Nice to see another FJ60, good on you. You've done things similar to what I've done, mine, a 1986 owned for 23 years now, is on LPG/PETROL(GOOD THING I KEPT THE LPG too, was going to get rid of it but decided not to just before the prices went berserk,(all though pretty useless in out back oz) with a new carby from eBay though and is a high roof (Sahara) but I've kept it simple as well. It's done a few long trips through the middle Birdsville, Stresz from Broken hill north tracks mainly from SA to far N. QLD, many water/mud crossings, otherwise used as daily driver. The engine and drivetrain apart from auto has done 675000km now. That high roof comes in handy for sleeping in the thing to. Have all the usual winch, bullbar, recovery gear, water2/fuel4 Jerry cans, coms 33"s, fridge, NO roof rack etc. Modded distributer and carby, yes I've busted two engine mounts as well. Did a trip with mine and a HJ60 2H last year to far north QLD and funny enough fuel use was more in the FJ but not by much!? Also have a 45L petrol tank, bit of a pain but gives me an excuse to stop more often :) standard seats! The thing is anything but fast but has never left me standing and my winch has sofar only been used to pull others out!? Hey, I put a couple of oil separators (recirculating catch cans) on the engine, one for each breather, keeps the engine oil much cleaner for much longer, just a suggestion.
@@favouritejay yeah makes one want to get the best fuel economy out of it alright. The last trip to Qld I got 14.5l/100 out if it would you believe, that was the best I ever got. Taking it very easy, NO hurry! Having no roof rack helps.
Man I love the fact you haven’t spent every dollar you make on this thing, it screams classic landcrusier practicality rather than P plater extreme or 100k touring build and it probably does both ends of the scale just fine Iv got an 80 now but I still regret selling my 60 everyday There’s some holes in the heart coil springs just can’t fill :(
We just bought a rust bucket, am looking forward to the project but know that the $ figure will be above the expected budget! Like what you've done, thanks for the ideas. Cheers.
Love it , I have a pos 60 series with Holden 308 getting 25 per 100k so your doing alright with that sniper system , you have given me plenty of tips to at least get mine a bit better.

I’m the same with that stupid bloody 45l tank. So annoying. Also makes you think you’re chewing through fuel lol

You know, I may one day put this car on an 80 series chassis
Put in an H55F?
Thought about it. A lot of work for little gain
Can i ask what part failed on the sniper👍
Hi mate. It was the throttle position sensor. When stuck open, it would shut off the injectors.
@@favouritejay thanks buddy. Im still waiting on that dyno video 👍
