    You can record the Gear VR screen within the headset. Just hold the back button to enable the menu, go into settings or utilities and select record video.

    OMG THANK YOU!
    Anyway I have had few fails during this preparation.
    - Had to download android SDK to access ADB devices command
    - Had to turn on development settings on my android phone and allow USB debugging in order to show the device in list of devices
    - Had to download JDK in order to build and run the App
    - Had to disable Grandle build setting and turn on Internal setting in Publishing settings in Unity and in Build settings
    But it works! First time it works! It took me like 2 hours to find solution to all of these problems I faced but these were mostly just my unexperience.

    Thanks for the nice tutorial! I started working with GearVR about 1-2 months ago and couldn't find any tutorials that were up to date, so thank you for this. Even though I might not need it any more, I'll make sure to recommend this to my friends when they start experimenting with VR!

      Glad you found it :) I am still doing things with it, so I am sure there will be more advanced videos coming out for it. Right now I am absorbed with the HoloLens :)

    Thanks for this video. Its helped me today so much, you would not believe. All I can say is I am
    never going to use the latest version of unity again for development, spent 6 hrs yesterday with
    the android sdk compatibility error and this morning with Samsung S6 device ID app not giving
    me the correct ID. This version of unity works just fine for me. Thanks to you I have created my
    first VR app for GearVR. Take care my friend.

    Thanks BZA, that was really helpful and got me setup perfectly, I would love to see more VR tutorials, in particular getting Gear 360 images and videos into Unity.

    Overriding with ASTC made my game crash. Resetting it to 'Don't Override' fixed it. Can you do more GearVR development tutorials? There are so few people working on it and I have chosen it as my platform of development.

    THANK YOU!!!! After following your install video (loosely because of the new version of Unity), and this one I can see 2 cubes.
    OK, for anyone else having issues:
    Make SURE the file that you downloaded from Oculus is in the right folder. I had it in the Android folder because of a copy error.
    Don't try and use the default Unity scene, even if you deleted all the other things out of it. For some reason it can't get past Made with Unity.
    I won't mention the 3 hours trying for find the Facebook App Manager to upgrade my Oculus that I deleted. You DON'T NEED THIS, or Facebook.
    You don't have to do anything in the Publishing section. (new app as I mentioned)
    I never found one that worked BTW, so I cannot update any of my Oculus apps. :(
    But I see 2 cubes Wohoo.

    very nice tutorial. do you also have some info on how we can read the touchpad on the sides of the gearvr so at least we can give it a tap (or more ;) ). thank you very much

    Hi. I m new to unity and i have setup problem. I installed latest unity and latest oculusu mobile sdk for VR developing. But unity says its failed to initialize sdk. I dont understand. Why latest versions dont work together. I need to make combination of all versions of sdks and unity install and uninstall and so on? I m realy stuck at the begining!!!

    Hej, greetings from Sweden. I have a question. What is the difference of dividing the time and Application.targetFrameRate= the frames you want? What do you think is the best approach for VR games regarding frames? Cheers!

    Hello thank you very much for the video, I added to my project, that I havn't could done it, an Auto walking code.
    The code works perfect in the unity engine, but when I build it to my mobile then try to play it in gear vr the "Auto walking script" dosn't work,althought Im am in the VR Environment but I can not move, the camera stays at place

    It makes the apk and everything, but when I load it, it runs smooth but is glitched out a bunch. The top is full of black squares that keep glitching in and out.

    Mine keeps say this: Unable to merge android manifests. See the Console for more details.
    Any links to trouble shoot this?

      If you read the error log, it will say which version you will be using and which one it needs. Simply go to the player settings and change it in the options to the correct version.

    Hi there, thanks for the video. Here is my case: I developed a VR app for Gear VR. In the time when i was making tests in my phone (note 5) I realized that the oculus ID signature was needed and everything just works fine. Now, I need to install the VR app in many samsung devices and use them with many Gear VR sets, my question is: How can I do to build my VR app in many cellphones without all the oculus signatures needed? I read about set the "keystore" in the "publishing settings" of unity. Do you have any idea how can I solve this? Hope you can help me. Thanks again for your video. I'm subscribed now. Greetings

    If you have trouble with abd on windows. Connect your phone with the pc. Google, download and extract abd package. Open command window. Navigate to the download file with cd command. Just enter abd devices. Worked for me.

    I have a Galaxy S6 that when I run the `adb devices` it never shows up. I've tried connecting it under the different USB modes (File transfer, photo transfer, software installation, midi) and it still never shows up. Any thoughts as to why that might be? Thanks!

      Ian Hirschfeld some cables are power only. try a different one. you know it has data because you will hear the new device found sound from your computer when you plug it in.

    wow - i am trying like heck to do the very same thing and running into errors. it seems like the simplest thing, but if i build and run, the app starts up in single screen mode. i get no stereoscopic image or an alert to plug it in. not using Reflector however. any clue? looks like you might be on a slightly newer 5.5 version (i have 5.5.0f1). i have a Gear VR with an S7 running 6.0. i've got the ID file installed in the right path and everything configured correctly. seems like this should be a no brainer but i'm getting nowhere.

      The only thing that I can think of is to make sure that the have the Virtual Reality checkbox in the Player Settings ticked for the Android Build settings. Good Luck.

      i found the error - turns out Unity5.5.0 has an issue with breaking stereoscopic builds on Android. so updating Unity to 5.5.1 solved the issue for me. hopefully any others will see my post and save themselves some hair pulling!

      There is still quite a bit more to do before you hit that publish button, but this is the min to get it working on the headset. Glad to hear that you liked it.

      Between this video and the Android Game Development Setup video, I was able to get this going albeit with a few errors. Bing/Google was my best friend in fixing issues.
      Thanks so much for these tutorial videos!! Although they weren't perfect, they're the best introductions to VR development on Android that I have encountered.
