Interested to hear the costing of the floor and these combined and just how comfortable a sleep you have on the mattress? We use a STeeFRee bed that folds away very easily and is full width to keep the missus happy. Recently did a 21 day trip to Portugal and it’s the best set up we have had in 25 years of adventures around Europe. Hopefully I will bump into you one day so you can see what you think of our setup. Everyone has diff needs so compromise for individuals is key. We actually use ours for its intended use but is also our daily driver. Keep up the good work, Geordie and Kate
My 150 rib with leather upholstery and fitting was £7k, it does move about 2ft, but it’s not on rails. £4k is a bargain, especially with the rails for added flexibility.
My van already does this. Lockers to the left enable a full width bed. Storage under bed and full length of van. Did this 8 years ago and a Great set up making most of the van.
For me, versatility is the name of the game while minimising compromise, and this looks great! I had the rear most seat mounting point put in my Kombi so I could move the rear bench between the two positions and that works well for me, but this system with a bed takes it to a new level for sure, and shouldn’t ever put you in a position where you can’t do what you need (expect that one time you need to pick up some 8x4 sheets!).
That’s a fair one, I’ve dabbled with a couple of touristy travel videos but mainly for personal memories and friends. I personally think you would get quite a following on road trip posts but do love your informative van posts. I’m always striving to better our van but having travelled 25 years around Europe it’s tough to find any real improvements now. Keep up the good work but please post some travel stuff in future
@@KI55DUB ye. Last Xmas I hit the road for two weeks. Only in uk. But up and down getting loads of work done. Was good fun. Hard to always remember to have the camera on etc. got a campout before Xmas 👍🏻
I work as Van builder ( not for camperking ) and fitted a Mob bed back in August to a van. I was very impressed with it. Potentially got another one to fit too. I think it's a great option to compare against the RIB with a glide motion system if you want a sliding bed
Loving this slider, best one I've seen. Having a SWB and the missus not keen on rails, I opted for a RIB bed slider (non rail), which works like a car seat with the frame static, but sat back to give me boot space when it is slid all the way forward and floor space when I empty the boot space and push it back. The only thing I am not keen on with the RIB is how high the seat is, this mobi frame looks like they have got round this by having a seat pad that folds forward when the base is folded forward. Love that feature.
I live my camperking T6.1 it has a rock n roll bed and has massive storage at the rear and under the seat. Like you say everything is a compromise…when I was van hunting a couple of years ago, I looked at fords and Renault builds that had something similar to what you have (but a bit more archaic) and the thing that turned me away from the rail system, is the amount of dust and crap that falls in. Even the new ones at the show were filled up with grubby buggers like me in and out. I have to brush out my van multiple times a day, so for me, the rails getting constantly filled with daily dirt and having to move the rug to move the position would be a pest. Saying this, I love your thinking and obviously you’re not actually going to living in yours. Oh and I’m a mountain biker and I’m constantly back n forth to bike park wales, I just use the thule rack which I’ve modded with a rail so I can tie down a Plano trunk for wet gear and kit, and my paddle board. If I need extra security, I just take off the wheels and pop her in the lounge wrapped in a blanket if it’s dirty. While writing this, I just realised I want a bloody crafter now😂 great vid, well presented. Looking forward to the build. You’ve got a sub lad 🤙
@ good thinking! I’ve got a micro hoover…but it’s not much cop…I mean, I’m a 70s child, and if it was white powder down the holes I’d just roll a twenty if you get my drift 😉😂
Looks a great bit of kit, like a rib bed but with the extra padding but not as chunky, I’m guessing that it’s comfortable enough without the need for a mattress topper
Similar to the California sliding seat/bed but with a smoother more positive sliding mechanism. I suspect it’s a fair bit cheaper too. A slider just makes the van so much more versatile. Looking forward to seeing the kitchen 'pod' next…
I am interested in this with your metal floor with rails. Can you let me know where and how much, if you can 😇🙏🏽 I would also like to know about the cost of fitting for both. I would like a 3 seater instead of a 2 seater. Thank you in advance for your help and advice 😇
