Finally a Black designer. More designers with diverse and varied identities please. Black, Asian, Indigenous, Neuro -atypical, Disabled, the gamut. Diversity of identity broadens the design outcomes. Thanks for introducing us to Nike Onile.
🤔 Thanks for this! I never even realized and I have been subscribed for years. I’m always so caught up with the designs but I definitely agree and this needs to change immediately.
My eyes opened a little wider when she open that hidden door to the extra room, beautifully done. Each room has it’s own vibe and it all balanced together.
I LOVE this designer she is amazing. This isn't my style at all but I appreciate every single part of this apartment and her knowledge and skill. Love that everything is intentional. Please do more of her work. I could watch her give tours for hours...
I resonate with how the designer uses her bed, feels in her space with the tree mural, and her feel of her bathroom. What a beautiful use of every foot of her space.
I like that she hasn’t bought a coffee table because there isn’t one that spoke to her The bedroom design 🙌 🙌 Edit: I really like this designer, she’s cool and has a different vibe
Wow. Just wow. I have a black leather sofa as well. It’s also not as comfortable as I would like but it fits the aesthetic like this one does. I really appreciate this designer sharing a realistic struggle. Her home is beautiful.
I love the apartment but I absolutely love the designer her vibe is so amazing I just love when people are doing what they love their happiness is so infectious
Beautiful. I love her style. She chose so many eye catching pieces with character, it makes the space super interesting. Just beautiful and she's so charming.
Love how down to earth she is. Finally a designer that admits how much she likes an ikea piece or how she got that beautiful dining table off FB marketplace. That secret room is so good!!
I’ve noticed that Canadian design seems to incorporate a lot of black elements, paired with natural wood tone and a high degree of natural light. This is an example of how to do it very, very right.
@@leefrancis007 you’re close, in that the two share similarities in terms of palette and material! I don’t think that’s quite the whole story, though, because Canadian Contemporary seems to use black in a few specific places, and seems more comfortable with contemporary features (like recessed or statement lighting) than the Japandi model. There’s also more “stuff” than a Japandi home. I’ve started noticing it because my partner, who is not Canadian, was able to identify Canadian Contemporary homes in media like AD, and here in House&Home, and Canadian design magazines, and I think she’s right: there’s something unique about it.
I loved this so much!! Beautifully styled home. Her comments about her sofa were great! I see homes with such beautiful seating, but you just know it’s uncomfortable lol! It was nice to hear the honesty there. Awesome hidden door to the second bedroom! Really enjoyed this feature!
Her home is so serene. I love the fact that she has incorporated so much hidden storage in plain sight! My favorite space is the second bedroom, what a great getaway. I want to see more from this designer.
Oh my gosh I love everything about this - Ms Onile's pure talent and honesty, about her aesthetic, about how design is ever-evolving even in a designer's home, her willingness and openness to decorating for herself and not for a magazine (although the result is truly magazine-worthy, that wasn't the goal), her admission that not everything is "right" yet. And then all of the surprises, especially that art room. Wow wow wow. More please!
Thank you for introducing us to this awesome designer. Loved everything in that space. Minimal yet so warm and inviting. I love love the hidden bedroom.
Loved…the repetition of the slats, the Besta wall for storage, the bar door, the generous dining area, the use of space. I’d like to see an update when she decides on a coffee table or not, and a different sofa. She’s so much fun.
I enjoy listening to her. She is so honest and truthful about her space. It's refreshing. More diverse designers would be appreciated. This was awesome.
Omg is she the coolest person ever maybe? And I'm 100% with her design aesthetic! I just really want to be her friend! Love this feature, more Nike Onile's work and herself please!!
I know what I thought I was expecting to see, but that was not what I saw...at all. The crispness and tranquility of this 800SF is amazing. The kitchen ceiling over the light, the vertical wood strips on wall and door, the bar/door were all nicely imaginative touches to bring the place to this level. The designer is fun and appreciative and I think could help anyone. Enjoyed seeing this home.
Yes! Nike Onile! Love her on Cityline! I really like that little entrance nook and the wood paneling in the kitchen ceiling. I might try to do something like this in my own home.
