The man in the center knows Shawns health and gives Shawn a lil chuckle and big smile of appreciation because he knows Shawn wanted to get up and stand planted(shortly after they clapped. The music of India inspired him, then he gave back and inspired them)Theres is no human in the back evolution records that could make a fuvking guitar sound like a sitar! This is pure magic, NEVER forget SHAWN PLS!!!!!!!
A thoroughly beautiful and astounding performance! That he could still play this way when his health was such an issue is really extraordinary! He sadly passed away later that year.
I come back to this every once in a while myself, funny we picked the same day! What a gift Shawn was...hands down one of the most timeless bits of improvisation I've ever listened to.
@@TruthSurge well i do agree no one has or ever has come close to shawns playing, buckethead has done a great job stepping up after shawn. i dont think all his licks are paul gilbert inspired but i do see what you are saying, comparing talent to another is just foolish tho theres so many variables in what makes a player good
@@TruthSurge Actually Shawn greatly admired Buckethead, and if you listen to Bucketheads playing, you'd know his signature "outside sounding" tapping lick, is directly inspired by the solo from Kaiser Nancarrow from The Tri-Tone Fascination. It was a solo recorded one note at a time, meant to be unplayable. Buckethead got his hands on the demo, and unaware it was recorded one note at a time, took the time and actually learned to play it, requiring the two hand 8 finger tapping he's become pretty known for. Shawn heard Buckets recording of it, and was in awe someone played it, and actually reached out to work with Bucket, although it never came to fruition. None of these guitar players are in a competition, they respect each other. There are recordings from NAMM performances with Shawn and Paul, and they both pass off solos. Just saying, do some digging before making assumptions, not trying to bash you.
@@TruthSurge ua-cam.com/video/NdiMMML84HI/v-deo.html the words from Shawn Lane himself, not trying to bash you, since you bashed yourself. You sound like a stuck up wanna be lol, these musicians are friends, they all would tell you to chill, and probably not want to be around you. This is Shawn Lanes official page basically, don't bring that energy here.
Also, if you listen to the album its like, super obvious its recorded one note at a time, if you are unable to hear that without being told, I am not sure your opinion is worth much when in a real discussion.
Dude. You need to relax. Obviously you never met Shawn, you bring the complete opposite energy he represented. He was literally chasing enlightenment, constantly looking to improve and soak in information and evolve, and clearly had a heart of gold and shared his aura and genius with us all. You’re a super basic being, living an existence wrapped up in your ego and don’t even realize it. You play and post covers on UA-cam dude, and argue about guitar players to a point of attacking. This video is about Shawn Lane and an almost out of body experience he creates through his playing. You’re energy ruins that. It is okay to compare players and discuss who Shawn has influenced, no one said BH is better, but if you can’t recognize his talent and innovation, you have a super elementary understanding of guitar playing and music in general. Hence why you play covers and try to use that as some sort of leverage in an argument when discussing the greatest players of all time. Work on yourself, and I guarantee your playing will improve and you’ll move on from UA-cam and playing other peoples music. (Also you linked to times in this video, and made it seem like you were shitting on Shawn’s playing)
Shawn Lane playing makes me feel something no other musician can !!!
I'm just glad to exist in a time where technology makes it possible for people to experience Shawn Lane's pure greatness

At least 500 of these views are mine.
The same. It brings me to tears. Like an angel sent to deliver a message that few have heard.
@@perfectclarity6705yes. Exactly. Like some Devine coded message. His solos have so much information. They melt me
4.8k views fuckin sickening he's the G.O.A.T

Thankfully so much footage has been captured. I didn't discover him until he was gone. No one has affected me like him.
Same here brother , its like someone came from space to invoke within me emotions I didn't know existed
the greatest thing ever done with a guitar ever in the history of the goddamned world
@2:30.....that look the drummer gives the bassist. Always chokes me up.
Game recognizes game.
My goodness this has so few views despite being uploaded years ago. This was gorgeous mind bending guitar playing at its finest!
Okay, another example of how much of an alien this guy was. Far ahead of his time.
Came back to this gem after 6 years ago watched it

His flow, his power… God wanted to play personally.
Wow! I'm a big Buckethead fan and now I understand why he admired Shawn so much
