In one word, I found the Denon to be Mature. Aged like fine wine. For reasons of conflict I settled for the Avr-x3500h as it sounded very close to 800 in 2 channel pure direct mode. Great review as always. Keep up the great work.
I like the way you put it. Mature. It's not trying to impress anyone because it doesn't have to. It's confident and sure-footed in it's approach to sound reproduction.
gave you thumbs up for actually describing what is meant by balance. now i just need to know what do they mean by warm sound, and what is meant by neutral sound. imaging.
In my book imagining is the placement of the individual instruments in the sound stage of the speaker. The more defined in space the better. Warm is a full tube like sound. People mistake it with bass. It's not. Neutral has no color added in and is Analytical and is best for the recording studio. This is all my views, after decades of listening to music and it's like describing color...
I just got the Denon PMA 1600ne which l like alot. I had the Cambridge cxa81 for a week and the treble was too forward for me. This Denon sounds so much better in sound, looks and the DAC is better for connecting TuneIn music from my TV thru the optical port then the Cxa81.
Really appreciate this review - plenty of relevant information with some nice, subjective thoughts mixed in to let us understand where it stands for you and in real world use. Super excited to delve into Denon products!
Great work as usual man! That is a sharp looking unit, and looks like good build. I like the back panel, plenty of inputs, and nice layout. Thanks for the "under the hood" look. I like that isolation for the digital circuitry. I looks like it has some really decent internal components, especially for the price point. I have used Denon AVR's for years, and have always had a great experience with them. Thanks for this video, and have a great one man!
The balance and flat sounding description... well that helped me to decide. Many people like warm sounds, but when a person's speaker is warm, that it's going to be a mismatch. What is not clear is the soundstage of this piece as well as the clarity and openness. I'm happy to know that you like tone controls; that's my main criteria for a good preamp of integrated amp. Not all music comes in perfect recording, and if you can't adjust it to your taste after spending $$$ or if you have to get a hernia unplugging and replugging in different speakers and gears... Sigh it's really an anti-climax and frankly very very tedious. And again, thank you Sean so much for doing what you do. You are dangerous, your mention of the Onkyo - well, it's on it's way to my home. One of my trips to the U.S. well, I hope I can route it to your home - one day.
You bring up a good point regarding clarity and openness. This is a very tricky thing for me to navigate because it all hinges on your personal reference points. For example, if you are new to this hobby, then a full-featured integrated like this one may showcase information that you never knew existed! It'll sound ridiculously clear! However, if you're somebody who has owned tons of integrated amps, then you'll likely notice that full-featured integrated amps rarely sound as open and as clear as a more-simple, purpose-built audiophile solution. I outright mentioned that in the review, but I suppose I could have done a better job of adding context. But meh, covering all bases would require scripted videos, and I'm not about that life. :D
@@ZeroFidelity All solid state amps sound exactly the same, as long as it's not being pushed to the point of distortion. This is a widespread misconception that amplifiers have sound characteristics when in reality there is none. Hundreds of blind AB tests have been conducted, and countless measurements. A good few decades ago some amplifiers had different methods of gaining the signal, and as a result some sounded pretty bad. But these days 99% of all solid state amp companies use tried and tested amplifier designs. There's no difference in sound between a $1000 100watt amp and a $100,000 100 watt amp.
@@jeanpierresnyman652 I wish I could co-sign on that thought. Good review....I am waiting on my new PMA 600NE....same Amp...just a little less power...55WPC 6ohms. which I'm going to pair with some ELAC debut 2.0 / 6.2 speakers
i have it, and i'm in love with it. paired to my ELAC 6.2 debut sound really nice . i use also with it my sennheiser HD660s and it sound really warm, precisely and good without any fatigue.
@@alessandroparma6297 I really wanted to try out the combination you have of Elac 6.2 and Denon PMA 600...I want to use the pair for my turntable....There were some reviews which told that Elac 6.2 needs raw power to get the best output. Is Denon able to drive your Elac's especially in the low range?
I paired my PMA800NE to a pair of Maggies LRS (with subwoofer). I love the sound in an apartment, but my neighbors may disagree. This is my entry level setup while saving for a "real system". Enjoy the music-- NOT the Gear!
