I love how you have the ability to analyze a singer without making it boring to listen to for one, and also being able to explain things in terms that us non-music majors and teachers can understand what you're talking about. I find learning about how the voice works where singing is concerned and all the things people do or don't do that make singing happen or make it easier and all the other technical aspects of it but I've tried watching the videos of many vocal teachers and coaches and there are only a few who's channels I returned to after a video or two because I found that most are either only trying to show off their own voices or talent, constantly singing over the artist they're supposed to be watching to see if they can hit this note or that note themselves or just to show that they have a nice voice as well and you end up hearing more of them singing themselves more than the artist or any intelligent analysis whatsoever. Either that or they do a good job of analyzing but they do it in a way that, to me, just sounds like they're trying to sound smart, like they want to show off just how intelligent they are about it that they end up making it to where it's just confusing and uninteresting to listen to because they're trying so hard to sound smart that it almost sounds like they're reading the things they say right from a textbook or something. I love how you can break things down to where anyone, especially people like me who know nothing about any of it but find it interesting, can follow easily and understand exactly what you're talking about, and do it without boring us to tears and making it feel like we're sitting thru a lecture on the subject. I also love your positivity, how you can essentially criticize someone or something they're doing rather, without making it seem like you're just looking for and picking out every flaw you might see, you're always very respectful of everyone you react to whether good or bad, when I first discovered your channel I binged watched all your videos and one in particular was reaction to the worst auditions I believe it was and some of those people most would say were pretty off in their singing to say the least but I loved that on each and every one of them, you explained what they were doing technically that was making them sound so bad, why they were probably doing it that way, and what you would have them do to fix it if you were working with them. I loved that. And I loved how you seemed to feel exactly as I do when the judges are overly harsh and basically just flat out mean for no reason other than tv ratings pretty much. One guy in particular that they told in no uncertain terms to never sing again and you were like, no keep singing! I love that you genuinely feel that anyone could be a good singer if they really want to and how encouraging to people you always are! It gives those of us who love to sing but might not sound as great as other people, a little hope that we can do it if we just keep working at it! One of My Favourite Artist Fouzia. I was waiting for Sam to react to her voice. Thanks, Sam. I always love your reactions. Very informative and Musically Inclined. God Bless.
Sam I was wondering how your experience of enjoying music has changed since becoming a voice teacher? Like, are you able to “switch off” your teacher mode and listen to songs/performances without noticing details and somewhat analyzing them? Or has it just become part of your experience now?
I'm not a voice teacher and I'm not Sam, but I'd like to share my experience. About 5-6 years ago I started watching videos about vocal technique and stuff like that. I started understanding all the technical differences, how to tell "right" from "wrong", what's a "supported" sound. All those things about runs, riffs, legattos, staccatos, crescendos, diminuendos, mesa di vocce, forte, pianissimo, etc. I learnt about tessituras, vocal fachs, placement, resonance, and all that. Now, what I'm realising is, I can't listen to a singer without thinking about all this stuff. I just can't. I once used to be able to like singers simply for their style and I remember mainly focusing on the lyrical content and the mood/atmosphere of the song. Nowadays, I can't listen to an artist without constantly having all the technical things in mind. I just can't stop judging what they're doing right and what they're doing wrong, how they should be doing this and how they should be doing that. I literally find myself looking at people's mouths while they're singing, to observe their jaw, lips and tongue placement as well as their throats, to see their larynx, or whether there are veins popping. Or I'll be looking to weird things like whether they have a hunched back, whether they raise their shoulders, whether their belly moves while they're breathing etc. I just can't let go and enjoy the performance. I notice every single flaw and I just can't let go off it. I'm thinking about it all so technically, and I'm pretty sure music is not to be listened to in that way. Music is an art, a form of expression first and foremost. It should be about the meaning it conveys, about the emotions, about the mood, the atmosphere, the aesthetic. But I can't seem to enjoy music like that anymore and I can't stand myself for that. So many artists that I used to listen to and love while growing up, I find myself going back to them and judging them negatively, thinking how they're not good singers because they don't do this and that, pitting them against other artists and thinking what they should be doing instead. It's so annoying, really. I lost the sense of music. I don't know if that's how it is for anyone, or if it's just me. But that's just how I am nowadays. I judge whether I like a singer or not on their singing technique, not on their art. And this is not the way it should be. I'm sorry for the long paragraph. I hope I gave some insight.
