Bach - Toccatta and Fugure in D minor (1:16 mark)

Jesse lol at this point your 😂 just better off reacting to every song from ff14 cause we will keep them coming
You can find almost all musical styles in FFXIV. But since you mention classic, this genre is also present in this game, a track called "Dancing Mad", originally writen by Nobuo Uematsu for FFVI and rearranged in FFXIV. Mind blowing!
FFXIV version: ua-cam.com/video/KFRhYuB93qk/v-deo.html
Original version: ua-cam.com/video/JbXVNKtmWnc/v-deo.html (sound in MIDI format)
@@imafirenmehlazer1 Not anymore it doesn't, was beaten by RuneScape that has more than double the amount of tracks ;)
I love your recs thank you so much!!
@@seboulol Dancing Mad is prog afffffff
It’s truly disgusting how fucking good this track is.
Filth
Lore: Kid melts himself inside a Mech to summon a simulacrum of a legendary general, the Black Wolf, his father. He is also fighting against his father so uhhh it's an awkward family reunion.
"Its over father, I am the dad now."
One of my friends said during the transition. I couldn't focus thru laughing tears as I caused a wipe. It was on extreme.
Dad of dad is grandpa, they said…
Yeah, the series is called "The Sorrow of Werlyt," not "The Pleasant Family Reunion of Werlyt"
Adoptive father, but still. Werlyt was not a happy story.
@@FrozenSolid90 Well, it's a hommage to Gundam, and Tomino, Gundam's creator, has a nickname among the community. That's "Kill them all" Tomino for you. Personally, when I saw they were going hard on Gundam, I couldn't imagine most of the characters introduced by that chain quest to survive until the end of it.
"He can stalk me whenever he wants." You know, I've heard that same phrase said a lot in reference to that character.
" Is that a build up coming?", " I gotta turn this up"
Me who's done this fight dozens of times: I see you are one of refined culture XD
Love the reaction as always man ^^
Learning the harder versions for these fights makes it so much fun and doable when you have such good music in the background lol
I loved learning tertius terminus est lol
I really dig how this track catches the military vibe with the guitar, and the kinda eerie/ghostly sci-fi feel from the synth. It does a lot to fit the fight really well.
Playing this raid day one, this music blew me away and I couldn’t pay attention to the mechanics.
So many good parts to this epic masterpiece. The arpeggios, that sick acid synth line in response to the guitar riffs, the synths… fffffffff
big fffffffffffffffffffffffff
Oh man, this is one of the tracks I was 100% hoping you'd react to. If you liked this, I reckon that you'd also enjoy 'Blood on the Wind' (Bozjan Southern Front Battle Theme).
This will be awesome for Jesse to react to
So pumped to watch this later! I knew as soon as I stumbled on this channel and got a feel for your tastes that this track's guitar would speak to you.
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
im happy the community is getting some people who know what theyre talking about reacting to the games music. people who have an ear that can pick out each instrument and the subtle notes. someone who knows music, and how its made and can appreciate it. i came for your FF reactions and spot on each time. great dude. great channel
I do love how we both put out the same song reaction on the same day lmao good shit.
🤝
this was refreshing to see. I raid a LOT but sometimes I'm so into the mechanics I sometimes forget that the music is the perfect backdrop for all these encounters. new appreciation (on top of the appreciation i already had) for the track. thanks for the react vid Jesse!
"I haven't even looked at the visuals even once. Just been listening to the song. I have no idea what's going on."
That about sums up what happens to me when I get to new boss music lol
Hell yes, dude. Great request by the community. I just love all the different layers to this song. Gets me hyped every time I hear it. I am glad you enjoyed it too!
I'd just like to say that I cannot unhear the Bach in this song now that you mentioned it. I took music way back when I was in high school and I had to learn Toccata and Fugue as my performance piece, but it had been so long, (twenty years,) that when I heard this absolute banger, I wasn't able to put two and two together on my own. So I'd just like to say thank you for the illumination, Jesse, now I know why this song resonates with me so much.
