The great thing about these "budget" integrated amps is that they allow people to get into this hobby without a major investment (and are a cut above the "cheap" Chinese class D amps that are everywhere on UA-cam). You can put together a great sounding, expandable system for not much more than $1500 (used to be $1000 before all the inflation of the last two years). It is these budget amps and speakers like the ELAC, Polk Audio, Wharfedale Diamond, and JBL selling for under $600, and then adding a source like a cheap streamer (even the WiiM Mini or Pro) and just enjoying the music that will keep this hobby alive by getting newbies hooked. Good review.

Hi Tharbamar, great review. I have this amp and I love it. I am using it with Polk R600 speakers. But I have a question. What coaxial cable are you using? I don't see it listed in your associated equipment list. Is that the coaxial cable that looks like it has another small cable attached to it? Thanks.

Yes it could meaningfully for up to 75-80 db range but Amp will fall off after that level of loudness in control, JBL Studio 530 is about same sensitivity as magnepan lrs+. Thanks
I come back to this review because it is very hard to create an amplifier or any audio component that sounds good and is also cheap. I would love to know from you or any other follower of this or other channels how this compares with NAD C316BEE! Maybe I will have to buy both amplifiers and a few more like Rotel A11 Tribute and Atoll IN 50 signature to see which one is more performant from my point of view. I would appreciate any insights from you guys! P.S. I have a Micromega A60 and a NAD 3020 but I would love to hear some new cheap amplifiers (not class D). Thanks!
Thank you for the fantastic review,,, Marantz pm 6007 wish you could do a review on that one too,,,,they are similar but the marantz dosent have bluetooth and pairs 2 set of speakrs Thanks a ton for your effort and hardwork for all the reviews
I’m currently deciding between the Marantz PM6007 and this Denon, both about £350 in the UK right now, there’s also the Yamaha A-S301 and Yamaha A-S501 to consider. There’s a series of UA-cam videos analysing the Yamaha in detail, praising the quality of the parts. The Denon and Marantz actually look quite different internally judging by other UA-cam videos, and people are implying they sound quite different too. I’d also like to know how the matching Denon and Marantz CD players compare - Marantz CD6007 and Denon DCD-600NE. Keep up the good videos!
@@TheKineticworx I have the Marantz PM6007 and the Denon 600NE. My ears are 73 years old and it can be difficult to tell the difference between amps. But in my opinion, if you can be ok with the Denon's "captive" power cord I would go with it. It's a tremendous value for the money.
Sometimes when I’m not liking the sound with my standard speaker cables, I do switch speaker cables around to find the best synergy of the components that I’m going to review, Belden 9497 is not the most high resolution cable especially for the low notes but I found they sound their best at double runs so each side is 4 wires, that’s what I use not in standard 2 cables configuration. If you try it you might find them to be more engaging in your system, thanks
@@Tharbamar I am currently using SMSL A300 for my Oberon 3 and looking for a bigger upgrade in sound quality. Just wondering if Denon PMA600NE will be that big upgrade or should I go for other amp that you can recomend? Hi Tharbamar. Have you had the opportunity to check the new PMA-3000NE? I'm considering it for my next purchase, but there aren't many reviews out there and I'd like to hear your opinion of it, a review would be excellent! I really like your videos. Thanks!
Thanks for the review, its very nice. Recently I bought PMA600-NE and paired with JBL Stage A130 speakers. Playing from my laptop using RCA cable (24bit 44000 quality audio) Sound is nice nut I'm missing highs! How can I fix that? Can I add another pair of Stage A120 speakers with this AMP? Please guide. Thanks
Thanks, try with Optical input if you can from your computer, adding another pair of speaker to same terminal is not a good idea it may harm your components.
Not a bad amp but for not much more you can find a nice used PMA-2000R. Although you may have to replace the caps on those soon. I love the Denon sound. Went from PMA-2000 to PMA-110 to PMA-100. Will keep my PMA-100 forever.