@@theseeker2586 SAME. But it's quite easier for me as i pick the artists i like based on their vocal tone or timbre & then pick the songs i like based on whether the melody is good and the lyrical content. Like that Olivia Rodrigo girl with her hit debut single "Drivers License." I personally don't like people who sing with a very closed-mouth style or who sing cursive (not that she sings in a cursive style) BUT the sweet melody of that song + her beautiful, rich, warm vocals on it with the hard-hitting lyrics all "work together" to continually give me goosebumps everytime i listen to that song 🥰 I get that it's hard for you to "let loose" and enjoy music or a simple live performance BUT there's *got to be* a song that just hit you differently upon first listen 😂 Super curious about whether or not you've ever had that experience, but thanks for the beautiful insight ❤
@@alakega for me i turn it off depending on the artist. If i go on a mariah, demi, ariana, kelly clarkson, xtina, fauozia, sohyang etc etc video i expect great vocals and so im gonna pay attention to details but if i'm just wanting to listen to a normal song i lower my expectations a lot and sometimes i'm surprised by some runs, low or high notes, certain details that sometimes "weaker" singers pull off. However,in a live performance i can't just turn it off and listen to autotuned lived vocals or off key the whole time it's unbearable lool

That voice, pretty close from perfection to my ears. It's smooth , beautiful lows, clean and powerful highs, can give me goosebumps :) . Interesting to have your feedback on it.
The vibrato that she has is partially due to her Moroccan heritage, if you listen to her song you don't even know me, you will hear it more in her runs and it adds more of an eastern sound.

I'm not a voice teacher tho so obvs Sam as a different person and with way more knowledge than me could have a different POV.
@@theseeker2586 too long didn't read
SOOO happy you reacted to her!
You should check out “How it all works out”. Her Arabic background really shines in that song
Her moroccan not arabic background
I’ll follow youuu just because you reacted to her, you should do moore reactions about faouzia she is AMAZING !
Exceptionally talented young Mezzo-Soprano; not only does she have phenomenal vocal prowess but also an incredible songwriter and splendid musician 🌟
One vocal coach kept saying she's an alto. He said that like 3 times 😏. I don't understand vocal ranges I'm so confused.
@@thecrazyfawn5558 In Choirs, Sopranos usually sing Soprano parts and Mezzo-Sopranos usually sing Alto parts so that makes sense.
Contraltos are a whole other category (the lowest female voice type and they possessed an androgynous quality to their voices).
Here is an informative and enlightening page on voice types vocalview.tumblr.com/fachsystem
@@GarageStudio7 thank u for answering ma'am ❤️.
I thought she was an alto. Isn't she ?!
@@Sougabrielfelix Mezzos can be altos too, yeah
She’s sooo good! ❤️ love her. Great reaction!
Her vibrato is arabic idk if that makes sense , but we arabs sing songs that way so her voice is a mix from arabic moroccan singing style and the normal pop voice
Damn i didn’t know her before i really like what she does!
You should check her out. You’d be pleased
Same! This is fantastic...and I hear so much when I watch Sam reacts.
Yay!! Finally a Faouzia reaction
SAM, THANK YOU!!! I LOVE THIS REACTION!
Best singer right now
Dimash is better
No one is better than the other, they're both very talented singers.
Look up bad dreams live preferably where she’s playing the piano she’s in her lower a lotttt in That one! Also Sammm I miss your face idk why I’m not getting notifications anymore
I'm so happy you uploaded! Seeing a new video of yours is always a treat :) so thank you!

OMG! Loved it. Please check more of her performances. 🙏🏻❤️
U FINALLY FOUND FAOUZIAAAA!!!❤️❤️❤️
Hi, Sam! I'm happy you reacted to Faouzia. You should react to her singing You Don't Even Know. It's quite amazing!