In the 90s and early 2000's things were the other way around. At that price point the Marantz would be the more 'neutral' and balanced sounding amp compared to the Denon. I have experienced this myself when I bought my Marantz PM7200 (which I still own) Its competitor, the slightly more expensive Denon PMA 1500MKII was more bassy and trebly, at the expense of a clear midrange. The Denons in the budget and mid price range always were more powerful than the Marantzs, better at driving more difficult speakers. This still is the case I think. But Marantz then already went a bit further in the high-end with their product line than Denon did.
Great review! I've had both Pm5005 and Denon720ae. The Marantz sounded thin, to much treble and no warmth. Denon sounds just great, similar to the what is being said about the 800ne
@@dm95422 I have Denon PMA-720AE since over 2 years. I love it! It's my best amplifier, but I has so much more expensive. Denon is amazing, I love this amp. Probably I change it for 800NE. It's good idea?
nice amp. it's good to see the wattage compared to some of the lower offerings in integrated amps being released in N.A. these days. seems like all the MFGs are omitting line out, pre out or sub out on most equipment.. Not sure why the engineers don't include these.. Would like to see Onkyo A-9150 review and how it stacks up ..
I know with Denon that matching the amp with a good pair of floorstanders negates the need for a sub but for you guys with bookshelves it can be a pain.
Also the no sub output is no big deal. As a lot of audio experts would agree the best way to hook up a sub in a two channel stereo setup is to connect the sub to the speaker outputs in parallel with the main speakers. Since the input impedance is very high in a subwoofers hi level speaker input it doesnt load down and draw any power from the amplifier. In this way it allows the subwoofer to take of the sound characteristics of the amp itself!
Great review Sean. I love your channel. I'd be grateful to hear a review of the Denon pma 1600ne (next model up), since it contains within it a USB DAC (handy to connect direct to a laptop) as well as an on board phono stage.
I have the amp and it runs with the kef q300 speakers. The sound is fine and the features are all there. I paid 340 € and for the price its a good deal.
Denon have just released the PMA-600NE integrated amp, cheaper than the 800NE but it has a subwoofer out - a feature missing from the 800NE. 600NE has one less optical in, Phono is MM only and caters for one pair of speakers rather than the two in the 800NE and is 70W in 4ohms (compared to 85W )
replaced Onkyo Integra M504 and P304 that were starting to age. Deftech Studiomonitor 350s and Energy C2s with a deftech sub, and I am blown away. It punches above its weight and sounds great.
Run it off of 240 volts 60HZ if it is switchable from 120 volts 60 HZ. If you heard that on 250 50 hz overseas in like say France. 240 volts 60 HZ wakes things up big time. Some are only switchable inside. Depends on brand and models
Great review as usual Sean UR Da man ! Your boy Ron never got back to me on my questions on the Parasound Intergrated. Obviously I still bought it and I'm enjoying it quite a bit even without the S400s I believe it was a great investment and will match up well once they arrive. Just for anyone interested including you I hooked up my iMac to the Hint 6 via the usb input and the built in ESS Sabre32 Reference DAC ES9018K2M is pretty sweet. It accepts up to 32 bit 384kHz native DSD & DoP I'm loving my digital library. This bit of info no pun intended on the dac hadn't been reviewed to my knowledge. I was not aware of the Dac's performance. I don't believe Ron in his review of the previous model did a critique in the DAC section. Enough of my rambling, have great day kid and I'm so glad you're back on the job all better. Peace yo.
I had the Denon PMA800NE hooked up to my Klipsch RP600M and it was a great match. Now the Denon is paired with KEF Q-150`s and a REL t-zero sub in a small room (10 X 12) and it sounds pretty damn good. Actually the Denon 800 series including the CD player and network player works very well and like ZF mentioned in this review, pairs very well with a wide variety of speakers.
@@AromaFrank I would say the Klipsch. The Denon is a very muscular sounding integrated that doesn't have the most refined top end but the RP-600's balance that out in my opinion.
@@AromaFrank I also think the KEF Q 150's are overpriced. I got mine on sale for $299 which you can get them on sale now and that is a real bargain. The 600's are also on sale now and also a bargain. The KEF's are a small speaker and have their limits and they do work well in a small to medium room at moderate listening levels otherwise they will distort as the volumes moves to the right.
@@deputy3690 Thanks so much. Talking about the KEF, how would you compare the 150 with 350? I have a velodyne 10” sub, my room is small about 8x9. And I would like to have speakers close to the wall. Thanks again!
