A Gaughan/ Carey descendent here, your book looks amazing. I plan to visit my roots next August. Is there a digital version available . When I come visit I will purchase a hard copy. My great grandfather was Michael Gaughan b. 1833 son of Malacky. From Tallagh then Moyrahan. Would love to understand more about Gaughan families from the Inniskeas . Also researching information about my gg grandmother Ellen Carey Gaughan possibly from Doolough?
Thank you for your hard work on this book. Frank Brancaccio , Long Island New York

A belated thank you Frank. The Gaughan surname was very numerous through out Erris and was said to be of Crossmolina origins. There was also many variations like Geoghagan, Gavagan and Gavacan. The surname is still fairly numerous behind Ellybay and on the Mullet in general. There was also marriages in the olden days between the southern Mullet and Doolough ...the connection being the trade in turf across Blacksod B. There was no turf on southern mullet and they bought turf in Doologuh and ferried it in sailing boats and indeed currachs across the bay to Blacksod and Cartron in olden times.