The door to the second bedroom was absolutely brilliant! Kitchen is very lux for being so small but functional and modern - nicely done! Yes, more diversity of designs and designers please.
Amazing and innovative. Finally, someone with fresh new ideas and bold visions that feel calming and personal. Great tips included. Loved the Willow Tree!
i love how she captures the essence and mood of her place. she articulates her intentions very well. i would feel very good and liberated in this home. it is spacious and vibrant with the white backdrop, the black in the kitchen and bathroom and the water features and beautiful willow tree! so stylish and comfortable.
I totally love her aesthetic! The willow trees, the greenery and the dark marble in the kitchen! Yes! Elegant and chic, but still comfortable for every day living.
Great esthetic, bravo to a beautiful transformation. The kitchen would be my favorite place to be in the home for sure. In love with the bathroom. That speakeasy bar door into the second bedroom is absolute genius.
Fantastic, love her personality and her sense of style is to another level. When she opened the door to the second room was like the icing on the cake!!
Surprise 2nd bedroom??!! What!! Why is it that I could listen to this woman all day long? Her Instagram gives more of her space details. So inspirational.
Absolutely stunning interior, I love how everything in the condo has a purpose, this place exhudes, warmth, sophistication and is very elegant. The feature storage around the tv is one of my fav. design spots.👌🏾❤
Mind blown ... second bedroom beyond the hidden door left me speechless. But that will happen when one's mind is blown. Such a FABULOUS idea. Water baby here loved every detail.
OMGGGG!!!! You just gave answer and vision to a 30+ year sleeping situation we've had! My husband has ALWAYS slept sideways on our bed; Queen and now our King. Never does he sleep head-to-toe as the bed(s) are designed. I've tried to figure for YEARS!!! how to best situate the bed so he'd sleep more comfortably. YOU HAVE GIVEN ME THE ANSWER! When we move into our house, I will turn our bed the way you have done yours; whether its a narrow room or not. Thank You! What a GREAT IDEA!!! Oh, And I love your space! It is lovely! And the kitchen is PERFECT!!! Definitely ditch the uncomfortable couch 😊 Have a Great Day!
This by-far was the BEST H&H featured video I have ever seen. It spoke to me bc not only was it beautiful, it was something that seemed affordable and livable for me -perhaps not- but I loved it nonetheless. I watched this video about 10x today alone.
nicely done! she makes it look easy.. i appreciate the genuineness / personal touches of her approach .. it does not feel copied from all the other white minimal trends!
I loved the design and especially the designer! Her personality stands out - she's such a sunny and open kind of person :) Also loved her approach to have only the "intentional" things. The tip on the Besto doors=panels is genius! ;) Thank you!
How wonderful! This is so nice and has so much individuality and personality. How refreshing. The designer Nike Onile created a really cozy and relaxing space. Love love love it!
Love this! I allowed myself to be talked out of black kitchen cabinets and I regret it. I enjoy your space and it's good to see your vision! It's so personal and it's so inspiring!
The Condo is beautiful, I like that she used cheaper and second hand options and I love seeing a Black Designer. Please feature more Black Designers!
I'm so happy to see a black designer..I was starting to think there aren't any 😢
I loved her personality, like the honesty about the couch :D This is such a tasteful place!
For real 🥰 🥰
Ditto!!!
@@siphokazileratomalinga2969 They are there, but you may have to look harder.

@@eveclewis I notice it allllllll the time.
My thoughts exactly.
what do you mean by indigenous? Because all groups of people are indigenous to somewhere in the world
@@JPS-sc1zn indigenous to Canada Where this is based. Stop being obtuse!
Why would we think that video is “kooky”? I loved it!
More of HER! She’s fun to watch and her style is cool.
I need this “ kooky” designer to come and give my home a makeover. Just love her vibe.
THANKS MUM
You can just tell that she thoroughly enjoys her space... as it should be. And that extra room! Lovely.
My eyes opened a little wider when she open that hidden door to the extra room, beautifully done. Each room has it’s own vibe and it all balanced together.
Yes so true😯🤓😲😲😲
This home, like the designer, is fun and has tons of personality. Awesome!
She’s got great design principles but somehow her own home looks like she hasn’t done 100%. Will love to see more from her portfolio.
Wow absolutely beautiful - the second room was such a wonderful surprise. This was so well done - would love to see more from her!

The bar/secret door leading to the second bedroom - wow! 🤯

Black grounds and introduces masculine element. I didn't really like this design but tastes are different.
its called Japandi :)

Nike's space inspires me so much! Simply beautiful.