@@AromaFrank Glad I can help out. I also have the KEF 350's and I find them a bit "boomy" as I have them on a shelf about 10 inches from the wall and I know better that is way too close. They are much better on stands 2 or 3 feet away from any wall, but that is not my situation right now. I actually prefer the 150's over the 350's in a small room close to a wall. I just purchased a pair of the Jamo's Concert series 93 II after seeing Zero Fidelity's review and I prefer them over the Klipsch 600's also. They are on sale now at Crutchfield for $399.00! Very huge sounstage, I love them. Also for $75.00 are the Sony core series SS-C5's or something like that.... they are VERY NICE as well and on sale at Best Buy. All of these are rear ported but I think they are okay against the wall say 8 to 12 inches away... not ideal but they all sound very good for the money!

rowan 3 “highly regarded” lol! Btw, Marantz and Denon brands are own by Sound United LLC since 2017, they basically produce the same products with cosmetic differences. Recently, I bought an HD-DAC1 for which I had to wait for months only to realize later that Sound United had moved the production from China to Vietnam (!). Vietnam doesn’t necessarily comes to mind when you think about “highly regarded” audio gears (!). Lol!
I went audio shopping with a friend of mine who wanted something nice, but not blow the bank.. We settled on this amp's less featured sibling (same power stage sans the digital input) with the Klipsch RP-600M.. Tbh I didn't know you could get that good a sound for the money.. Great review!
@@IsiakaOo Yes,forgot to write my review. The amp has a nice warm sound.I like it. I'm coming off from a pre and finale that had too much gain. My ears were really overdriven!
How did you find it? I'm loving mine but it definitely sounded a little flat out of the box and definitely needed that warm up period you're tallking about.
@@Trebor-u4q Yes,it does sound good now, nice warm sound. I'm coming off a pre and finale that had so much voltage gain that my ears were overdriven even at very low volume. At least I can crank this up with no problem.
We should start to see more and more subwoofers (like the svs ones) coming with high level input, so you will get the speaker amps coloring and send it to the subwoofer aswell.
One of the important questions I would want to know about the amplifier comparison is how to they image in respect to each other? Transparency? Tonal characteristics are definitely important, but the comparison is just a bit of an incomplete picture.
@Vital Vaitkun Hi I own the Onkyo 9150 integrated amplifier and found what you said very interesting. I currently have monitor audio bronze 2 speakers and I find them a little bright with most content so I'm looking for an upgrade, do you think the focal chora 806 would be a good choice?
I have an old Denon PMA amp and still love it. I recently added ELAC Debut 6.2 and am running A+B with my old JBL's which are both 6 Ohm. Sounds great but not the 8 ohm + as you recommended. Am I flirting with damage??
Yessss "Lets roll the intro..." It iritates me SOOOOO much when UA-camrs say "lets dive straight in" and then play a bloody intro - I don't know, Im weird it just winds me up SOOO much. This is how to do it
What was the Denon amp you heard in Europe that wasn't imported??? I've just bought a used PMA-725R that's definitely more punchy than the similarly priced NADs of the day eg C340
they have a new model pma-600ne / 45 watts at 8 ohms , two speaker output but have an sub out and have bluetooth and the best part is only $399.00 !!! that’s the price that i was waiting for !
Great review as always. Now those large capacitors that you refer to do ultimately have an influence on how much current and how much output power this amp will put out! But those are not output capacitors, they are power supply filter capacitors. Think of them as storage tanks for electrons!
Sadly, I did not. However, I am familiar with the Burr Brown DAC that they use. In short: Much like the sound of the PMA 800 NE, this chipset doesn't give you a whole lot of aural fireworks. What it gives you is a balanced, slightly warm presentation that makes for easy listening.
I have a monster Denon PMA 1080R its fabulous never thought of upgrading it. It has a great Phono stage MM/MC and sounds wonderful with A Denon 103R, rest of my system Ariston RD11S with an Infinity Black widow tonearm with damping through the Denon cart mentioned a fully restored Denon DCD 1420 Cd, and last but not least, Three way DIY open baffles speakers. All components have dedicated power cords and Furutech iec sockets. Speaker cable Transparent the wave 200. Pure Heaven. Did you try the phono stage on the 800ne? Great vid by the way.
