I like the straw for Martha. Beautiful projects and quilts. I got away for my birthday and it was so much needed. I started Lucy on my birthday, the 46 count linen is so wonderful to stitch on and the colors are amazing. Happy Stitching

I love your start on This Happy Morning on the Black Swan! I was going to do the light version, but now I can't decide. I do think the straw looks better for Martha Evans. I'm having a hard time with fabric choice for that, too. Your paper piece quilt is looking so beautiful! Your mom's quilts are beautiful too! How special to have quilts from her! As usual, I love all your stitching! I'm glad you had a refreshing get-away!

Hi Nicole! I agree with you, if you want the golden tone that’s shown in the pattern picture the Straw linen matches much more closely than the called for. I adore your projects bags you do such nice work. I would have stolen that quilt too that your mom made, the French General fabric is so pretty. He wouldn’t have appreciated nearly enough. Take care!

These video podcasts couldn’t be more enjoyable and can’t thank you enough for your efforts. We usually run on the same stitching wavelength with strikingly similar choices across the board, and that’s nice too 😊 Yes, indeed, the Needle & Flax Hemingway is fabulous, yet I agree the color doesn’t seem to suit Martha Evans. The 46 ct. Weeks Straw you’ve shown looks great and I’ll consider that one more closely. Others I’ve pulled from stash are 40 ct. Fox and Rabbit White Clay, along with Desert Tiapan. Then there’s Legacy Linen’s 45 ct. Wild Birdseed calling me. Time will tell!!

It’s just a wide zig zag stitch using a regular sewing machine.

Love your Fanny…what a beautiful sampler. I’m tempted to start her soon, but I’ve already started 4 new (to me) HATS samplers since late December and plan to participate in the Lucy Barber SAL. Isn’t that such a beautifully colorful sampler?! The quits in progress and finished are so pretty! I’m trying to get my sewing room organized (after recently moving) so I’ll be ready for Corey Yoder’s Sunwashed collection and the Bountiful QAL from Fat Quarter Shop. Not sure I’ll make it! Lol! Happy stitching, quilting, and crafting! ETA: I like the Straw better for Martha…and I haven’t started mine yet. I’m stitching her on Buckskin from Mountainaire, which seems to match the picture best of the fabrics in my stash 😊

I agree with your selection of Straw. While both fabrics are beautiful, the warm glow of the Straw really sets off the border stitching. I can’t wait to see the rest of the colors and your progress.

Another great flosstube! Your quilts are so pretty! I am also starting Martha Evans and I'll use a Zweigart cream Edimburgh 35ct linen. I can't get the called for linen because I live in Italy and the shipping is expensive, but I also think that maybe a more golden tone can be more similar to the cover photo. Happy stitching!

I do frame some of them. We moved into our new house about 2 years ago and still haven’t hung much up. I keep saying I’m going to do it! 🤦🏻♀️

QUESTION....would you have any interest in doing a video segment on silk threads?? I am relatively new to stitching (about one year in) and have only ever worked with CCW and WDW. I enjoy those but would love to try my hand with the beautiful silks. Because of the investment involved, I'd love to know a little more about brands, uses, color selections, tips, etc. My you tube searches have not provided much information so maybe there are other "new-ish" stitchers out there anxious to explore the world of silks who could also benefit?? Thanks for any consideration you might give that idea!

Yes, I live in the Charlotte area. Unfortunately our local cross stitch shop closed. There are some great quilt shops though. My favorites are Sewendipitous in Rock Hill, SC, Sew Much Fun in Lowell, NC and We’re Sew Creative in Concord, NC.
