Great video. Glad you enjoyed our North American version of Europe! Re the cannons in Quebec City, it is typical of a fortified city having to fend off its war enemies including the British and the Americans. When the British garrison left Quebec in 1871,they left behind many pieces. There are 120 guns, 62 carronades, 24 mortars and 12 howitzers and they are all originals. Worth noting there are also two Russian cannons seized by France from the spoils of the war of Crimea (1853-1856). The oldest piece is from a British ship that was to attack Quebec but sank in 1711.There are also seven German guns seized during the First World War during the Battle of Vimy Ridge in April 1917 in which the Canadian military established themselves as a formidable group of fighters.
Your most welcome! It was a great end to the trip! I’ll be doing a cruise wrap-up LIVE tomorrow at 12:30pm ET to talk pros & cons and even have a little Q & A! Hope you can make it! 🥰
Hi, I’m from Québec city and le buffet de l’antiquaire is the best breakfast in the old town part!!!! For the canons, the fortifications of the old city were longer and bigger than what you see now. Every canon that could be restored and put back to their place over the last 50 years.
Iff you enjoy this scenery you would love Belgium too. Yep hilly for shure where I live. Americans even come to train here, cyclists Oh boy that s a heavy breackfast! I have famaly living in Montreal That dinner looked so jummy Thank you so much for sharing X Bless you for it!
Oh thank you Jackie! I had a great time looking around! Thanks for going with me! I’ll be wrapping up the trip LIVE on Friday, 6/30 at 11:30am CT! I hope you can drop in! 🥰
So many cute & inviting shops😊 I’ve seen those Miss Vickie potato chips @5:32 several times but I didn’t realize they were Canadian. Next time I’ll pay more attention to all of the different flavors. 😋
Hi Beth, you did a great job on your vlog to Quebec City and Old Montreal. I'm from Montreal and love it, except for the long winters, but also appreciate the four changing seasons. Too bad you didn't have the chance to see some of the rest of the city. St. Denis street is filled with beautiful old architecture, so many affordable thrift stores, antique shops and terrace cafes. Very European flair. Amazing festivals and outdoor concerts. Thank you for sharing a small part of our beautiful city. 🇨🇦 Maria
Looks like you enjoyed your time in Quebec. Hubby's from Quebec City, been up and down the stairs many times, and he was posted militarily, on his own for 2 years, to Montreal and I took a bunch of weekends from our southern Ontario home to visit. This will be our relax on board time this summer on MS Volendam.
I love the stone buildings. What a great trip.
Thanks! This was a lot of walking (up & down hill)!😂, but it was fun! I’m wrapping up the cruise with a pros & cons and Q& A tomorrow at 12:30pm ET! 🥰