Hey Sean, saw this review last night. That is a very interesting piece for $500 from Denon. One thing I did not expect is the ability to shut off the unused inputs such as digital, not for $500. While Denon and Marantz are both under the umbrella of DM Holdings it looks like Denon borrowed from Marantz on that one. My Marantz ND8006 has that feature and more, but it is also about twice the price and it is source as opposed to amp. I can see how easy it would be to recommend that Denon to someone for either a stop over while saving for something on a higher rung or to simply fulfill a need. What is also interesting is the native signature sound difference between the two. I would have thought the Marantz to best the Denon, but it seems the other way around in this case. I am one who prefers a balanced sound. That said, I strongly suspect that as one moves up the Marantz chain it would be a different story with Marantz out-performing Denon. (Two different build philosophies in the upper levels). Of course, then we are talking about products with cost where one would be better served procuring a dealer rather than going through a Best Buy or something. Yes, then there are speakers with some pairing better for one or the other. Yes, ones such as Paradigm and Revel would go well with the Marantz and likely allow to tame the signature sound to balance. I know my Paradigms, which happen to be the Studio 100 V5 would do well, then again, they do well with almost anything! (The discontinued studio line from Paradigm are not tilted, in fact, they are extremely efficient and balanced, not to mention revealing. As for the Monitor line and new more expensive lines….all I can say, is what the heck happened? Talk about tilted)! I digress..
Truth be told, I expected the Denon 800 to be a bust. As in, I'd return the unit with no review kind of a bust. Glad that things didn't go in that direction. It's a good piece!
I have Paradigm dual 8" towers which I've had for some time...but I have found them to be excellent and virtually free of coloration. I am strongly considering the PM6006 to replace my original Sprout, so I am glad you feel that that is a good pairing...but, as you say, the Paradigms (in my case) have worked very nicely with four different amplifiers in the past. I listen almost exclusively to classical...or at least "natural" instruments...so I'm interested in flat frequency response.
@@jbbevan Are you talking about the Paradigm Prestige line? I have not heard those, but I can tell you that the Personas are severely tilted (colored) and the Monitors are tilted as well, but not quite as much, but still noticeable. I run Paradigm Studio 100 v5 and since all speakers do have some color (we can say the same about amps), I can say though that the Studios (discontinued sadly) are very balanced and will play with almost anything. As to synergy, well, that is anyone's guess and is unknown until tried. As for response, it is really the speakers doing most of that work, but a little part is the signal fed from the amp and of course the recording. Tone controls can be your friends in severe situations. I have never had to use tone controls for balanced frequency purposes with my Studios no matter the amp. For a small few recordings though is another story. I listen to everything from Bach to Rock except today's pop, rap, hip hop and what they try top pass off as Country.
Todays date: 9/5/2024 I ran across one of these today and the owner says it’s in mint condition, The outside has no scratches. And wants $220, is that worth it by today’s market used? Supposedly it has a nice built-in DAC that supports 24b/192khz
I appreciate your approach, who is this for, what's typical at the price point.... early Denons had a nice warm sound but lacked a beautiful midrage. It took me years of listening and swapping gear to learn to hear that. There is something attractive about a basic integrated. Maybe less beautiful sound but less expensive and demanding of my time, if that makes sense.
This one, PMA 700AE or Marantz PM 66 KI in terms of sound - together with my Dali Oberon 3 speakers and modded Marantz CD 63 mkii KI Signature CD player. Or are they expected to be both too weak for the KI ? Would not buy a actual Denon because they were sold to a cheapo company. Thanks for your input
I have the older pms-720ae paired with a dad-600ne and the 220. As this reviewer said if you are listening to a good recording on pure analog on the cd side and source direct on the amp side you will be surprised. Great combo. Neutral sound with great mids and highs and adequate bass as we are talking about the 220. Unfortunately there is no sub out unless you are willing to use the subwoofers crossover. In worse productions you will have to play with the tone controls.
Wow thanks for this! Since it is 50 watts per chanel do you think it still can drive a pair of monitor audio MA 5 mk2 that has 85db of sensitivity? I mean it has every feature i need but i still don't know how important the wattage is.
Heard the little brother pma600 on Polk legend l200 and it was great match if you're into the sound. I'm not sure it's for me, but I have klipsch rp600m and rp280f floorstanders that I'm struggling to pair with a Cambridge and a NAD that are possibly too bright for those speakers. The denon would probably fit perfectly in a lot of respects, I just hope I don't give up too much of the separation in the highs that the klipsch can do well.
