzyivory9234
      @nazzyivory9234 7 років тому +2

      Shanna Clankie it's stated on the here and on wiki that she was planning to leave and found a place for for her and her kid, she was making an attempt but she stayed that day because of those things, she should of left. CPS was called and she refused their help, stating she could handle it. If she had the apartment secured, there is no reason she should of stay a minute longer. Her kid was the bread winner of that family, both of them were depedant on her than they were of themselves.

    • @ladonnad.steele2470
      @ladonnad.steele2470 7 років тому +6

      Nazzy Ivory there are a lot of moms like that out there, they won't leave because they had a bad childhood too and think it's normal. Man there are women that do this to their kids without the dad's in the picture.

    • @nazzyivory9234
      @nazzyivory9234 7 років тому +8

      *LDS* S. Except as I said, both parents were extremely depedent on their child for financial reasons which is even horrible that she had to support own her parents. Her mother groomed her to be the bread winner. Even her own family urged her to move away quicky which she did not do because she was afraid of losing the home and the belongings in it which is what I stated originally in my first comment. Are you gonna ruin your own child childhood and safety just because you had a bad one too? The girl was physically abused, she pulled her own eye lashes out of extreme stress, why did it take her breaking down at the set to get help and then her own mother refusing it? If you're child is crying and showing signs that something is wrong, it means you need to do something but instead she decided to not to for a bunch of materialistic things that cost both their lives.

    I think both of the parents had a part in her sad untimely demise, I know a lot of people are angry at the father, I understand, but I want to bring the light to her mother.
    Her mother had experienced the early signs of abuse and outbursts from her husband and chose to stay and drop a restraining order, further endangering herself and her daughter, she had a safe place for her and her daughter and was filing for divorce but then didn't cause she was afraid of losing her items!
    what kind of mother cares more for her stuff then her own child? This whole thing could have been avoided if she, successfully, filed for divorce, had a restraining order, and move away.

      Leaving is the MOST dangerous time for a mother, well that and late pregnancy. It isn't easy to get away, she may have just claimed materialistic value because she was scared. You tend to do dumb shit when you're afraid. Yes she should have left, but honestly I'm pretty sure she would have died anyway. CPS let her stay home knowing the family history of abuse. Speaking from experience, they likely would have been separated from family long before they even thought of leaving, so staying with family may not have been an option. Likely no money on her own, and the daughter would have had to quit. The little girl wouldn't be safe at her job, they'd have to go into hiding and even that doesn't always work.

      She still put her value of material things over the safety of her daughter. People were getting ready to put a stop to it, but the mother insisted that they drop the charges. There were plenty of situations where she could have escaped for Judith's sake, and didn't. This was a situation where people weren't just looking at the signs she had of abuse and do nothing about it. Her agent and psychologist were willing to try! It was her mother that completely and utterly dropped the ball. It was the dumbest thing any mother could have done, when given multiple ways out and not taking any of them, and for what? Material belongings. I bet, knowing what she knows now, she would have run away with her child when she had the chance. Now, it's too late. This isn't a matter of "Oh, there was nothing more the mother could have done!" Literally, Judith did more to help her situation by telling her friends what was going on than her mother. Her mother could have done more and was given the opportunity to do more. Judith may have died by the hands of her father, and though her mother meant well, Mrs. Barsi gave her husband may opportunities to commit murder.
      It's sad, but Judith is really the only true innocent in all of this. She was raised by two incredibly selfish parents. Yes, you can be a good person and still be selfish. Mrs. Barsi made mistake after mistake, and Judith had to pay for it as much as she did. May they rest in peace.

    Its easy for us to say the mother should've done this and should've done that but until you've been in a domestic violent relationship you just can't understand. These people abuse so bad you're fearful to get help. They make you think that you have no one and nothing but them and that you need them. I felt law enforcement and dcfs should've done more though.

    I'm just saying, and this is just my opinion. Murder is murder whether it be done to an adult OR a child. I don't see how kids are put on such a pedestal other than "Oh, she was cute".
    Of course, I'm not saying this to offend those who are basically saying it in the comments, I'm just expressing my opinion.

    • @HeatherCoste
      @HeatherCoste 7 років тому +49

      Potato Shock I think it's more heinous against a child because they are helpless and they haven't done anything in their small lives to have instigated it. As adults we constantly piss people off lol. As kids there's nothing she could have possibly ever done to deserve it. Just my opinion :). Have a great evening.

    • @ninja6000400
      @ninja6000400 7 років тому +1

      The thing is, I believe I a life were to be weighed in the first place, that an adult's would be heavier. Although a child represent the potential of what some could be, and adult is actually who someone is currently. Many time its someone with a family, people they live, and a contribution to society. I believe the death of an adult is more tragic than a child in most cases, that is, if their lives were to be weighed in the first place that is.

    • @shawn576
      @shawn576 7 років тому +31

      Children and animals are bigger victims of these things because they have no way to defend themselves. When an adult is killed, a lot of it is written off as that person's fault because they did or didn't do something. When people see a story about a kid or a dog being abused, that is when people demand extremely harsh punishment. Caring for creatures that can't take care of themselves is a very deeply rooted evolutionary trait. When a human does not show that trait, they are more than just a threat to individual humans. They are a threat to our species as a whole, so there is strong desire to immediately and permanently remove them from the gene pool.

    it's amazing what child services can take your kids away for now a days like not keeping your home clean enough or if they get bad grades at school but just as far back as the mid 90s they would look the other way even with proof that a child is in severe danger . I wonder how much of the mom staying was battered wife syndrome and how much was truly greed like rob said. if rob is right and she just didn't want to leave her stuff behind even though her daughter was a fucking movie star and she could have replaced anything a hundred fold then she deserved what she got unlike her daughter. such a sad story thank God I was too young to know what happened at the time.

      Ari Vail sorry you went through that. where I live cps are huemungus gapping assholes who will take your kids away for the reasons I listed above but will either let much worse parents keep their kids with just a slap on the wrist or send them to live with truly abusive people who just want the money and tax write offs. anyways I hope your life has improved since you went through that.

    Oh, my god, this is heartbreaking!!! Those characters meant a lot to me as a kid (like you mentioned) BECAUSE of her voice. It was so authentic and touching. I had no idea she did both. What an amazing talent. I remember her commercials now too. Surprisingly I have never heard this story. Thank you for sharing this, it's important for people to remember her. God, what a tragedy. :( There's just no where to go with these feelings. So much rage at that garbage monster father, so much hurt. I'm a father of 4, I have a new little girl. One of my sons just got big into Land Before Time and loves Ducky so much. I can't even comprehend right now.
