Thank you. I was not enjoying exploration as I wasn't understanding it. Many videos (by others) had not improved this for me. Your video did, because it explained the mini-game perfectly. Thank you.
Great video! I've been looking soooo hard for a good exploration guide. Everything else I have seen just FLIES through everything, with very haphazard (or very little) explanation. They seem to focus on "zomg! look at all this phat lootz you can get from doing this!", and don't explain the meat and potatoes of it. You were very clear and well thought-out with the way you presented this. Well done!
Nice video i have just returned to eve after a 12mth break, i used to explore so needed to watch a refresher video on scanning etc, found this video very useful.
thanks Jareth UK. good guide i tried to watch a few others but the people kept going off on irrelevant tangents, and going to in depth when all I was really looking for was a basic how-to that explained hacking and probing. good info
Hi! No Idea if you (or anyone in that matter) is going to read this, but: First of all great video! It really got me going and I don't fear the nullsec that much anymore. Second I hae a small (probably stupid) question. How did you do the "warp 200km above stargate" thing? I only get how to warp to within 200km. Thanks and keep going!
Thanks to this guide, as a fresh player I finally got the hang of it and found my first decent relic site and managed to hack a few of them. The fact a guy came along and blew me to pieces when I was busy working out the last bit and made me lose everything sucked, such is life though :D Have the confidence to at least scan things now thanks to you, just need to get more aware of assholes.
:D Thanks! I've just put together a guide on staying alive in null sec if your corp is based there: ua-cam.com/video/dIMu0bprHJs/v-deo.html let me know what you think
Good video, all i really needed to be fair. I'm trying to explore in a t1 frigate as an alpha so it's pretty tough considering most nodes i find are combat nodes which i can't do and when i finally found a relic site it was defended by a bunch of drones... Rather disappointing really.
Thanks :D. Personally, I've never had drones or anything else at a relic site. Maybe you stumbled across another player or a data site (which do have turrets and enemies). Having said that, I have only scanned relic sites in null-sec so have no idea what happens in low or high
+eric dyrud hey thanks :) I've actually got something in the works but Eve videos are more complex to make because the game is more complex and I have to avoid getting shot at as I am always in null sec :D
Dont compromise on the quality of the bar you just set in this vid. take however much time you need :) then your vids will continue to get better and better! o7
I was wondering, would you say that the Imicus is outright better than the Magnate due to the fact that it has 4 mid slots as opposed to 3? It feels like i have to choose between a cargo scanner and a MWD. It seems like i can't not take an MWD but not having a cargo scanner seems really really REALLY annoying.
Evan Buckley cargo scanner is not needed, it's just handy sometimes for snoody people who want to turn down loot that isn't worth their time. You want as many mids as you can get because High is for cloak and probe, that's it, and low is for nanostructure so everything that helps you like analyzer, micro warp, cargo scanners, cap booster, rangefinder etc etc is in mid. I would maximize the mid slots available to you.
Aahhhhh, it burns my eyes! Buy 2x the probes you need for auto-reload... If the launcher has 8 slots, buy 16 - keep 8 in your ship's cargo. It will load the next 8 automatically. After you're done scanning collect them and the cycle repeats.
I really struggle finding good systems to explore in, most systems i find are either already explored, or there is someone camping in a relic site, i also used dotlan but good systems are either like 30 jumps away, or if i find a good system nearby (5-6 jumps in the last 48 hours) its always camped/explored by someone and I barely get any isk from exploring which really annoys me as i love exploring.
I would say because the astero can fulfil more roles, not that it is better at exploring. e.g. cyno field for friends while being a decent exploration ship. Downside is that the astero is much more expensive and more bling on a killboard
Funny fact. All good youtube channels for Eve, KSP, Elite, sometime by 2050 Star citizen, are run by Brits. Scott Manley is close enough for those of us who speak American.
Hey, I wouldn't say its necessarily an eve video thing but something which happens with tutorials on youtube. You can't really cram every thing into 5-10 mins without speaking really quickly and you can't spend 30 mins to an hour on something otherwise people won't watch it. 20 mins has become kind of a standard. The fact min is 20 mins is purely by accident as I found this out very recently :D

Thank you for this video :) 2 years after you made it and it is still helping others like me.

Excellent tutorial for beginners. Probably the best I have seen
Clear and concise, very well explained thank you.

great video, thanks for unravelling some of the mystery around exploration

Really good stuff! Scanning makes a lot more sense now.
Cheers bud. As a noob thats made it make a hell of a lot more sense!
Very nice tutorial! I would love to see more!
Seeing thos made me want to play Eve again so fucking much.Good job
Still no idea what you where doing :) Just started yesterday so everything is still magic for me :P

+Celador M this genuinely made me smile. Glad you are enjoying it and yes keep an eye on your local or you will become someone elses content :D
Null sec is full of people like that, so I wonder what happens when ganker squad A meets ganker squad B?
thank you for eve online tutorial, please do another if you have time
Thanks a bunch this covered everything! Subbed :)
Great tutorial. i'll pass this around to the newbros in my corp
:D Thanks! I've just put together a guide on staying alive in null sec if your corp is based there: ua-cam.com/video/dIMu0bprHJs/v-deo.html let me know what you think

with that fitting I don't have enough probe strength to find anything below 0.3
any skill recommendation?
very well done! Id sub if you did more of these guides! 10/10
Im actually just going to sub anyways, fly safe!

keep it up, good start!!!!
great guide, explained very clearly, thanks.
What if I want to stay alpha until I have enough isk? Bacause I can't use a cloak right now.
Aahhhhh, it burns my eyes! Buy 2x the probes you need for auto-reload... If the launcher has 8 slots, buy 16 - keep 8 in your ship's cargo. It will load the next 8 automatically. After you're done scanning collect them and the cycle repeats.
Otherwise great video :)
Absolutely agree :). Not sure why I didn't have them during the video :D
I have only one set of probes because 8 of them cost more than the ship with all the fit in it, and I do not mind 10sec of reload.
The extra probes are more for if you have to abandon a set for any reason. You don't want to be in a WH with no probes in your cargohold.
Thanks. I understand now.

I like ur ship, what ship was that. and can I get it with no omg?
When you get two points, it seems that the one further away is always the good one
why most ppl use astero ? and not hellios ?
I would say because the astero can fulfil more roles, not that it is better at exploring. e.g. cyno field for friends while being a decent exploration ship. Downside is that the astero is much more expensive and more bling on a killboard

Why is every single EVE video over 20 minutes long?

P.S having just proposed to my girlfriend, I really like your valentines videos.
Stop staying essentially.