Hi, beautiful video, analytic review and easy to follow for a common music lover. I would like to ask your opinion, for 500$ what you would u suggest a second hand Rotel RA1520(silver) or brand new denon pm800? (Speakers: b&w 602 s2)...music preference rock metal, mostly. Format vinyl and Cds. Thank you
Hello, long time listener first time commenting... Based on some of your pointers I went with the more updated PM6006, and yeah its a little boosted on the highs. Which begs me to ask if I'm not in the budget to get S300s right away is there a lower cost alternative to help balance out those highs? (No local shops where I live)
3en6ie, Yeah I just tried the B6.2s last night. Although I have no initial complaints (they sounded very nice) but my older KEF C55s did better with bass and imaging.... seems like the S300s might very well have to be my next stop or maybe the Elac UF5 towers.
How would compare/preferred between Cambridge axr100 vs denon pma 800ne? I have focal chora 826 for music listening only! I would highly appreciate your input!
Do you know if there is an USB input? When I checked the specs online for this model it mentioned 1 x USB, but I don't see that here in this review. Any idea?
you get the right speakers for these modest amps & they will suprise you The marantiz I say at a guess will be good for the club tipe " electronic " DENON ? Radio broadcast tipe of sound
Hey very nice review l have a question, just bought pma 800ne yesterday waiting to be delivered and what kind of speakers do l need for that amplifier? Been told that this amp is not that strong and won't drive any speakers. At the moment l have wharfedale xarus 5000 speakers but lm not sure if they going to be good enough.
I have this amp and what I say is you will be hugely rewarded if you can up your budget for speakers. I have the Triangle Titus EZ and this combination sounds amazing but I think lower end Triangles like br02 or br03 would also sound very good.
I have a Onkyo 9070 integrated amp. I Never heard you talk about Onkyo. I remember you once saying that you do not review products that are not sent to you but i'm curious of what you think of that product line. In your line of business you must've heard a couple of Onkyo amp's and made an opinion on them to yourself so what is your thought on them.
I used to be SUPER familiar with Onkyo products back in the day. Sadly, it's been awhile since I last spent time with an Oinker. I heard that the sound has changed in recent years, and from what I gather, that's a good thing. Hopefully I'll have a chance to work with em' at some point in the future.
John W. Graovac : For the past three years I have ONKYO a-9050 , all I can say it is fantastic ! If ever stop working, I want my next amp. to be an a-9070 . Please tell us how do you like your a-9070 ?
I like it a lot I use it about six hours every other day. I bought the 9070 because I listen to a lot of vinyl. It is replacing my Tandberg 3012 which after 40 years finally gave up on me.
There is different connectivity (800 lacks sub output, but has USB input for digital audio). 800 has a bit higher power per channel - otherwise amp is the same. However, 600 amp can feed really can easily feed really hunger speakers. Its also about current. I preferred 600 because of direct sub output: sub Dynavoice Challenger Sub 8. I am extremely happy with elac debut b6.2 with PMA600 and Dynavoice. The Sub is sealed, not agressive thunder bass, more musical and easier to place in a small room.
I thought Denon was almost finished, they almost went belly up with all the surround sound crap a few years back and the 2 channel stuff was practically banned in the U.S.
“Let’s be Honest here” 😂😂 I hope so... Great thoughts as usual.. Thanks,, love my Denon 5803 & oldie but goody DVD 955 (2950),, especially when the 955 is hooked up to Ray Samuels Raptor & HD 800’s.. The WoW factor 👍 Best2You...
Where is it made? And is anything on the face of it made of plastic and feel like it's going to break off when you touch it? Does it have tape inputs? Does it have loop through for a graphic equaliser? Hifi was meant to colour the sound, if it wasn't then all systems would sound the same and we both know that they don't.

I have used Denon AVR's for years, and have always had a great experience with them. Thanks for this video, and have a great one man!
Thanks for sharing.
I like Denon products, great natural sound and always give good fight to competitors.
@Bumble Bee Less birght and warm than others.
@Bumble Bee Enjoy music men :~D
thank sean for explaining. are you referring to the Vista Spark more simple purpose built audiophile solution - for the clarity and openness?
