I understand wanting to protect a QB, but they need to protect themselves. He was running for a first down and slid late to make sure he passed the line. The forearm is to avoid a helmet to helmet. People take like the brace hurts more than a helmet. If it was an issue, the league would not allow braces in play.
@scottcarder8776 and he slid late. Could Azeez possible avoided the contact? Maybe. Did he hit I'm in the chest and not the head like some have said? 💯. The simple fact is they were in open field, and if Trevor was focused on staying safe more than that first down, he would have slid 2 yds earlier and there would be no question if he gave himself up in a safe manner.

Sorry it isn't! I would have told azeez to hit him as he's a RB when the QB scrambles out of the pocket here if I were the defensive coordinator. Guess I would be like Greg Williams being that anti-woke old school guy from 30 years ago as QBs are SOFT!
Al-Shaair is a great player. The game done got soft. Play football. I come from the, “you got jacked up era.” We played to knock you out. It’s part of the game
I kinda said that in my comments but it was over the top for now days with what we have learned about long term brain damage. I also said I have not seen any complaints from Trevor. He's really not the sliding type.
The worst hit ever on a QB was on Cam Newton against the Denver Broncos, the next season game after their superbowl run, the strong safety torpedo himself directly at Cam’s head and hit him with full impact, he grabbed his head with both hands and stayed in the game although suffering an obvious concussion. And nothing was really done but a fine if I remember correctly, if that would’ve been Tom Brady to get hit like that, the defensive player probably suspended for 3-6 games. In my opinion, It’s when Denver had the number 1 Defense in the NFL for a few seasons and they were sending a message to Cam who they just beat in SB, but they never attempted to hit Tom Brady in the same fashion, whom they would meet in AFC Championship games. Cam Newton and North Carolina were never the same after that hit. It was the time when there was a huge difference on the hits a large Black quarterback in Cam would receive and the defenses were not penalized accordingly like when they hit other QB’s.
I gave you a thumbs up. I'm black but can't blame how hard he got hit on his color. I just don't know enough. I do know players would bounce off of him like children.. if someone had brought a club on the field I would understand. Don't get me started with Henry. He put a couple of stiff arms on My Jaguar players and I almost got thrown out the game demanding unnecessary roughness on that running back. I respect your opinion.
James makes a very good point about needing that type of player on your team, and God knows I miss Josh Sitton on the Packers, but Sitton never played outside the rules
These QB’s know how to take advantage of the rules Trevor hesitated to slide and got his bell rung. I’m not saying it wasn’t a dirty hit but the NFL need to do something about these QB’s trying bend the rules the defenders already walking on egg shells because the game favor offense too much.
He wasn't taking advantage of any rules. Once he runs, he becomes a runner and all QB rules go out the window.. All he had to do was touch any part of him and he leads with his arm with intent. He's a dirty POS player.
@ I wasn’t necessarily talking just about him or this play I was talking about QB’s in general because they all take advantage of the rules I’ve seen it multiple times. He hesitated to slide and unfortunately he got rocked you can’t just expect a defender to slow down his momentum when he already going full speed.
couldn't agree more with what Acho said at the end there. He got a concussion not because of the hit, but because his head hit the ground. I agree with the suspension, but not enough is being said about all these QB refusing to wear guardian caps. Prob could have prevented this concussion.
Funny how none of them agree with the suspension because, "it's football", "it's a violent league", and "he's a physical player... ". Chase Daniel actually was a quarterback and knows how vulnerable he was and they are when he have to scramble. The hit was dirty, lead with the forearm hitting him almost straight in the throat. 3 games is a gift. Had this been on mahomes or allen... he's suspended for the remainder of the year. You know that.