Comments like these is why I started doing the reactions! Always had a passion for showing people underlying messages and tones/samples in songs to hear them differently.
One of my favorite parts is that the synth part is a reference to the beginning of J-E-N-O-V-A from FF7 just like the weapons. It's so sick
This is one of my favorite XIV tracks, if you like this I would highly recommend giving Wrath of the Harrier (The Diablo Armaments Theme) and Metal: Brute Justice Mode both the regular and The Primals version
Heck yeah Wrath of the Harrier is so good too. Good choice.
I stand behind this request!
Keeping with the theme of xiv music. Either "Who Brings Shadow" or "Landslide" Eden 4's music.
He basically heard "Who Brings Shadow" when he listened to the Shadowbringers theme as it contains that song in the latter half.
I think he should just listen to them all because they’re all good xD
One of my absolutely favorites
I got this and immediately put it on in my free company's house and then proceeded to listen to it on loop for two hours while I did a round of crafts. Never even got close to tired of it.
the most incredible thing about ffxiv's music is all of it comes from the brains of just two dudes. The wild variety you get between all the tracks and it's all either Uematsu or Soken who wrote it.
They have a whole team supporting them and arranging songs for them, though. Those two might get the glory but they're not doing it alone.
First time I heard this track I walked into player housing and it began playing. I thought my UA-cam had turned on and autoplayed or something? I was so surprised it was in the game, and it was awesome!
Honestly, felt like coming back here just to say this may be my favorite song in the game. At least in this expansion.
It's pretty damn good!
Has anyone recommended Wrath of the Harrier to you yet? I'd be shocked if not.
I think the most amazing part of FFXIV music is that you know these artists are having a blast creating something new all the time. They seem free to express themselves with just awesome music combinations. If I was a pro-artist I would love, even beg to join them when making music just for the sheer enjoyment!
This song is awesome! It's the one I have playing in my house in game. I don't know if Jesse has reacted to "On Blade's Edge" from Endwalker (Mid Boss Theme) but if he liked this, he would like that one too I'd wager
"On Blade's Edge" and "With hearts aligned" and "Garlemald Express" and "Vanaspati theme", blades edge and hearts aligned best boss music
Oddly enough you posted this today and we started our Emerald Weapon Extreme farm lol. Love your reactions.
MEANT TO BE
One of my favorite parts is the jabber 'theblackwolf' in the back, leading to 'such...deva..station'
can you hear the "ohm nom nom" in the song once you hear it you can never unhear it
Ooh ooh how did I miss this one, damn you youtube :v !! I was curious about your thoughts on this one, one of my faves in FFXIV
As a player it was a very hype encounter, because of the lore, boss/encounter design and not least of all the song! So good :]
Glad to see you catjamming to it xD keep 'em coming
Fav song from the "Weapon Fights" the song hardly helps interms of keeping your composure while doing the mechanics and keeping up w your combos tho! 🤣
Oh boy this one is so incredibly good.
To put in some context, "The black Wolf" was the main villain from the first FFXIV and up to the first arc of FFXIV A Realm Reborn, kind of the Darth Vader of FF. He's been through a redemption arc and lots of changes through the story and this battle is like an homage to everything he was. There's leitmotifs of the evil empire all over the track but they are so elegantly hidden in the composition it's hard to even awknowledge this is even related to the empire. You're not even fighting *him* exactly, but like a twisted memory of his fascist self from the past. Even he is kind of disgusted by the vision. So this theme carries a lot of weight and awesomeness from an awesome and complex character
Buuuut you don't even need the context. The song is so good on it's own I listen to it all the time while working or studying. It's cool that's not as clasically epic or that it doesn't have lyrics so it's not like a heavy song to listen to, you can really bang your head while listening and not be 100% invested in the emotions like in Dragonsong or Revenge of the Horde.
