  • Here is a small demo of the Prophet Rev 2 16 voice that I recently purchase. I love this synth a lot. Huge improvement over the Prophet 08 I had for some time. Some patches were accented with the H9 from eventide, and Big Sky from Strymon. Modern worship sounds using synths.

    Yes, that certainly does sound amazing. Love the sound of the REV2... it can be lush, brassy, ballsy, ethereal and everything in between.

      I love the Prophet 08, that was my first real analog synth, and It was amazing. I made the upgrade just because of the 16 voices. It was worth it for me::)

    Im in 2 minds at the moment... Do i go the prophet 6 or the Rev2??? I heard there's some problems with the Rev2, Are u experiencing any issues with ur Rev2?

    • @leiruagetro
      @leiruagetro  6 років тому +2

      Hey! I have not experienced any major issues with my Rev2. Only thing I experienced was a squeaky key, however, the DSI guys helped me fix this by myself by swapping the C key with another C an octave below. All it needed was some grease and swapping the key let the factory grease lubricate the keys. Other than that just a few typical DSI wobbly knobs. The Prophet 6 is a beast and I almost got it, but went with the OB6 instead. I like the ability to use two layers on the Rev 2 and it’s still my go to synth for everything

      Thanks for the heads up bro... Good to know & really appreciate ur honest feedback... but u've just made my decision harder lol
      I was leaning towards the Pro6 when I stumbled across ur vid & honestly sounds exactly what I'd love to have as I make more progressive house/electronic with melodic 80's analogue synth vibes & what ur playing here sounds fukin awesome man... seriously inspired me to say the least!

    I am thinking of getting the 08 or the 16 (rev2). Love your sounds in this video. If i get the 08: will there be a great difference between the sound of a 16? I can play keys but the basic of chords. Originally i play guitar. I write songs in DAW and maybe thinking of going live with it, but that is future. Thanks!

    • @leiruagetro
      @leiruagetro  6 років тому

      8 voices is quite a bit actually. You will be able to play many chords. The only issue is that when you split and stack you’ll get 4 and 4 voices, however you can always upgrade it later with the expansion. Voice chip

    Fantastic demo, thanks! Still have doubts between the Rev2, Peak and the Deepmind12. I'm slightly in favor of the Rev2 after your demo :-)

    • @leiruagetro
      @leiruagetro  6 років тому +1

      Thank you! I also have the peak, check out some of the demos I've done. For me, the Rev 2 is the ultimate performance synth, and I enjoy playing it live every week. The peak is my designing synth, the 3 oscillators are fantastic when designing sounds, and the ability to stack all the effects is fantastic. The Rev only allows one effect per layer, but I prefer to use external effects anyway.
      Deepmind, I haven't had the pleasure of using. My buddy has a prophet 12, and a deep mind and he is a professional sound designer so he knows to get deep into the deep mind, he plays it quite a bit, even more than his prophet, however I am confident that my prophet will outlive both those, the peak is built like a tank, solid knobs and very heavy, but the finish on the prophet is much better, so it doesn't chip easily. You'll be happy with either I think, the deep mind just has very bland stock presets.

    • @VictorRoysynth
      @VictorRoysynth 6 років тому +1

      Great analysis and thanks for the advices! Rev2 (specially 16-voices) is like having 2 synths, right? + has 2 different outputs and bi-timbral, that's something appealing. Effects-wise I believe Deepmind12 is the best out of those 3 but menu driving -even limited- I'd like to avoid + I intend to use the effects from my DAW. Peak appears versatile and 3 oscillators and all but, IMHO, sound-wise is not as warm and thick as the Rev2. I already got a good collection of synths Moogs: Sub37, 2xMother-32, Minitaur and a Korg Kronos and I NEED :D an analog polysynth. Thing is I love the more-retro oriented sound of the Rev2; It totally fits within my music style but my main concern is that I'm not 100% sure the Rev2 is capable of doing in addition more "modern" music. Decisions...

    • @leiruagetro
      @leiruagetro  6 років тому +1

      In that case go for the REv2, it is amazing. Also yes it is like 2 synths, you can use 4 stereo outputs, 1,2 for part A, and 3,4 for Part B. you can then run separate external effects per layer. This is amazing if you ask me. Also, if you get the 16 voice synth, you get 8 voices per layer

    Wow I didn't know how good was the sound of Prophet Rev 216. If you have to choose between Prophet Rev and Novation Peak which one would you choose and why? I'm interested on buying Peak but I don't know if it worth to save a little bit more for Prophet Rev. Thank you.

    • @leiruagetro
      @leiruagetro  6 років тому

      If you are looking for a performance synth, I would definitely go for the Rev 2, if not, I thing the Peak is such a fantastic synth for sound design and recording. It's such a versatile synth. The Rev 2 is only worth it if you get the 16 voice. Also the peak has the upper hand with the digital wave tables and the 3 oscillators, however the rev 2 has such a fantastic retro sound that can do much. Also peak is built like a tank

    • @leiruagetro
      @leiruagetro  6 років тому +1

      Also what I love about the peak is that you can stack all the effects. Rev 2 you can only do 1 per layer, however the effects are top quality, almost eventide quality

    • @LuisHouses

      Thanks for the info, it was very useful. I will stay with peak.

    • @daveother
      @daveother 6 років тому +2

      Very much agree! If you need powerful retro, choose a Rev2 or OB6, modern and flexible, Peak all day.
      I have to say that I'm impressed that Novation has brought themselves to the top level of synth manufacturers. Their customer service model is fantastic.
      Love that we live in a world where so many sonic possibilities lie before us.

      I got the 8 voice and I am not disappointed at all. Once in a while I run out of polyphony but then I work around it, so no problem here, just be creative. If I want, I can get the expansion board.
      Con: The only thing that I don't like is the step sequencer. No real time recording, no overdub, no editing, just there to put in some small ideas I think. Love the one on the Pro 2.
      You loose some low end on the sine wave
      Pro: Keyboard feels great and you get a lot of modulation routings.
      Everything you need is laid out on the board, so no big menu diving.
      Like Uriel said it is a great performance synth!

    What`s your opinion when it comes to compare the Rev2 and the Peak ?

    • @leiruagetro
      @leiruagetro  6 років тому +2

      So far after spending a couple months with the peak, I see that the prophet sounds much warmer than the peak. The prophet is a perfect synth for those retro sounds. The peak has the advantage in the huge bass sounds, because notes in the lower registers are well defined, and not muddy like some synths, This is because it's based on the novation bass station. The advantage the peak has is that it has 3 oscillators, and the ability to stack effects which on the rev 2, only one effects per layer is possible. Both have very impressive mod matrix, however I like how easy it is to assign destination and source on the Rev2. For me, the peak is the ultimate designing synth for modern synths, but it does cover a lot of old school synths well, and the digital wavetables make it even more versatile, however the rev 2 with 16 voices, is the ultimate performance synth for me, it's basically 2 synths in one, as you can run layer a using 2 outputs, and layer b using the two other outputs, so you can route separate effects for both. The finish on the rev 2, will take daily use on the road well, while the peak has a finish that can chip easily. I really enjoy both, but use the peak at home and rev 2 on the road and for performing.