Thanks for reviewing this! I was torn between this amp a Cambridge AXR85 and the DRA-800H. Ended up going with the 800H which piicked up for $400 mainly because of the network ability with HEOS. Do you think this has a sound advantage over the 800H? Still very new to this audio journey! Thank you again! I really enjoy your content!! 👍👍

Hello, I want to ask about you mentioning that Denon PMA-600NE is better than Audiolab 6000A. I want to know what are the points of Denon's superiority over Audiolab, and what are the points of Audiolab's superiority over Denon. I currently have a 6000A and I use it with my B&W 607 s2 speaker.
Hi, It is mostly based on price to performance, especially low level listening because that is hard to do for the amps in 500USD price range, sound is always subjective but when I was trying 6000A for review I decided not to because priced too high for what it is, I liked toroidal transformer and pre mode etc but it's do not worth double the price IMHO, thanks
So this is my first impression: Sound is missing midrange. It does not have the full body to the sound, I'm trying to tweak with the tone control. Guessing I have to dial bass all the way down in order to boost the rest of the frequency range. When used for movies the situation is worse, dialogues are low and far away. I don't know if this is the amp problem or speaker problem?
After some days playing around with the speakers it now sounds much better. The JBL Studio 620 likes to be placed nearer to the wall, and still can get loud with the PMA600NE
what do you think is a better buy? Denon PMA-600NE at $499 or Yamaha as501 at $549? Will be hooked up to my computer threw optical and also hooked to a old teac dvd player. I have JBL 530s that I plan to use with a svs sb1000 subwoofer.
I would say 501 for balanced sound but if you prefer a bit warmer sound 600NE but I would also to try Denon DRA-800H for more features and more power. amzn.to/3PilGYC
i hate playing with sound , there are so many options to play with , it makes my mind spin but after a few decades you start to see what they have done with all the different systems it's a ''pay to win'' hobby , but ... now ... i can setup a 10 dollar soundbar to sound perfectly fine for the room it's in , let 60 dollar 2.1 speakers sound like 200-300 dollar ones i now use FREE vst host program with FREE drives , EQ's , amps , reverb , space , surround , anything you want ... for free , when i now put on some music on 60 dollar 2.1 speakers , they sound like my 500 dollar system just a little drive and some reverb will bring the artist To You , instead of listening to a song you just downloaded
Looks like an engineering disaster with that extra piece for the lid and the 4 stand-offs. This is also seen on the next model up. You would think they would fix the problem and remake the lid so it doesn’t look so goofy. I guess not. I will be looking at other amps.
"High current", is literally a marketing term, nothing more. It can also mean, "Ohh out power supply is low voltage" and that is why we cannot drive 8Ohms into the same 70Watts that we do with 4Ohms. All output transistors are 25 amperes capable, well so what?, they will never be used in that way, the circuit is not able to. Only means that they might survive a dead short until the fuse blows. they do 17Ampers into 4ohm short term. An ugly Professional amp that can easily do 1000 real watts, will cost you far less than the fancy aluminum shiny consumer grade Denon.
Too boomy bass and distortion can hear, like a van bass.. unless you like the brand more than quality. For me, you can buy a new Fosi Audio BT20A Pro (rolling op amp)+ Topping E50 you will get the sound quality and a price much much better than Denon pma-600ne 😂 seriously .. too hard to drive your 4 ohm K1 Tharbamar
I would like to ask How do you listen? distortion? Everyone is different, for me Fosi or most budget Class D Amps don't have equal sound quality to good ol budget Class AB amps, I have 500 watts iCE Power Class D monoblocks while I like them but never really enjoy them in the long run, so basically you'll not know while you don't know but you pretend to know, thanks for the comment.
@@Tharbamar I made speakers 2,3 ways, full-range and OB , crossover and measure speakers 😀 I do listen from class a, ab and d and tube amp 300B .. don’t be just upset from what I’m saying .. From technical point of view. Denon is 70W per vs 300w/per fosi with good PSU. Denon’s distortion is 0.7% vs 0.03% from fosi .. you also equip with topping e50 ( one of your recommended budget dac). From financial point of view, it’s much cheaper than Denon Pma 600ne. From listening quality point of view.. this is much worst record than many of your clips I heard with same headphone I used to .. some of part was harsh and distorted. The Fosi is good once you replace the op-amp chips, the sound is much improve. I don’t need to pretend I know somethings but I do give you the suggestion with my point of view because I like your channel as well.
