    Dude... I never write comments on youtube. But you earned that. You are so astonishingly great at explaining technical backgrounds in an easy, understandable and yet precise way. Very well researched and simply great tought. Your channel is so underrated and not even close to the appreciation you deserve. You should have 2.800.000 followers, not only 28.000...
    THANK YOU for your work and efforts!

    Great base (core technology), the foundation is required before you can build anything! KEEP UP THE FIGHT!
    A great CRI with diffused 5,000 Kelvin lighting, heavy drapes on the windows, a neutral gray work environment, a color calibrated work flow, makes editing easier, faster and more profitable! Emphasis on quality and profit! Yes I have one ugly room in my house which is my editing studio, however it pays for everything else!
    What amazes me is that 25 years ago the print industry paid 1.6 million dollars studying this and developing standards that nearly everyone ignores. This process is best thought of like a mosaic, the more pieces you adhere to the easier the repeatable quality.
    Thanks for the video.

      Thanks, David. I guess I have to make a video about color calibration and consistency once. But to be very honest with you, I am a bit sloppy in this regard. I don't do much for print and when targeting peoples monitors, you are on lost playgrounds. Every display is so different, that it might be better to adjust colors for an iPhone rather than make a correct calibration. Not even talking about different browsers on the same computer showing the very same youtube video differently.

      @@wolfamri Color calibration is easy. Having the dedication to serve the client is something else. I calibrate my display and control my editing environment. You end up with a file for print correction, I then create a web image and post it to hidden web siite to view on different devices. As 2 base core web destinations I find that images on touch screens and non touch screens look different. However most clients pick the image for touch screens today.
      What this has evolved into is that purchasing images on the web for projects has become problematic. I regularly get projects where I bill more to correct poor web purchwsed images then what they paid for the images in the first place.
      In general the ability to view images through browsers is awful. An issue that has no resolution that protects the rights of the image owner.
      The worst stuff I've seen is making camera profiles.

    • @wolfamri
      @wolfamri  3 роки тому

      Great to have such an expert on board. Do you know, is there a way people could calibrate their smartphones and tablets without using a dedicated device? I have two ipad minis and one 10". They all have different colors and brightness levels. I don't care much, but I wonder what would be the best approach in regard to monitor calibration to overcome this issue with e.g. clients.

      @@wolfamri There's the answer that works and then there's marketing.
      The real answer, No!
      Marketing will say anything to milk your money.
      Because of the multitude of displays and software the very best you can do is to work with a calibrated system in a controlled environment to create your web or GDI output file as an sRGB file.
      Place the files on line and view on different platforms, adjusting for destination.
      Pro image editors are color managed, browsers say they are but regularly fail. For forums, blogs Facebook and others they are significantly unreliable.
      The one core issue is that any display is only calibrated for 1 very specific lighting conditions. I know that there are devices that monitor those changing conditions but if you watch them work you may be disappointed.
      From a color grading or correcting perspective color is about what you like. Color management is about getting repeatable results that you like.
      I work as 16 bit Prophoto RGB for a multitude of reasons. I then save as required.

    • @davidmilisock5200
      @davidmilisock5200 3 роки тому +1

      @@wolfamri Color management is not that complicated and is just as important for web as it is print.
      Calibrate your workstations, edit for your destination. My friend decided all his web mages will be done for cell phones. Assuming you have quality display systems. Once your systems are calibrated you can run the same presets on all machines and get good results.