@@hunterthomas6136bruh it was the first down line up for grabs, it’s a divisional game, like come on man, I understand some of yall don’t like excessive force but the best teams have enforcers that put fear into offenses, ain’t going to be no easy yards, the best thing outside of a turnover on defense is make them go 3nOut and they only picked up 1 yard, that is demoralizing
It was one of the dirtiest hits in NFL history... He was over 5 yards away when the slide started. Azeez didn't lower his body to project at Trevor until after the slide started. THEN he uses his brace as a weapon. Do I think he wanted to specifically concuss Trevor? Prob not, but he definitely knew the slide was happening and still went in to hurt the player. Definition of dirty.
The real question you should ask is why is he leading with his forearm? he’s leading with his forearm because he didn’t want a head on head collision because the league would’ve called it. 🤷🏾♂️ Trevor was getting greedy and was trying to get the first down , and the defender was trying to stop him
Leading with the forearm is clear signal of intent to hit with unnecessary force. Football is violent, but players don't have to go max on every play. Punishment deserved, I hope he learns. On the flip side--QBs can't play foxy and fake slides and runs out of bounds. If they want the protection, they also need to abide by the rules.
You lead with your forearm in order not to hit with the helmet. There have been plenty of penalties where a player leads with a shoulder and gets a helmet to helmet call. The slide was late. He wanted the first down.
@Uneek637 Yeahh, nah bro. You don't lead with your forearms while looking at the qb, mind you, to not hurt him. It's clear as day this dude launched himself downward to hit Lawrence.
@@giovan5219 than he should of slid early and not worried about the first down and closing the gap with the defender like he did. It was open field. He had time to slid safely. He chose the first down.
You can't say players don't have to go max out on every play. If that's the case, why didn't Trevor slide before the 1st down to avoid the hit. Maybe he didn't need to lead with the forearm, but it's easy to dissect this play after the fact. In real time, with both of them barreling at each other full speed, this stuff happens quickly. James is right that once guys start overthinking things on the field, in the moment, is when mistakes happen, and you risk injuring yourself. Guys lead with the forearm or shoulder all the time, but angles change fast in football. That doesn't necessarily mean it was dirty.
I don't have a problem with 3 game suspension. But i mean but if anything like this happens with him. He needs kicked out of NFL. That being said stop the sliding when you cross the line of scrimmage their running backs.
All this BS about Trevor sliding late is nonsense! Guy went after him with braced forearm straight into the chin which is unprotected with intent to hurt him. This guy has history of playing dirty and he should have been suspended rest of season and playoffs with no pay.
@ Hit Caleb same dirty hit after play was over, punched a guy, elbowed Carr to the chin (same as Trevor), nailed Pollard while he was out of bounds… hmm almost like there’s a trend here 🤔 Ohhh he also stated on record he HATES QBs
@ first of all caleb was in bounds and the hit was legit, and elbowed carr? Must of not been w the texans lol but so what if he said he hates qbs i mean we can all say wtv we want and doesnt mean that we're right or wrong
I love Runyan as an Eagles fan, but his statement is wild when there's footage of him planting his feet then launching himself after the play at a linebacker lol.
If your daughter's boyfriend accidentally, with no intent, hit her, how would you feel? No intent. Everything's a but unless it happens to you. At what point does a cheap shot like that deserve more than a 3 week suspension? What about not getting up off the field? Find out you can't walk in the morning? Has that ever happened? Idiots! No intent.
I watched his other plays. He is a dirty player🤷♀️ Many times they call players, "dirty" i disagree" but in this case I do. There is a difference between the the hit to Caleb when they played the Lions, that was clean. This was not he lead with forearm. He knows dam well he doesn't need to hit the QB that hard to take him out. Suspended him for being stupid.
I live in and love Jacksonville. Love jaguars. I agree that hit was over the line. Not as much as some say.. just my opinion. He should have gotten suspended and for about that amount of time. The team should have responded like they did. He did apologize. I can't dismiss that. It is football though. Funny thing Trevor has yet to complain. He is a real Baller. I believe. I believe. Just me going off of what I have seen. If Trevor had it to do all over again he would have dove helmet first, shoulder pads squared towards the first down marker. . Just saying he will be just fine. Physically and mentally. Thats my Quarterback man
If you watch the play dude use his forearm to hit, as well as the HIT causing Law to hit the turf hard too. My thing we seem PattyMahomes do it, Fake slide, they need to talk about this off-season it’s not fair for a Defensive player hesitation to see weather or not they going fully with a slide. Both can be right and wrong at the same time.
Mistake #1: never ever apologize for a dirty hit on an opposing player. Own it and wear it as a badge of honor Mistake #2: never ever voice your support or embrace that player and the dirty play in the open but instead do it behind closed doors and in private.

It wasn't targeting or helmet contact. TL sliding at the last minute brought it upon himself. The defender has every right to defend that 1st down. The ground caused that concussion. The guy shouldn't be suspended.
It wasn’t a “late hit on Caleb”… he wasn’t fined, he wasn’t flagged for a late hit. I understand wanting to protect a QB, but they need to protect themselves. He was running for a first down and slid late to make sure he passed the line. The forearm is to avoid a helmet to helmet. People take like the brace hurts more than a helmet. If it was an issue, the league would not allow braces in play.
Exactly this, josh allen I've seen fake this and go for td because the dbs have eased off, if you don't wanna be hit don't run
@@Uneek637 he was a projectile coming at him Trevor had slid giving self up
@scottcarder8776 and he slid late.
If you want to have a great defense, you need to have a lunatic at MLB. History shows this.
Urlacher
Patrick Willis
Trotter
Ray Lewis
All these guys were on elite defenses.
Yep and all 4 would have hit Trevor the same way lol
“The shield is to protect the quarterback and everybody else”💯
Yeah, wasn't trying to hurt the guy or anything (Leads with an elbow into a sliding QB's face). They teach a lot of elbow tackles in the NFL? I mean, I like the Texans, but this is about as dirty as it gets.
The alternative would be to lead with his head then huh? You should stupid af. This isn’t flag football.
Forearm shivers are taught by football coaches.
He was probably going low to t laws tighs but since he slid it changed the impact zone to his chest/neck
Then pulls the race and Islamophobia card completely ruining the entire "apology", when he's known to be the dirtiest player in the league. What a piece of trash. He should be kicked out the league, entirely. 3 game suspension isn't enough..
People were bringing up him being muslim and disparaging him about it...not NFL personnel but fans..that's why he brought that up...many people do that on social media often ...
The first commenter is an idiot
How do you know he's a Muslim
Everything is about race nowadays like bruh really 🤨