@Steven Connecting Together, Fosi offer(s) to review their amps so I tried them they're ok for what it is but not something special to recommend my viewers so I don't review any of them, I would rather offer something that lasts and keep the value of it so to each of own, thanks
@@Tharbamar I don’t have my Pma600ne anymore since I returned it in 2021, bought from Amazon for driving my 4ohm speakers. it was due to pushing so hard and not quite nice once the volume cranked it up to 85-90db, the bass was starting to lose it control and I measured it by OmniMic microphone at 1m distance. In contrast, I don’t have that experience with the new recent Fosi after rolling the op amp I like. I did have the Sabaj mono like yours as well and agree with you that some of the class D cant be match with other classes, except few amplifiers that you can rolling chipset, the door open for us to tune the sound we like. Sounding is a subjective topic, I hope you can open mind more and have many great reviews. Thanks for reply me ! 😀 Have a great day
Not to be critical, but what do you mean by better? Better for who, better how, better in what way? Trust me when I say I've been doing this a long time, and I've had basically every brand under the Sun with few exceptions, and in all my time doing this and with all the gear I've had my one piece of advice I always give somebody is nothing really sounds better, it just sounds different. You stick 100 people in front of the Yamaha then take and stick them in front of the Denon and there won't be a unanimous decision that the Yamaha sounds better, some people will prefer the sound of the Denon and some people will prefer the sound of the Yamaha. Of course not to take away from the wonderful qualities of Yamaha amplifiers, the as301 and the 701 and even the newer r series receivers like the Rn800A, which All of them I've heard, sound fabulous and the sound quality only gets better the more money you spend.
I completely understand your comment. I gave a plus to the Yamaha, for that reason, having owned both brands. So, according to my own experience. Some people prefer Denon, that goes without saying. In my experience, the Yamaha is quite more reliable, has a sound that suits me better (again, personal opinion), and in the same class is somewhat more affordable, as far as the price of the device is concerned. I appreciate your comment, sure. I don't dispute at all that you are right.
@@Tharbamar As far as sound quality goes, Hypex Ncore NC122MP or NC252MP, these modules are the absolute bargain of the century considering their price/performance ratio. That is, if you only need amplification and nothing else, sure the Denon has a DAC, Bluetooth, etc, which are nice, but for listening to music the amplifier performance should be top priority.
@@Tharbamar When I heard it I thought it would be £600.00 plus, when they told me the price I was astonished. Just checked Amazon and it £350.00 today. I think the look of it is a bit marmite, you will either love it or think it's a bit old school (personally I think it looks fine). But your so right when you say that it sounds sooooo much more powerful than the specs, and puts other higher wattage amps to shame and it no way sounds like the price. Almost a bit like the old NAD amps of the mid 80's/90's sounding bigger than the specs suggested.
@@kevinsheppard6085Why not buy an old Arcam, Musical Fidelity or Creek amp from the 90s or 2000s!? These are the real bargains. NAD, Marantz, Yamaha, Sansui and Luxman are overrated and creeping up in price on the used market and don’t seem to be worth it. I can’t stop admiring my Creek 4240. I got it for 130€ and the seller was struggling to find a buyer. Even Fosi Audio or Aiyima can’t compete with that.

Great timing! Found your channel last week, this is one of the amps I have been looking at for a small, affordable system.
Thank you for your reviews!
Glad to help!
Sounds great to me. I was a bit confused with the Eva Cassidy on the wall but you played Evie Sands.
Hi Tharbamar, great review. I have this amp and I love it. I am using it with Polk R600 speakers. But I have a question. What coaxial cable are you using? I don't see it listed in your associated equipment list. Is that the coaxial cable that looks like it has another small cable attached to it? Thanks.
Hi, I’m using Audio-Technica Art link cable bought in Japan. Thanks
Thanks mate I like your revies
I had this one and sold it
It made everything with more weight to it. It wasn't as transparent as i hoped.
