Cage's paintings are absolutely superb. Like William Blake, he is greatly under-recognized as a visual artist solely because (or so it would seem) he is better known in another medium. This is not a good reason.
these are not exactly 'paintings', but watercolours. cage doesn't have a big euvre as a visual artist. if he wasn't a great composer, it would most likely not have been recognized at all.