Lawrence slid too damn late on that play for Al-Shaair to do anything about it.
Yeah you could pull up or at least try to take some heat off of it. He didn't slow his momentum not 1% if anything he sped up. It's like someone who sees a yellow light so they hella speed up instead of slowing down.
Lol, no..
Thank you , someone who knows football
@00ghostcobra no he didn't lol. What game were you waTCHING?

Sorry it isn't! I would have told azeez to hit him as he's a RB when the QB scrambles out of the pocket here if I were the defensive coordinator. Guess I would be like Greg Williams being that anti-woke old school guy from 30 years ago as QBs are SOFT!

The way he choked on his words when mentioning the slide 🤣 he knows it really wasn’t intentional.
I agree with Jones and Acho on this take.....you gonna Learn today
James Jones buggin as always
James played WR and was a dawg
The Caleb Williams hit was clean to me. He wasn’t out of bounds. No defense for the other hits though
good thing it's not up to you
If dude didn't get hurt... would anybody had cared about that hit.....??? Prolly not
Acho you have said and I quote the best ability is availability he made a dirty hit and should have been suspended
His intent was absolutely Clear. He straight up LEAD WITH HIS FOREARM
Texans defense are some hard hitters . Demeco definitely coaching it 😂
Football is soft. Exactly why flag football players think they can talk that talk about NFL players. SMH 🤦🏾♂️ 😂 pls bring back Real Football 🏈
Nah James Jones you wrong on this take
Him and Acho
He thinks all black people are victims so will side with them no matter what. He defended Tyrik Hill for gods sake. He belongs on the View.
Naw…opinions are relative and they are simply giving their opinions. Also, don’t be soft
couldn't agree more with what Acho said at the end there.
Jason "the bodyguard" Peters..much respect
This has to happen otherwise you will be green lighting retaliation. Next you After Stroud let’s go of a pass a DE suplexes him straight on his neck… to “ENFORCE” as was referred to Herat.
He laughed at his head! The intent was clear
That 300 lbs defensive guy tore his ACL coz he's 300lbs
Log off right now
I actually agree with James. 😅😅😅 My only question is why lead with the forearm?
The forearm with the brace on it
I was waiting for them to bring up Vontaze Burfict. Him & Pacman Jones cost my Bengals a playoff win.
And peko
@javondockery8287 Ahh.. can't forget Peko lol
It's clear James Jones opinion is biased from playing with Aaron Rodgers for too long I can emphasize with wanting a rod to get a serious head injury though
“Yo stop him cuz he out rushing me right now”😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 shady hilarious
James Jones, you said it best they're both making a move at the same time. The best answer I've heard. Al-Shaair is a great player. I don't care what anybody has to say about it.
Before you comment go watch the whole play trev didn’t slide late lol 😭😭
People need learn the difference between a “dirty” hit and a “illegal” one.. the hit is just illegal it’s not dirty whatsoever
It’s both. He wanted a free hit on a 55 million dollar a year QB.
@ if that helps you feel better go for it!
@@904Zambo you’re being a prisoner of the moment
Trevor didn't hesitate to slide
This was an exceptionally well executed discussion
The real question you should ask is why is he leading with his forearm? he’s leading with his forearm because he didn’t want a head on head collision because the league would’ve called it. 🤷🏾♂️ Trevor was getting greedy and was trying to get the first down , and the defender was trying to stop him
Wrong. He had time to completely avoid Lawrence. He did this intentionally
@@StephenNatoli-l6j this is just false stop spreading your false propaganda you know absolutely nothing