I guess im more of a Rotel and Marantz guy.
Thanks for the video '
I want to try the 1700 badly '
Love the dual main transformers '
Of 1700' But 600 got an amazing pricepoint '
Me you and Zeos can't let our 530s go lol with the right amp anf room they can be very very good ' maybe we should mod the 530s? Upgrade crossover componetes ?
Another great review!!Do you have in mind to review another Quad's speakers??Z1 or 2??? thanks
No Quad speakers at this moment, thank you
Great 'sound samples' with review ! wow , ...
How does this compare to the IOTA SA3 integtated amp?
Steve guttenberg mentioned that this denon model can drive a magnepan lrs+ because of its high current capability?
Yes it could meaningfully for up to 75-80 db range but Amp will fall off after that level of loudness in control, JBL Studio 530 is about same sensitivity as magnepan lrs+. Thanks
Sound quality seems similar to the marantz pm6006 (judging from the video sound sample) and this is good. Maybe the designs are similar, who knows ..
Would love you to test the Denon PMA 1700-NE. Lot more power.
I will when I have chance, thanks
I come back to this review because it is very hard to create an amplifier or any audio component that sounds good and is also cheap. I would love to know from you or any other follower of this or other channels how this compares with NAD C316BEE! Maybe I will have to buy both amplifiers and a few more like Rotel A11 Tribute and Atoll IN 50 signature to see which one is more performant from my point of view. I would appreciate any insights from you guys! P.S. I have a Micromega A60 and a NAD 3020 but I would love to hear some new cheap amplifiers (not class D). Thanks!
This is a pretty good sounding solid choice for the price and Atoll IN50 is another great option in different price point in your list, thanks
I'd like to see a comparison between your Accuphase and an equivalent integrated Luxman integrated amp.
May be one day, thanks
Thank you for the fantastic review,,,
Marantz pm 6007 wish you could do a review on that one too,,,,they are similar but the marantz dosent have bluetooth and pairs 2 set of speakrs
Thanks a ton for your effort and hardwork for all the reviews
Thanks I will do when I have chance.
I'm curious about those speaker cables. I have Canare 4s11, and was interested when you switched to Mogami. Now I see Belden.
How does this amplifier differ from the SX-11 or PMA A110 model
Very different in everything, as always you got what you pay for.,
No home theater pass through??
marantz pm6007 has something similar on the top of the amp
Great review 👍 Do you think this amp will pair well with Dali Oberon 3?
Yes, definitely because that what they're design with.
@@Tharbamar thanx for the info
@@Tharbamar I am currently using SMSL A300 for my Oberon 3 and looking for a bigger upgrade in sound quality. Just wondering if Denon PMA600NE will be that big upgrade or should I go for other amp that you can recomend? Also I like to connect with subwoofer, do you have any subwoofer that u could recommend as well? Thanx in advance.
Thank you for this review❤
You are welcome!
Hi Tharbamar. Have you had the opportunity to check the new PMA-3000NE? I'm considering it for my next purchase, but there aren't many reviews out there and I'd like to hear your opinion of it, a review would be excellent! I really like your videos. Thanks!
Not yet! I will do when I get a chance, thanks
Il sonne plutôt bien pour un petit amplificateur
Come on! Sound of any smartphone is better
Hi, 600NE should not have major advantage in sound, 600NE is just traditional stereo amp, thanks
Better than the Audiolab 6000A? In which way?
S.m.s.l A300 amplifier review please
Would the 600ne suit my wharfdale lintons any one out their with a view Thanks
Not enough power to bring the best out of your speakers.
@Tharbamar thanks for replying I love your reviews would the yamaha 301 or perhaps 501 or rotel RA 10 mk 2 be a better buy
Thinking about getting the 800 version -- used -- for almost the same price as this new (around €400)
The PMA-800ne not available new here in the EU atm
Hi ! Do you think Denon PMA 600NE would pair well with Dali Zensor 3 speakers ?
Definitely that’s what Denon uses to demo them.
Thanks !
