When I was a kid, living in Uzice, GM Ljubojevic taught me this line to exhaustion. At that time, I was a 10y.o. 1st category, 11y.o. master candidate, a young hope and all that, but then the wars happened and all the hopes crumbled. But, I can testify that GM Ljubojevic went into this a3/b4 line into some real depth. He showed me a bunch of lines, traps and tricks, and he did it all some 30+ years ago, before he reached the highest point of his career. Anyway - on one side - here's a GM who really explored this line half a century ago. On the other hand - I don't know if he ever played it in classic game, or if anyone ever did on that level. He considered this line to be one of his personal bags of tricks for 5m games or simultaneous games he played by the river. Never in a 2h30m for first 40 moves game. It'd be fair to call this gambit after someone who really used it, I don't know if there are such examples - of someone being successful with a3/b4 on some advanced level. Ljubojevic was among top10 for some time, so, I think a3/b4 would probably be considered insulting, right? I mean, just imagine, top players of planet, opening, fighting for center with every move, and after 1.e4 c5, you play 2.a3, preparing 3.b4 lol ;D
Good video. I like that you provide advice for Black too. Too many chess videos present some opening as a magical solution rather than providing a balanced view.
I don't know if this is what you are looking for (if there is a mate), but... 1.Qxg7+ Rxg7 2.Nxd8+ Kg8 (otherwise if Kf8, Ne6+ is crushing) 3.Nxa8 Nxa8 4.Ne6 and Black is destroyed.
My hobby is playing chess, I'm seeking more techiques to improve my knowledge and thank you so much for your videos which I'm always watcing tepeatedly to memorize its moves and I realize I'm improved because I made to defeat my uncle the one I never beat before.
I have a Question in 3:44 u showed that we could play bishop F4 but what if he plays E5 we are done isnt it????? Then i think advantage goes down for white...., i dont really know so can i get some advice on this..
The first idea, 2...g6, is the main line and scores extremely well for black in the database. The second approach allows 4. b5 Nd4; 5. c3 Ne6; 6. Bc4 Nf6; 7. d3 (followed by Ne2, exd5, O-O, Nd2 and a4-5), which guarantees a small but long-term advantage for white.
this gambit. ~ "Dumbfound attack gambit" 😀 ... what do you think ? :for the puzzle it seems easy to capture blacks queen. - with white moving his queens to F4 check : Black can only block by moving his Bishop to F6 than white can take blacks queen - with knight to D8 after his Rook takes the knight then white other knight takes his other rook on A8...so he lost a Queen & Rook in a few moves = two major peices so He may as well resign... also after he blocks the check on F4 you could go = Knight to G5 Check blk: F8 wht: E6. Check & folk Bishop takes -- Knight takes Renewed threat free Folk @ E6. "Check" and take blacks Queen that way (oops I may have missed something - black rook can't take whites knight....but anyway you cut it white can capture the Queen ) ....lol
If it doesn't have a name you should use a name that resembles destruction to the this tough and complicated defense. I just recommend, Sicilian Defense, The Invasion or Sicilian Invasion whahaha
Not really a gambit with 2.a3, but 3.b4 is a gambit.. I Think Mengarini variation is right, but Also Bezgorov variation, he played alot of rapid games against strong GM’s with good results

Because of you my brother (small kid) learned chess in 3 days now he is defeating us tq
Nice trap techniques. Thank you
Puzzle:
1)Neg5+; Kf8 (only square),
2)Ngxh7+; Kf7 (only square),
3)Qe6+; Bxe6,
4)dxe6++
Is it correct sir?

That #humblebrag at the beginning 🤣. Jk, but I think this opening is called the mengarini, named after Dr. Ariel Mengarini
5:02 you can see on the right above the most common moves, this opening is called the Sicilian Defense: Mengarini Variation.
Good video. I like that you provide advice for Black too. Too many chess videos present some opening as a magical solution rather than providing a balanced view.
It seems to be called the "Mengarini Gambit" according to pg. 408 of Schiller's Unorthodox Chess Openings
Correct

Thanks for the tutorials.
Grandmaster Smirnov, thank you for this offbeat not often used wing gambit. A good surprise weapon.
I found something better than Nxd8+. It's Ng5+, Nh7+ and key move Qe6+!! winning with style
What happens if black goes Bxe6?
@@haydengaspard4099 play it out on the board. I'll wait.
outstanding !!

Just Awesome. !!!! I will be playing this for awhile. !!!! I luv gambits. !!! I always have good.luck with them,,,,,, 😄👍
Good luck!

I checked it with stock fish. It shows after Bf5....e5.....de5..be6...Qa4. game continues with white having slight advantage.
Ng5+ forces Kf8. Nxh7+ then forces Kf7. Qe5+ forces Bxe5. Now dxe5#.
Thank u sir for your free master class . I have no coach. Sir , can u make some more help in future for people who have no coach . like me
does this work against najdorf sicilian?
Hello, please how do I download the pgn for this opening in your website ?

Nd8. Take the black queen and check his King. Thanks for your videos!
Thanks bro
Your a great teacher
Glad you think so!
@@GMIgorSmirnov If you don't mind can you give your opinion on this statement- chess is all about memorization.
Amazing
This dude is a legend! “Time for black to resign” Legend!
Yes this is the Mengarini Gambit
The first idea, 2...g6, is the main line and scores extremely well for black in the database. The second approach allows 4. b5 Nd4; 5. c3 Ne6; 6. Bc4 Nf6; 7. d3 (followed by Ne2, exd5, O-O, Nd2 and a4-5), which guarantees a small but long-term advantage for white.
You are absolutely spot on... i hv been playing this as white forever and g6 really stops most of my tricks
We should call it the alien attack, or defense. Actually if you don't use it, I will for my original opening scheme.
😁
surprising traps.
after move b4 we càlled naughty pawn gambit my suggestion
I meant Qf4
Qe4?
Pawn mate in 3....after 1st move Ng5+
this gambit. ~ "Dumbfound attack gambit" 😀 ... what do you think ?

also after he blocks the check on F4 you could go =
Knight to G5 Check
blk: F8
wht: E6. Check & folk
Bishop takes -- Knight takes
Renewed threat free Folk @ E6. "Check"
and take blacks Queen that way (oops I may have missed something - black rook can't take whites knight....but anyway you cut it white can capture the Queen ) ....lol
Dr does that
Isn't it the Van Duijn' s variant ?
Modified wing gambit
Call it the smirnov gambit
The Gambian Gambit...
Do not type your narrative in the board as it covers the pieces and therefore you cannot see and comprehend the right moves.
See comments always
Smirnoff attack
The Keyser Söze Gambit
Mengarini Gambit.
N x g7, if rook takes Qf5+ mate
Then pawn capture Q
👍👍
named after the italian chess player
delayed wing gambit
Van Duijn's gambit ?
If it doesn't have a name you should use a name that resembles destruction to the this tough and complicated defense.
I just recommend, Sicilian Defense, The Invasion or Sicilian Invasion whahaha
Menarini variation
Looks like a wing gambit delayed.
i do not like this opening- tried it against a bot and they kept on taking my rook or leaving it exposed- i had to protect my rook early
mengarini gambit
This is not a good way to give pawn early
Black have many ways to protect his king
The most dangerous opening trap? The Najdorf puts it to bed..
Its wing gambit.....
😪
U didn't analyze a6 after Qd5
Really "New" Gambit lmao. Its not new and it does have a name just look it up! 🤷🏻♂️
NxQch wins