Keep up the good work!
Been enjoying your reactions to game music, especially the FFXIV ones!
If I may make an suggestion of my own (and if you're interested in retro games too) I can recommend the songs "Light and Darkness" or "Return to Mother Earth" from Terranigma.
That soundtrack is arguably one of the (if not THE) best OST on the SNES when it comes to the sound and composition. Terranigma is my favorite game on that console and I am totally not biased, I promise. *cough*
When I went into this fight blind back when it launched I was not playing all that great during this phase(phase 2 of the fight) because I was too busy rocking out to the music, this is definitely one of my favorites from FF14(saying a lot because just about every one is amazing and if not, then at least good)
If there's a song to motivate you, this is one of many from FFXIV
If we talk motivational songs in FF general it gotta be "You're not alone" from FF9
I put off doing the weapon trials for the longest time, and when I finally got around to doing Emerald Weapon, I kept dying because I was too busy jamming to this. Forget Emerald Weapon, Soken is too powerful, he has to be stopped.
I still haven't did them yet but I should get to it, the music is good!
Besides jamming out i was also geeking out during it because the Emerald Weapon is a straight up reference to the NZ-666 Kshatriya from Gundam Unicorn.
This, To The Edge and The Diablo Armament are my favorite 3 songs from this expansion of XIV. If you love the first two, something tells me you'd love the last one as well.
Another sick banger if You want is Ultima weapon theme. It's even covered by band in which some of the game devs play named The Primals :) love your reactions, and have fun with the music!
Basically just listen to the whole of FF14's Soundtrack and youll always have a good time
Great reaction as always man! Adding "sexual chocolate" to my list of favourite descriptions of this haha.
As ever jumping in with another recommendation, this time another FFXIV, "Weight of the world (prelude version)" :)
Huge amount of requests for WOTW, once I clear my Patreon list (hopefully before November) I'll get to it first unless ofc a Patreon submits it lol. Otherwise I'd be behind about 500+ requests ^_^
@@JessesAuditorium Yet to see a reaction of yours i've not enjoyed so happy to wait and see until then!
Now you have to react to Big Fat Tacos (Ultima the name of the music) is the first part of the fight of all weapons
YES GOOD!! So glad you enjoyed it so much it rendered you speechless. Best outcome
Toccatta and Fugue in D minor is one of my favorite classical pieces, mainly because pipe organ is hype. But Jesse, I highly recommend listening to all the movements of Kefka's theme "Dancing Mad" and you'll know why this is one of my top 5 favorite FF pieces period. Also because Soken did his arrangement of it :)
This has been the music for my in-game apartment ever since I acquired the orchestration roll.
The arpeggio bits really got to me because it super reminds me of Deja Vu - Ataraxia!
Which is the piece of music that the McElroys used for the first season of The Adventure Zone: Balance which is all sorts of good feelings haha
So many layers >_>_>
1 fat and 1 opinion:
Fact: This piece was a collaboration between Nobuo Uematsu and Masayoshi Soken. Basically the original music guy for every game in the franchise up until now, and the guy he basically passed the baton to. As a lifelong fan of this series, this is pretty much Batman teaming up with Superman.
Opinion (honestly just another fact as well): I can say, as someone who has done Emerald several times (in 10-15 minute stints per go) that this song NEVER gets old.
Edit: The theme was apparently done by Takafuni Imamura. Soken more likely oversaw the production, and Uematsu was credited because it was based off of an older track he had produced. My bad.
This, and Return to Oblivion (E8S) are probably my two favourite tracks in the entire game.
Slight correction : while Soken for sure was overseeing things in the background, this song is actually credited to one Takafumi Imamura, as per the Death Unto Dawn OST cd released last month.
Yeah, the track was done by Takafumi Imamura. Uematsu gets composer credit because the theme is based on "Imperial Will" which was done by him.