@@ZeroFidelity True, everyone can believe in what they want, but that doesn't mean some people won't critisize. Awesome review! The thing you talked about pure mode and poor recordings is what I also have experienced with my Onkyo A9030 amplifier.
Your channel deserves more attentions, more views and more subscribers.👍
Hi Zero, do you think this Denon 50watts is enough for a Mission LX 3 floorstander?
I have no intention of buying this amp but whoa, I have to thank you Z for introducing me to Ten Towers, the music of the intro. Great guitar piece!!
I can confirm.. I own Denon PMA-720ae and its a great one. Sound is very balanced and natural comparing to the others.
I have seen one of these units on sale and I must admit, I’m very tempted to go and give it a listen.
Great amplifier. Together with DALI loudspeakers a great combo.
The 720AE was a great amp. It had a loudness button. The current 800 does not.
@@dm95422 loudness button is a big NO, it causes midrange bump @65% vol setting
@@dm95422 I have Denon PMA-720AE since over 2 years. I love it! It's my best amplifier, but I has so much more expensive. Denon is amazing, I love this amp. Probably I change it for 800NE. It's good idea?
I have 720AE it's more power than marantz even though same wattage the 9:00 o'clock volume of 720AE is equivalent to 12:00 o'clock on marantz..
@@dm95422 Good amplifiers don't need or use loudness buttons.
nice amp. it's good to see the wattage compared to some of the lower offerings in integrated amps being released in N.A. these days. seems like all the MFGs are omitting line out, pre out or sub out on most equipment..
Couldn't you use the audio out as a sub out?
@@murderouskillah9879 No volume control on the audio out.......
This paired good with my infinity sl-50. Very happy with purchase.
Had the 1600ne and it matched very well with the Totem Hawks. A+ combination. It really matches well with the speakers compared to my Hegel H160.
I have found that too, Denon being probably one of the easiest brands to match with anything.
The matching streamer dac looks like a steal too. classic BB dac and decent price
Carl Deaker - I'm thinking about picking up the 600ne; the price is fantastic and functionality is enough for me
replaced Onkyo Integra M504 and P304 that were starting to age. Deftech Studiomonitor 350s and Energy C2s with a deftech sub, and I am blown away. It punches above its weight and sounds great.
Run it off of 240 volts 60HZ if it is switchable
from 120 volts 60 HZ.
If you heard that on 250 50 hz overseas in like
say France.
240 volts 60 HZ wakes things up big time.
Some are only switchable inside.
Depends on brand and models
Hope you review the Denon PMA-A110 amp
. Thanks
Great review brother I paired it with 8000f sounds great for a newbie audiophile like myself
Peace yo.
Hey man. I'm glad you're digging on the HINT 6! :D Can't wait for you to pair it up to those S400s. :)
Which speaker sounds better with this amp?
Three digital inputs. Sounds like my kind of amp!
I would love to know how this stacks up against the highly regarded Maratntz PM6006
You know, I'd be down to try the 6006 if Marantz is down to send one my way.
@@ZeroFidelity That will be very interesting, because i own the PM5005, so it will also be interesting to hear the difference between the pm5005 and the PM6006. An Italian reviewer did a comparison between then PM5005 & the PM6006, and he said that tonally, they were very, very similar. Would love to know if your findings will also be the same..

rowan 3 “highly regarded” lol! Lol!
I wish Denon would import its bigger amps to the U.S. Such as the PMA-2500NE and up.
That unit reminds me of my first small Arcam integrated amp. Love it. Great entry level!
I went audio shopping with a friend of mine who wanted something nice, but not blow the bank.. We settled on this amp's less featured sibling (same power stage sans the digital input) with the Klipsch RP-600M.. Tbh I didn't know you could get that good a sound for the money.. Great review!
Which one?
@@clapped_globe2368 it was the Denon PMA-520AE iirc
There is sub out. Speakers B. Subs sound better with high powered input.
this is a really good point-speakers B works well with subs
I use the headphone jack .

After all the favorable reviews I've ordered this. Should be arriving 22 settember.I'll give my review after the "warmup" period.
So far how do you like the amp?
Wonder if this amp will sound good on a pair of Definitive Technology Demand 9 bookshelf speakers? Thanks for the review!
How does it compare to the iotavx integrated amplifier?

Denon ....nice brand .
Could you do a review of the Denon PMA-1600NE when they send one your way...thanks.

