Brother Lawrence lived his life in prayer making all things he did throughout the day like a prayer to God. A collection of his works, Practice the Presence of God, teaches how to make this journey. There are also daily meditations based upon his writings in which you meditate throughout the day on that particular phrase. A sample phrase is "All of me." As you go along through out your day, in your heart, pray, "All of me", as you make your entire day, all that you do, and your life, a prayer to the Lord God, out of love for Him giving thanks, praise, honor and glory to Him, even in the simplest of tasks. This must be cultivated and takes time and practice.

This is excellent, top notch info on living Catholic Spirituality, and I say that as a 59 yr.old Catholic High School Catechism teacher over the past 30 years. Keep up the great work...you're making a difference far beyond what is immediately apparent. Cheers from Canada!!!

I've come to so love this man, I'm utterly deflated if there isn't a new post on any given day. Through his knowledge and humor, I've gained so much. I could add, "when you pour your bourbon, you think of the Lord." Thank you, Father.

hesychasts repeating the jesus prayer most of their waking time is not too difficult to get used to for a monk who is dedicated mostly to prayer and some individual manual labor (byzantine monks usually spent their time making ropes and baskets in their cells). the most difficult part is to have it flowing while talking with other people or pondering anything more complicated than rote tasks, tho its said more advanced hesychasts can do that.
i imagine it would be easier to do if one was a hesychast who continually does the one-word centering prayer..

Woah, I often comment that I dislike your style cause you tend to be wordy and say simple things in a very complicated manner.
But I seriously enjoyed this vid. So many little epiphanies just at the right time. Thank you Fr. Pine!
I'm putting this stuff into practice asap

In Tibetan Buddhism there's a 3 year seclusion event with 8 - 12 hr constant daily deep meditation & prayer. Human transition is an understatement in the outcome. Anything historically known in your trad?

As St. Josemaria Escriva (whom Pope St. John Paul II called "the saint of ordinary life") once said, you can turn your laboratory or work desk into an altar whereby you can sanctify and offer your work to God, as it were. That forms part of your prayers. Every aspect of your daily, ordinary life (work, relationship ... ) can be offered to God. Direct everything to God. 🕊️🙏

Metropolitan Kallistos says it is not so much our prayer as the prayer of the Holy Spirit within us, and that it even lasts during sleep.
God bless. "[Unceasing prayer is] no longer something that we think or say, but something that we are...a person who is prayer all of the time...[I]t continues uninterrupted even in the midst of other activities." (Orthodox Way, p. 123) A Catholic who embodies this type of prayer, in my opinion humbly, is Abbot Nicholas Zachariadis of Holy Resurrection Monastery. Met. Hierotheos likewise says that a person may be "asleep" yet "he realises at the same time that his heart was keeping vigil and praying...his heart...prays to God without ceasing." (Time to Act, p. 146) I write this in response especially to Fr. Gregory's mentioning of the "Eastern tradition, the hesychast movement" (5:11). Thank you so much, and God bless.

Religious person: sorry I was gonna pray but got side tracked by some stuff, I'll catch up at a later date.
God: (literally knowing everything ever past, present and future) I'll allow it.

Consistently Pray for forgiveness, guidance in a good (positive) direction, and for help against evil. Pray to be saved from hell (whatever that may be). Pray for your friends and your family too, it only takes a minute or so/less at a time to pray. Do it and your life will slowly get better, or maybe quickly. It probably just depends on you and the kind of person you are/have been. Don't wait until its too late and you have to suffer the consequences of built up bad karma from immoral acts/unrepented sins. Maybe together we can help make the world a better place by changing ourselves for the better, and changing things around us for the better.
And addressing/thanking the CREATOR, LORD GOD at the beginning and end of your prayers would be a good idea 😊
Or just be my friend if you don't want to say the prayer 😄
I'm trying to help you get right with the LORD🙏
    Amen.
You should prostrate yourself if you don't want to do spoken prayer, or do both ☺ Please worship the LORD GOD and not any idol. 🙏

What "ticks" for me is sticking to awareness prayer. It's not easy and efficient to make a recollection in a verbal way. Not that it's unworthy of sticking to. There is, at least according to my experience, a way of passive prayer. It still requires a certain portion of willpower to sustain it. Nevertheless, by conscious and verbal meditation of theological matters such as God's existence and love, one can activate this passive sensation of His presence. After some time it becomes a matter of reminding ourselves that He is in fact here with us, all the time. It's just our job to pick up the phone. So there are no verbalization per se, just a recollection of consciousness, re-activation of awareness about Him.

When you pray don't pray like Pharisees who love to be seen in street by men and heard for their many words BUT YOU GO INTO YOUR CLOSET AND PRAY IN SECRET AND YOUR FATHER WILL REWARD YOU OPENLY- DO AS THEY SAY NOT AS THEY DO FOR THEY MAKE BURDENS HARD FOR MEN TO BEAR BUT DON'T LIFT A FINGER TO BEAR THEM THEMSELVES WOE TO YOU TEACHERS OF THE LAW- HIRELINGS CARE NOT FOR SHEEP NOR KNOW GOOD SHEPARDS VOICE AND WHEN HE COMES WILL ABANDON SHEEP IN DITCH TO FIND ROCKS TO HIDE IN BEFORE 7 DEAD SEAS COME WITH HELLFIRE AND KING JUDGE IN 1 COR 3 BEMA TALENT SHOW- CUIDADO CON LOS LOBOS QUE PARECE TAN AMABLE PERO NO QUIERE LAS OVEJAS NADA Y PRONTO LOS ABANDONA BUSCANDO ROCAS PARA ESCONDER ANTES QUE 7 MARES MUERTOS VENGA CON EL REY DE REYES JUZGANDO CON FUEGO