What I love about this is that not only are Uematsu and Soken amazing in their own right, they're still humble enough to spot and nurture new talent.
The muted descending arpeggio gets me every single time, without fail. With as much good music as there is in Shadowbringers, this is a dark horse pick for best song of the expansion. To The Edge probably still wins out, but Neath Dark Waters (and all its variants), Who Brings Shadow, and Return To Oblivion are also all in the conversation.
Also, good headphones pick (those look to be K240s)!
I really like your Videos, it's always good to see someone enjoy the FFXIV ost that much.
Another little suggestion from me is " FFXIV OST The Diablo Armament Theme ".
endwalker coming out next month, i am excited for the music alone! this track is just fire.
It may not be as guitar heavy, but it's an absolute banger and one of the best songs in ffxiv, namely: Return To Oblivion. It's just amazing
Just reacted and filmed that one tonight! Coming later this week
Both Oblivions are awesome
@@JessesAuditorium Pogchamp
@@Blutwind They are. Oblivion is the point where presumably a lot of people (me included) knew that this game is awesome. The transition to phase 2 where everything goes quiet followed by that amazing drop is just art
When I first heard this while doing the fight, I wasn't really able to focus on the music too much because I was really concentrating on the fight (it's pretty tough), so the music kinda just felt like "background noise" to me and I thought I didn't like it. Only thing that stuck out was that "du-du-du" part.
Now that I've had a chance to actually listen to it properly, I've pretty much had the same reaction as you. Absolute banger.
when you go through "To the Edge" and you say ok, this is top notch. Then you go into emerald fight and you drop off the chair only because of the BSO.
"he can stalk me whenever he wants" me whenever i see gaius
love these videos man
I wonder if you would do us all a favor and make a spotify playlist of all the songs you react to. It’d be my new favorite playlist
Hmm? I never thought of that. If the songs are available on Spotify. I suppose I can do that
@@JessesAuditorium that would be awesome, like you I listen to everything, and especially video game music since it is so broad and there’s always an interesting mix of genres
This, right here, is still my favourite track from the entire game. I had a really hard time clearing this fight cause I was too busy headbanging the entire time lmao.
Between this one, To The Edge, and the Endwalker miniboss theme I'm torn
you've gotta react to "Fiend" from ffxiv man it will be right up your alley
Tonight!
@@JessesAuditorium hell yeah!
This is gonna be awesome
I was getting almost anthrax, and maybe a little Pantera with the riffs in this one and the arpeggios.
Since you mentioned a classical piece though, there's quite a few pieces in ff14 that have a Toccatta feel. Or Carmina burana o' fortuna :)
Santana vibes at the beginning
now we need eScape from FF14 :3
chicken tenders!
Love this track. Can't wait
Lol I'm looking forward to this reminder set!
Soken is truly prolific. Maybe you could get some recommendations of 2 songs that play in the same area, like "A New Hope" and "Sultana Dreaming." The first one plays in the city of Ul'dah during the day, while the second plays in the same city at night. Other 2-fers: "Landlords/Skylords" or "Painted Foothills/Painted Skies"
i would absolutely love to see you react to sephirots theme "Fiend" i feel like it's something you would really enjoy
That's premiering tonight in 2 hours!!
I'd love to se you watch some of the official music videos from the primals! Namely "Scions and Sinners: A Long Fall" and "Ultima"! Also awesome that you and Hurtbox uploaded on the same day, you guys have been so much fun to follow
Hurtbox is the homie lol. I do have some Patreon requests for the Primals soon! I'm excited.
He also already did A Long Fall (The Twinning)
@@Scottistic I've seen it, this is the official version by their band though! The music video is so much fun :D
@@prawn1717 indeed but he doesn’t really watch the videos more the music.
Said so himself in the sephirot video
@@Scottistic Maybe he'll make an exception for a music video? Especially since he's already listened to the song, though the studio version isn't exactly the same.