Do you think this would be good with a sub and a pair of klipsch rp-500m?
Definitely, it will pair nicely.
@@Tharbamar enough power at 8ohm? I think its like 45 watts. I was thinking getting to 90 db without distortion
@@ZermonBlitz klipsch don't require a lot of power to drive, I have the rp600m II and this amp, it pairs well. Klipsch horn tweeters are pretty bright, the denon amp settles them down
Did you find it a bit bright?
Not with my speakers.
@@Tharbamar hey
Thank you for your reply
May i ask what speakers do you run with the Denon?
What speakers are they?
Would you pair it with Gustard A26? will much quality be lost? Listening to vocals, classical, jazz music. Trying to find lower price amp. Thanks.
I would suggest something like used late model Denon PMA2000 series to pair them, thanks
@@Tharbamar thanks for your answer. Anything around $600-700?
That is a great tune.
Please test the JBL JA 750 Retro Class G
Would this be just as good as the Yamaha 801
Will the Denon PMA600NE be able to drive the JBL 630/620 which are 6 ohms and sensitivity of 84 db?
Yes it should be okay up if you don’t play it very loud.
@@Tharbamar Thanks, I've ordered the Denon PMA600NE and the JBL Studio 620, hope they are a good pair, will share result late
The JBL Studio 620 likes to be placed nearer to the wall, and still can get loud with the PMA600NE
can someone compare it with Harman/Kardon AVR156 or a similar AVR? I am thinking of swapping my AVR156 with this
what do you think is a better buy? Denon PMA-600NE at $499 or Yamaha as501 at $549? Will be hooked up to my computer threw optical and also hooked to a old teac dvd player. I have JBL 530s that I plan to use with a svs sb1000 subwoofer.
I would say 501 for balanced sound but if you prefer a bit warmer sound 600NE but I would also to try Denon DRA-800H for more features and more power.

やっぱり、スピーカーが良くないからでしょうね。
i hate playing with sound ,
there are so many options to play with , it makes my mind spin
but after a few decades you start to see what they have done with all the different systems
it's a ''pay to win'' hobby , but ... now ...
i can setup a 10 dollar soundbar to sound perfectly fine for the room it's in ,
let 60 dollar 2.1 speakers sound like 200-300 dollar ones
i now use FREE vst host program with FREE drives , EQ's , amps , reverb , space , surround ,
anything you want ... for free ,
when i now put on some music on 60 dollar 2.1 speakers , they sound like my 500 dollar system
just a little drive and some reverb will bring the artist To You , instead of listening to a song you just downloaded
Looks like an engineering disaster with that extra piece for the lid and the 4 stand-offs. This is also seen on the next model up. You would think they would fix the problem and remake the lid so it doesn’t look so goofy. I guess not. I will be looking at other amps.
Not A+B Bi Amping ☹☹☹🎼🎶🎵🎶
"High current", is literally a marketing term, nothing more.
It can also mean, "Ohh out power supply is low voltage" and that is why we cannot drive 8Ohms into the same 70Watts that we do with 4Ohms.
All output transistors are 25 amperes capable, well so what?, they will never be used in that way,
the circuit is not able to. Only means that they might survive a dead short until the fuse blows. they do 17Ampers into 4ohm short term.
An ugly Professional amp that can easily do 1000 real watts, will cost you far less than the fancy aluminum shiny consumer grade Denon.
Right, real watts are good 👍
သီချင်းဆိုလို့ရလားဗျ
you dont even open it up? are you serious?
Sounding is a subjective topic,
I hope you can open mind more and have many great reviews. Thanks for reply me ! 😀 Have a great day
Yamaha amplifiers have better sound.
This device worth $500, of which $200 is the design and box. Come on, stop rubbing nonsense on us, it's complete rubbish of sound and quality!
None sense? Please suggest something better for same price.
Have you ever listen to the unit ? If so can you care to explain. How does it sound and why do you disagree
Even Fosi Audio or Aiyima can’t compete with that.
please tell me it's worth comparing this amplifier DENON PMA-600NE vs SMSL AO300? which one will give the best sound?