Shady real af.
People saying “led with the forearm” have clearly never tackled someone who’s 6’6 240lbs
He didn’t hit Caleb late it was a clean hit
1 game max suspension stop being soft
How many times has that clown committed this same penalty? That's why he got 3 games and should've been more. You would be whining if it was on Stroud
That hit could have been really bad. He should be happy that Trevor just has a concussion. The way he hit him he could have broke his neck.
Take they money I wonder what school home boy went to
Seeing this real time, this WASN'T an egregious hit!!! If he had previous infractions punish him then, not retroactively!!!
Some needs to change 🤷🏽♂️not fair both ways
Leading with the forearm is clear signal of intent to hit with unnecessary force. Football is violent, but players don't have to go max on every play. Punishment deserved, I hope he learns. On the flip side--QBs can't play foxy and fake slides and runs out of bounds. If they want the protection, they also need to abide by the rules.
I agree but Lawrence didn't fake slide here. It was about as normal as a slide can look.
12:25 Hilarious! Stop him! 😂😂😂😂😂😂
The same way it’s the defenders responsibility to ease up it’s also the QBs responsibility to slide on time.
All this BS about Trevor sliding late is nonsense! Guy went after him with braced forearm straight into the chin which is unprotected with intent to hurt him. This guy has history of playing dirty and he should have been suspended rest of season and playoffs with no pay.
I guess he told you he did it on purpose and w the intend to hurt him huh? You sound goofy saying that, yes it was an illegal/dirty hit
@ Hit Caleb same dirty hit after play was over, punched a guy, elbowed Carr to the chin (same as Trevor), nailed Pollard while he was out of bounds… hmm almost like there’s a trend here 🤔
Ohhh he also stated on record he HATES QBs
@ first of all caleb was in bounds and the hit was legit, and elbowed carr? Must of not been w the texans lol but so what if he said he hates qbs i mean we can all say wtv we want and doesnt mean that we're right or wrong
I love Runyan as an Eagles fan, but his statement is wild when there's footage of him planting his feet then launching himself after the play at a linebacker lol.
James is a True Football Player🫡
He did not hit Caleb late
Dramond is trash. Losing him isn't a big deal.
Idiots! No intent.
Trevor is a man unmonst men. If my daughter was half as tuff as he. I would be going to her to get my ol lady off me😂
Stii have you a thumbs up. I get it.
Own it and wear it as a badge of honor
Mistake #2: never ever voice your support or embrace that player and the dirty play in the open but instead do it behind closed doors and in private.
Why do they call it "protecting your QB" when the QB is already asleep..
1 or 2 games let’s be real
A player who has not been ejected or suspended before. Define repeat offender.
He on film doing dirty plays
There is a video of hitting brady in the throat. On the same video, he hit pollard out of bounds and he slammed caleb williams as well.
did you not listen? 1:19
Fined twice already this season plus multiple times in previous season. He is repeat offender
Thank you
Should the fake slide move be a fine then that would resolve the issue QBs must held accountable
If you can’t hit a qb then they shouldn’t be able to run. The optics thing is the whole reason why they’re doing it.
When the QB slides, you can't knock the QB out. You are aware of the rule when the QB slides you are giving yourself up. This was not a sack or a Mahomes running up the line.
He led with the forearm. What are we talking about here defending this guy?
It was a late slide though
We banning tackling with Arms now? You guys are soft.
@@brandonhallam51 Bro, you're soft too lol. You're not on the field. They are. You're here typing away on UA-cam just like everyone else. Stop talking like you're "hard" cause you're ok with an illegal hit. He was suspended for a reason.
@@brandonhallam51c'mon man, you're not remedial. No one said anything about banning tackling with arms. His intent wasnt to tackle (head across the target, leading with shoulder and wrapping up). That was just a cheap hit. Personally I think 1 or 2 games is enough. 3 is excessive, especially without pay. Actions have consequences though.
Demeco Ryans in a press conference said he submitted that play to the league (probably because the Chicago Bears sideline reacted, kicked, and swarmed him…) it was found not late. Demeco said he submitted it because he wanted to make sure that there wasn’t any grey areas when coaching.
Before this Azeez has never been suspended or ejected. Probably should do you research Chase 😉😘
The league ain't having no more Suhs
Three games is ridiculous. He doesn't get three games for that hit on half the QBs in the League.
James always the voice of reason
He absolutely had intent to inflict pain. Notice how he led with his forearm to the head.
Sorry but ive seen josh allen fake a qb slide and go for td, what are defenders supposed to do, as soon as you out the pocket and running then its on you, otherwise dont run it
I’m 50/50 with this because it’s a hit in a sliding qb but at the same time you see mahomes pump fake dudes all the time because they don’t want to give that late hit and he takes off for extra yards so I don’t think it’s cool but at the same time wth was he supposed be o do if Lawrence decides to keep running is all I’m saying
JJ talking that ish. Let AR take that hit, his entire tune changes 😂😂
I completely disagree with James. Once the quarterback starts to slide feet first, the defender needs only to touch the quarterback.
Runyan has never come across as a former player. Became middle management the second he retired
