Linus forgot to mention Orkut, which was huge in Brazil & India. In 2009, it had nearly 30 million users while Facebook had just 4.2 million. It was acquired by Google; so, in a way, it was their first ever social network.

I'm 20 and I remember hi5 (I was probably between 10 to 14 when I was using that website).
How about orkut? The first Google's social media that looked almost exactly lile facebook?
I was about to post that too! Logged in now and got reminded of the "pet" feature where you "bought" and "owned" people? WHAT?! lol
Also early on in the Internet era, there were people creating Angelfire pages and Geocities pages, I went with a less popular Homestead page, but Homestead still exists to this day, but no longer seems to offer a Trial membership, but early Trial members were grandfathered in, and still retain their limited membership tier. Of course now I just use my homestead site as a custom start page with several button links that I recustomize every few months, sort of a Visual Bookmarks page that pops up everytime I open the browser or go 'home'.

Because all today's new gpus are heading to the limits of data transfer of Pci-e Gen3
So just search for motherboards with Pcie gen4
And then it shouldn't be any problem with Bus speed
Remember that stats like bus length size speed etc etc are whats on paper, it means that it doesn't shows real performance
And you should look at FPS in certain load youre buying card for
Me for example searches often to get pretty futureproof gpu for CAD
And Nvidia quadro performs better in it than gaming GPUs
I was actually introduced to social media via hi5, which was very popular in my school back in 2007/8. Most people didn't have internet connections back then, myself included, and so I gave my password to a friend who did. To you know, use it occasionally. Damn I feel so old.
My god, I remember the "web design" of the late 90s, early- and mid-2000s. The embedded midi tunes that play automatically with no way to shut it up other than to unplug your speakers in fury. The rapidly sparkling gif backgrounds. The gaudy borders around every single element on the web page. I'm so glad we've outgrown all that garbage.

Orkut wasn't too big in North America.
Orkut's user-base was bigger in Brazil and India.

my first social media account was xanga back in the day. the year 2003!!!! just before i graduated from highschool. it was basically just a simple extenstion of all our high school trash talking of each other, combined with a blog, combined with the ability to post pictures and stuff
There was a social media site in Hungary, way before Facebook or Twitter was born, named IWIW.
It had almost half of the features that today's social media sites use. Messages, posts on other people, clubs (groups), timeline etc.
Sadly, site had to be closed after literally every user left to Facebook. I saw as my Friends deleted their accounts, and over a week there was none.

basically TunnelBear got a Lawsuit of 200 million $ on there hands for using images of copyrighted material on their website, so they cut ties with many advertisers like Linus Media Group until they get this sorted out

It was designed to be used in the US, it was created in the US, of course most of it's user-base was in the US .
But that changed quickly in the following years

Orkut was huge back in the day when I was in school actually. Facebook came much later among the people here.
Also, Facebook was created to rate girls on their hotness quotient which is a complete asshole move.

Honestly, the hate towards Google+ it's so annoying.

Patrick B campus-wide student directory is a fancy word for it.
The original application was basically a hot or not application for Harvard girls. It was not truly delving into what we would consider Social Media until it became "The Facebook".
In Finland we had the site called IRC-Galleria, and in here it was most popular social media till facebook came. it was open for public in 2000 and I think it's still running but not sure.

My experience with each...
Friendster = great idea, site was damn slow though
MySpace = user pages were annoying to visit with a hundred customizations each
Facebook = nothing was that "innovative" about it but they made social networking clean and not annoying and have since added innovative features
Linkedin = the social network everyone has but never uses
Twitter = only useful because EVERY celeb and company uses it but I have no desire to tweet or follow my friend's tweets
Google+ = tried it for a week but Google has given us no reason to use it instead of FB

I'm not on any social media. I think it's stupid. If you wanna talk to me, call me. If you're in a place you can't talk, that's what messaging is for. The only thing I can understand social networking for is sharing photos and videos which you can do with a few media apps.

I’m surprised that there was no mention of the recent Facebook scandal involving Cambridge Analytica. After all, the outcome of this scandal could definitely change the landscape of social media. (And that’s not to mention how people involved in the founding of many social media sites have come out against using social media.)

Zuckerberg is from my hometown, Ardsley. His dad was my dentist for many years, his office was in their home My mom grew up across the street from their house before they moved in. I know several people who were his age when he went to school here before he transferred to Exeter or whatever even though our high school was a blue ribbon top high school in the country which is why people move here to begin with.