I asked myself: "Was this recorded when it was up to date?" Then i saw the astro stars.. XD
I hope you listen to eScape, one of my favorite boss themes from ff14. Also another song I hope you check out is Those Who Fight Further from the FF7 remake. That boss music is so insanely good.
Oh wow I've only done this fight twice and I totally forgot how amazing the song was
Sad you couldn't get the CD cut of it (albeit, not surprised considering it's really recent and most videos suffice the same) cuz the ending gets more than just a fadeout, and that little tiny bit they add is a cherry on top.
Wait, I thought it was part of Shadowbringers CD they just released! Oh no.
this music has such a Shoji meguro in classic megaten energy.
The Extreme version of this fight was tough. Farmed it at least 50 times or so, but the music makes it bearable every time
Y E S
WHY IS THIS NOT ON SPOTIFY
Listening to this over 100x to get your in-game riding mount really does something to you. And its hard not to listen to it because of the attack timings.
very castlevania meets prog, ffxiv music bops.
Fiend from FFXIV next!!! You'll love it ❤️❤️❤️
Uploaded tonight!
Keeping in theme of xiv music and coloured animals: give rise of the white raven a try
Falling away from me is my fave Korn song.
3:01 this part reminds me of mission impossible music
I hope you react to other Final Fantasy tracks. Like Dancing Mad(FF6, but there is a FF14 updated version), One Winged Angel (I recommend FF7 Advent Children version), Dark Messenger (FF9)
Uploading tonight :D
I'm not sure how you feel about remix reactions but a channel called Husky By The Geek did a remix of this that I think surpasses the original if you want more guitar
This track remind me of my number 1 ost : quake 2 from Sonic Mayhem.
Yeah I knew you'd love this one.
Understatement
i love this track a lot
Hey, just got here, love the reactions. Masayoshi Soken, the guy who makes the music for Final Fantasy XIV, makes a lot of bangers and you could pick just about any one of them and love it. I'm glad you're enjoying them!
Should be noted though, this track was done by Takafumi Imamura
im just waiting for someone to do great king mog
Out of curiosity - why are you using the AKG k240 studio for this? Do you have any other headphones?
I had others but they broke. I got these last year mainly for the mega long cable and auto adjust size.
I get you, but they really sound bad and you are definitely going to have to revisit alot of the songs.
See, when this is the quality of music you hear every time you die because ping decides you can't dodge the swords, it makes it more bearable. Also, I'm one of the many people who died on the normal fight for this because of being too busy headbanging to this.
I used to think ping was really bad too. But once I found out that the game snapshots where you were when ground targetting aoe markers disappear it made more sense. You think you're much further away but its just the damage is delayed until after the animation goes through, but you've been tagged from the second the marker disappeared. Its when you can run into an explosion and not get hurt as well.
I'd love to see Wrath of the Harrier (Diablo Armament theme) and Return to Oblivion
Return to oblivion is later this week! Just filmed the reaction tonight
It's the first time I'm hearing this song while NOT fighting that thing and omg its so much better! I always kinda disliked it while fighting, but damn, that slaps as a song in general
This song is literally FLEXING by Masayoshi Soken and Nobuo Uematsu.
When I first heard the song in the normal version of the fight I didn’t care one way or another for it.
Having done the ex fight about 40 times in search of the mount has taught me to appreciate it.
Im kinda surprised none requested Ruby weapon theme yet tho.
I got about 20-30 requests for that!
It's not often you can call video game music legitimately gorgeous, but damn if this isn't one of those times.
You can't bang your head with this song, you just can not. I know the mechanics of this fight like the back of my hand but I can't see them cause of the headbanging
Yo jesse your hair looks sick
Falcom music needs some love lately, they make good music for their JRPG series, their universe has way more titles in the same world than even Final fantasy or Fire Emblem.
I think this one OST pretty much sums up the composers.