I've been watching your lessons since you started on UA-cam. Thank you for staying true to yourself. I'll always smile/laugh at your thumb nails. 😎❤️
You are a good teacher, explained everything so well!
In my opinion Faouzia is (by far) the best vocalist of our generation, I can't get enough of her voice
Please react to her song HOW IT ALL WORKS OUT (stripped)
Dimash
Yes
Tori kelly is imo. But Faouzia is second.
Same
@@Roguenight863 I think tori Kelly is a millennial tho? I thought she was in her later 20s anyways. I prefer faouzia but rly they're both amazing they have very different voices and styles anyways
Yes... Plss react more on her. Plsss.. Ur reaction are the best❤️😍😍
My favorite singer!! Omg listen to all her stripped versions!!
Please keep reacting to her. Always react to the stripped version of her songs to hear her vocals better. I’m excited to see you reacting to more of her music!☺️
OMG MORE FAOUZIA PLEAAASE
That voice, pretty close from perfection to my ears. It's smooth , beautiful lows, clean and powerful highs, can give me goosebumps :) . Interesting to have your feedback on it.
YESSSS MORE FAOUZIA PLEASEEE
Absolutely loved it
Faouzia is phenomenal.
Heeey! Another video this week!? Loving this!
The vibrato that she has is partially due to her Moroccan heritage, if you listen to her song you don't even know me, you will hear it more in her runs and it adds more of an eastern sound.
i didnt like his comment about her vibrato that it funkiness can show u that she is inefficient in producing sound, that comment is stupid
Thank you for this reaction, it was amazing 😊😮👍🏻
OMGG SHE deserves so much more I cant
Amazing analysis 👌
This woman is literally a talent❤
PLS DO MORE OF FAOUZIA
The vibrato is characteristic of middle eastern, specifically Arabic, music.
The vibrato is cultural and highly intentional.
I really appreciate what you said about the vibrato. it's the same thing with the weeknd and why it hits different when you're from the same background
PLEASE REACT TO MORE OF FAOUZIA !!!
Please react to
Fouzia-Elon ( the full version after the credit of her live concert) its one of her best ever
and
Faouzia-Bad Dreams
Her voice is AMAZING 😍😍 So unique
She is amazing
"There are differences in how the C sharp sounds and the F sounds, I mean specifically in the pitch :D" Love that
Finally!!😊 Love her😍
Thank you for checking her out! Please check more of her. She writes her song herself. And since it's been a long time, could you make check out Sohyang again? She was so active in 2020. Maybe "Love Poem" or "I will always love you"? 😊 Or since you don't know it, her hardest and all-time-kill one called "Everyone" on Immortal songs? She's insane there, I'd love to hear your point of view.
We want more faouzia!!!!!
Who else doesn’t know who she is or the song but clicked just because of the thumbnail >😬
Edit: Gaaaaah, she’s incredible!
Yess she is ... check out her ytb channel and stream her songs ^^
She out her channel she's outstanding.
i thought faouzia and zhavia are the same person
@@danielavargas2340 who's zhavia ?
@@itdoesntmatter8491
i dont know any of them, just that both are singers and that s all :) sorry
they just have uncommon names for me, and i couldnt remember, so i mixed them up into one person in my mind
PLEASE COVER BAD DREAMS (her sitting at the piano version)!! by her it’s incredible
MORE FAOUZIA PLZZ
Wow she killed it ❤️
Yes! I looovvveeeee her so much!!!!
Finally u react to her!!!
Hi Sam! Please react to her song 'Bad dreams' (Stripped version) She is a vocal beast. Her voice is beautifully haunting!
FAWNNNNNSSS!! Where are youuu
I'm happy to see the long hair again ^_^
Faouzia I love her she's amazing 🥺❤️
wow, she has 6 available sounds to her voice! You're the first person to say this, lol.
Please do Faouzia You Don't Even Know Me - Stripped - It sounds like she's doing a little throat singing but I haven't heard any coaches mention it. They just said it was vibrato but I think it's more than that! I'd love to hear your take on it.
She has a similar quiver to her voice as Dolly Parton and Miley Cyrus.
