    ----‐----------------------------------------------------------
Tanglefoot Brewing is a small Czech lager focused brewery in Temple, TX. In 2021 the brewery opened in the back of my family's BBQ restaurant that had been operating for 53 years. The restaurant has since closed and Tanglefoot has now taken over the entire space. This UA-cam channel was started to document the process of opening, running and growing a small craft brewery.

Lots of protein, I guess. I can understand the frustration. I am pretty sure anyone who has ever brewed has had that happen a time or two. I may give it a try this winter but the ingredients arent locally available so I will have to mail order. I know the modified decoction is the gold standard in this but would a few percent melanoidin added in be a substitute for the decoction if one was lazy? Thanks for sharing!

Honestly, I don't think the decoction is super jecessary to replicate this beer. So much roasted and caramel malts in it already

Greatest video and the recipe sounds solid. I may give this a try and scale it up to 11 gallons. Are you against using products like FermCap S or any other type of anti-foaming agent in the kettle?

Not at all. Just a very unexpected boil over. The kettle was less than half full too 😬

@@tanglefootbrewing Wow - that is quite extraordinary. I know that higher kilned/roasted malts tend to foam/head retention more both in the kettle and as a finished, carbonated product.... but billowing up that much from a half-full kettle several times is odd, for sure.
