      I started my Ashtanga practice in February of 2020 before my Shala was closed down because of covid-19. I had stopped my daily practice for awhile but I can happily say that I have been on a daily practice for 6 weeks now and I am feeling the benefits from it. Great video and I will continue to practice

    It's easy to get trained and do, but believe me it's get hard i.e the hardest when comes to get trained by oneself and do thoroughly.
    This comment is something personal only relate to me not hurting any one's hardwork, passion or love to it that's there journey to yoga or yoga for life etc.
    Am in love with it i.e yoga,honestly an intoxicating love since childhood and stays forever.

    • @skywalker113.
      @skywalker113. 5 років тому

      (Personally...I call it the cross-fit style of yoga...lol.)...very structured and often very challenging asanas with emphasism on synchronizing breath with movement and you cannot do freestyle variations as with Vinyasa where the teacher can use their own creative sequences vs primary, intermediate and 4 more (very challenging) series in Ashtanga, where you have to master each pose before moving on to next level. Google 8 limbs of yoga for more info.

    Alessandro,
    Thanks for sharing this. However I'd like to be a little blunt here about the whole Mysore ashtanga picture. If I hit UA-cam I hardly find any indian yoga instructors demonstrating ashtanga.
    Google "Ashtanga yoga" and 99 out of 100 videos wud be a non indian. As an indian I find it both strange and sad that Ashtanga Yoga especially the mysore style has not been spread among the indian masses well.
    During my mysore visit about 4 years ago I found that there was a prominent indian presence in the form of a coconut vendor, a landlord or a cab driver and many others who would cater to the so called "ashtangis" who're foreigners.
    Also if we check the KPJAYI website (a school that boasts of being the only "true lineage" teaching authentic ashtanga) I see there's not ONE certified indian teacher from that school. Whereas if you look at any other western country there are so many certified teachers. I'm from Bombay and when I checked the list of ashtanga teachers I found there's only 1 (Suveer Balvi). I'm excluding the celebrity instructor Deepika Mehta coz she's hardly around in the city to teach. And she's freaking expensive and only available to the elite class student crowd. Even a city like Barcelona has more teachers than bombay. Such a sad plight!
    If you're a student of Sharath pls do ask him why hasn't he taken a single effort to travel to indian cities like bombay for example when he makes his annual trips to all of the major cities around the world where there are already many senior "certified" / "authorised" ashtanga teachers for students. Doesn't this clearly show that he's only interested in teaching those who can pay in euros or dollars? So how does this qualify him to be called a "Param guru" when his objectives of teaching ashtanga is so distorted wherein he chooses who to teach??
    Even in countries like Mexico that is counted among the poor counties in Latin America, there are many ashtanga practitioners but not even half as much in any of indian major metropolitans!
    Had ashtanga been spread in the same way in india then we wud have had so many women who'd be perhaps even better than a Laruga Glaser, Kino Mcgregor or this girl Sofia Xirotiri (who was already a gymnast btw)

      I am new to Ashtanga I think the Astanga is new to western Culture and there are a few in the fore front that can demonstrate Asana s but that s not all the Limbs Laruga teaches breath which is great as Parayama another Yoga is so amazing when It comes to you ,,,are you bitter about the money they make cause the North American culture is all based on Capitalism

    • @shivinunitholi2493
      @shivinunitholi2493 7 років тому +1

      Rae Zola Correction - Ashtanga is not at all new to the West. Infact if I speak about the mysore style ashtanga it was Andre Van Lysbeth who introduced it to Europe back in the mid 1960s after his visit to Mysore. Since the early 70s Americans have been travelling extensively to mysore to learn ashtanga from KPJAYI (from where people like Sofia Xirotiri and countless other international folks have got authorised and certified)
      I'm from Bombay, India and I got to tell you that the Jois family who run the KPJAYI has never made one trip to any of indian metropolitans to conduct a workshop till date. Whereas they have been travelling to Europe and America since the 70s.
      And you got to check the KPJAYI website to see it for yourself how many certified indian teachers teach in india - answer to that is 0. There's only 1 certified indian teacher from Kpjayi and she is an American resident btw - Sharmila Desai.
      As of 2017, out of the hundreds of students who've enrolled at kpjayi there are only 10 indians. Rest all are foreigners. I got this info first hand from an indian practitioner who's currently practising there.
      And yes last but not the least I've also been told that Sharath wouldn't travel to any indian metropolitan like bombay unless there are 100 students enrolling for it. It's a totally unrealistic expectation coz I'm sure there are not even 100 people in this city who're aware of the term Mysore style ashtanga.
      Here in the whole of bombay there's only one authorised teacher and he's a bit expensive top. There's one more - Deepika Mehta but she's always on international trips especially to the west with her partner the famous Mark Robberds, teaching mostly outside India.
      So my question to you -
      Do you still think ashtanga is new to western culture?
      You still think ashtanga is easily available to us indians?
      Where are you from. Please get a fact check done before you argue on this.

    • @shivinunitholi2493
      @shivinunitholi2493 7 років тому +2

      Rae Zola and to add something I still can't afford kpjayi mysore despite being an indian considering time (which is a minimum of 1 month to be spent)and money (even the "discounted fee for indians" is an expensive affair for me). And that's primarily the reason why you'd find more of international (precisely western) crowd - Americans and Europeans who have the luxury to spend that much time and money

    • @RaeZoladawn777
      @RaeZoladawn777 7 років тому

      I see the dilemma I cant afford it either but I do practice Kripalu and Hatha ' although Ashtanga is a beautiful yoga I cant understand yoga being about money it should be a free gift to many ppl it is essentially about all your well being/ i know how much guru probably cashed in in NA but I dont believe it was his intent the blessing of Yoga 4 the western culture is so immediate you can understand why the need is so large,,,it must be frustrating for you. I watched an east Indian man doing ashtanga on line and I saw the dif in his movements and demonstration much more real and flexible and his breath was evident The Namerican s demos can be so intimidating and aggressively done with a high end showcase to exemplify the postures i am sorry you have seen first hand the aggression and flood of irony that follows Yoga as a streamline money making grab ...i on the other hand have to veiw my small contributions in Yoga as a blend of experience respect and love for guru s .. i am called once in awhile to teach a small class so i use what i know and pay it forward we give the classes for free and ps i am alway s saying my student s know better then me and are my best teacher s some of them are beautiful.....beginners like me always beginning

    • @shivinunitholi2493
      @shivinunitholi2493 7 років тому

      Rae Zola lemme point out that here in India where i come from, an Ashtanga class is even more expensive than what a sex worker would charge for the same duration. So I ain't calling it "beautiful' like you do. The ashtanga yoga that's made famous in the west by KPJAYI has become a huge mother fucking business. Period!
      And because it's still much easily available for you than many of us Indians here you have such lengthy explanation defending it. I don't need it coz I know the Shala in mysore and the teachers getting "authorised" and "certified" are there to just make money (including the one who's video is put up here). They'd never teach any for free. Forget it

    Очень красивая и сильная женщина, но явно не негритянка, слишком сильный загар. Я, конечно восхищаюсь, но одновременно недоумеваю, чего не хватает ей и её подругам по йоге? При таких крепких мышцах и растяжке, детей рожать должно быть легко и не так мучительно. А там похоже женский клуб!