Could you review the new Denon DRA-800H receiver to see how it stacks up to the Denon PMA800NE integrated amp.
Yes be so kind to do so, and i really want to know how god the Dac is as well as the headamp !
Thank you so much for your vídeos. Now I’m in the market for a new amp which one will you say is a better buy the Denon or Yamaha s501?
Denon PMA-800NE will be better than Yamaha in my opinion. But Yamaha is great to, I have it.
I see (from the shadows on the wall) you move your hands even when the camera is not set on you lol Thank you for your review.
Lawl. I noticed that as well. :)
Thanks for this. Would love your take Dennon's high-end PMA-SX11.
One of the important questions I would want to know about the amplifier comparison is how to they image in respect to each other? Transparency? Tonal characteristics are definitely important, but the comparison is just a bit of an incomplete picture.
I'd be interested in a comparison against an Audiolab 6000A.
Can you review the Onkyo A-9150?
@Vital Vaitkun Hi I own the Onkyo 9150 integrated amplifier and found what you said very interesting. I currently have monitor audio bronze 2 speakers and I find them a little bright with most content so I'm looking for an upgrade, do you think the focal chora 806 would be a good choice?
Excellent review!
I have an old Denon PMA amp and still love it. I recently added ELAC Debut 6.2 and am running A+B with my old JBL's which are both 6 Ohm. Sounds great but not the 8 ohm + as you recommended. Am I flirting with damage??
So long as you aren't taking the volume *too* high while powering all of the speakers, you should be fine.
I have one of this. Very nice amplifier
Yes, it is a very good amp.
Music on vinyl is better. Can you add a sud this amp
Great review as always. Now those large capacitors that you refer to do ultimately have an influence on how much current and how much output power this amp will put out! But those are not output capacitors, they are power supply filter capacitors. Think of them as storage tanks for electrons!
The model below is 400 USD and is very good
Great review! Did you have anytime to assess the quality of the digital portion this amp?
Sadly, I did not. However, I am familiar with the Burr Brown DAC that they use. In short: Much like the sound of the PMA 800 NE, this chipset doesn't give you a whole lot of aural fireworks. What it gives you is a balanced, slightly warm presentation that makes for easy listening.
Great video ! Yamaha receiver RS700 ? Came out a few years ago. Any opinion on this one ?
@@ericelliott227 Yes, the Studio Line (straight up towers...no tilt). I've had them about 20 years...but no sign of fatigue.
Which sound better, receiver or integrated amplifier?
I rock the 600ne an think it's fine turned 30per an it's loud an clear
Of the Denon and Marantz integrateds you compared at the end, which would you recommend for a pair of Wharfedale Diamond 220 loudspeakers?
I have the older pms-720ae paired with a dad-600ne and the 220. As this reviewer said if you are listening to a good recording on pure analog on the cd side and source direct on the amp side you will be surprised. Great combo. Neutral sound with great mids and highs and adequate bass as we are talking about the 220. Unfortunately there is no sub out unless you are willing to use the subwoofers crossover. In worse productions you will have to play with the tone controls.
Thx for the review. Looks like a good little unit but no ethernet jack = deal breaker for me.
Wow thanks for this! Since it is 50 watts per chanel do you think it still can drive a pair of monitor audio MA 5 mk2 that has 85db of sensitivity? I mean it has every feature i need but i still don't know how important the wattage is.
Yes ...no problem 🙂
HOW WOULD YOU COMPARE THIS ONE WITH THE MARANTZ 8006????
the question that comes to my mind is how much better or is it worth the jump from the 600, it's twice the price, right?

I love this but the lack of Pre-out / Sub-out is an absolute deal breaker.
No you simply connect the sub to the speaker terminals. He really should have stated this......
@@steven2809 I understand that. I needed line outs not speaker level.

DENON ?
Hi I've got the 600 it fabulous for the money Evo 44s and reloop RP 7000mk2 with a shibater stylus
I have B&W 607 S2 Anniversary and I’m considering to pair them with either the Denon PMA-600ne or the 800ne. Which do you think would work best?
So, very generally speaking, is this on par with the muscularity of NAD or Cambridge Audio?
If not a slight cut above.
Good evening from greece to all of you. To which marantz does this amplifier compare to? Is it Better than 5005 from marantz? Sorry for a silly question
