So true…. I also think that a lot of people don’t realize how many women singers build to sing so high; well when they try to hit her lower notes as her voice has matured they can’t. I think her vocals are amazing and raw. I’m so sick 2 minutes of vibrato that female singers build up to. She’s a genius on all ends; I don’t think people realized how many people don’t write their own songs. Her falsetto is beautiful, her lower register is rich, and her ad libs are unexpected and unique.
She’s not the most vocally gifted singer. But she knows how to use her voice, she writes very catchy, melodies, and her lyrics have much more depth than I think people give them credit for. I can’t consider myself a Swifty, but I certainly respect her for all the things that she is. She is also a very good role model do young girls and young people as a whole.
@@reagangaines1224 I hear that. She can definitely sing. I think the fact she knows her limits makes her even better. She can’t really belt out notes, but she can hit most of them beautifully.
Nonsense, she shows so much variation in your catalog....from Country to Pop to Folk and everything in between, she writes her own lyrics & songs and most melodies to accompany her songs, and performs them....list the artists who do that other than Taylor. She's a poet! I recently listened to Beyonce, how boring!
Her voice is phenomenal not because of the technical ability but because of the tone and emotion conveyed. The fact the lyrics are so clear and concise and pleasant to hear. That's what I'm hear for. There are lots of ways to be an impressive singer, technical ability isn't the only thing
For years I admired her as a human, but kept saying I wasn't a big fan of her music (I'm a classical music junkie), but I thought she was an extraordinary human being - she's kind, generous, thoughtful, and incredible with her fans. Then a friend said "you've been listening to the wrong songs," and she started sending some suggestions. I am now a huge fan of everything Taylor - she's a national treasure. Keep listening. ❤
This is me I went years just saying Oh I like that girl that does the bleachers song and then I heard blank space and then I really listened to All Too Well and then I heard Style and then I watched Miss Americana and the Pond Sessions and I am at this late stage in my life a total Swifty so late to the game but she is a little bit of a lyrical miracle
This summer I’ve watched a bunch of her tours and acouple different documentaries , ect ,to catch up on her career. I absolutely love that she figured out how to get HER work back.. If you can catch ANY of the one, in the rain, it’ll tell you exactly Who she is and her loyalty to her fans, bonuses to all of her employees… 100,000 bonus for each TRUCk DRIVER(10). Every show is 31/2 hours and how she’s mastered her music and the performances (that she really sings) . I’m 51 and wasn’t into the swiftie scene during her climb. I seriously respect the Woman’s career
listen i wasnt a taylor swift fan until i went to her eras tour (just for the hype) and really listened to her lyrics. ESPECIALLY during the folklore and evermore sets of the tour. ever since i saw her back in april, i’ve been hooked on her music and cant get enough of her lyricism
I wasn’t a fan until I got my daughter tickets for eras and decided to learn the set list so I know all the songs and could sing along ….I did not know how hooked I would get; her story telling is awe inspiring and the TTDP anthology actually made me cry, never expected that. It’s been a cathartic journey
Getting into a story and delivery is everything. She is a songwriter and has impacted 4 Generations of girls/women. This is her gift and purpose in life.
The way she utilizes her vocals to tell the stories in folklore and evermore is so incredible. Her vocals are like the narration of the story and vision she had when she wrote these songs.
Re-watching this after your latest video when you proclaimed yourself a Swiftie. It only took 3 long months lol. I love how you gave her a real honest chance, and how that changed everything. Thanks again to Jamie, who started this Tay Train.
As a singer yourself, you may not love her as much as the fans because her voice was never the main reason we adore her: it's her poetry and intelligence that made her successful. Her early performances are somewhat cringe vocal wise but she's gotten better and better over the years. I also find that her voice sometimes sounds better on some days than others. I like how you pointed out the she can use what she does have very well though. She's great at a nuanced delivery and knows how to enunciate certain words to great effect. I never go in expecting powerhouse vocals from Taylor, but sometimes she surprises us :)
Never heard this song before, and I am not a big fan but ok, my eyes are filled with tears right now. I want to cry and probably will. Brings up all the pain in my life growing up and trying to survive on my own.
It doesn’t take an amazing vocalist to move me but it’s how I get attached emotionally to the singer and the music. I think Taylor has brought a lot of joy to people and that’s the main thing.
It's not meant to blow you away. It's a very personal song to her and that is what shines through in the way she is singing it. She is all about the emotions here. Love it!
So many people think about 16 year old Taylor and don’t realize she’s in her 30s. Her songwriting has always been phenomenal but her singing skills have just gotten a million times better. She’s wildly talented.
@willow.1989 all of the songs at the Grammy museum are phenomenal, but I totally agree with you about out of the woods. It just hits different. I didn't even like that song when it was on the radio. I feel like the lyrics got lost in the production. Just her playing the piano with it gives me chills EVERYTIME
@@kahla3363 Same. It's one of her top live performances imo. That bridge gives me chills. And I'm the same as you - I got tired of the song when it was on the radio all the time, but the Grammy Museum piano version made me fall in love with it.
People don’t give her enough credit. She’s a phenomenal songwriter and even the way she sings is gorgeous. The soft whisper but still so controlled. Her two best albums!
I love watching videos where the reactor starts with ‘I’m not the biggest Taylor fan’ cuz the journey she takes them on, seeing their minds get blown - it’s amazing 😂❤️✨
Taylor Swift won a National Poetry contest when she was 8. Wrote a novel length book at 14 and was the youngest person ever to be signed to a writer's contract by Sony ATV. Andrew Lloyd Webber played her part of the score for a new song for the Cats movie, telling her he didn't have anything for lyrics yet. Taylor told him she knew what that character would say, went off to the side of the studio and wrote the lyrics and top line for Beautiful Ghosts. It's sung in a musical theater style, but you can hear how she uses different parts of her voice. I think you would find it interesting, even if it's not your cup of tea.
Please react to "RIGHT WHERE YOU LEFT ME" and pay attention to the lyrics. Taylor is amazing at painting very vivid pictures with her lyrics. She's, first and foremost, a storyteller. Thank you!
People hatin on her, tellin her she has no talent. But she writes her song, play instruments, make her own rhythm. No cussin on her lyrics, no graphic vulgar words like some artist. Her songs are relatable.
She has a beautiful voice and the best is to listen to her when she plays her songs at her piano or playing guitar. Also she is a genius lyricist and storyteller. She is 150% involved in everything that she does. She’s the leading person of her career which is rare especially in pop.
folklore, evermore, and speak now are my favs!! Also as well, taylor is an alto, her lower notes are the besttt, so flawless and beautiful! would love to hear you react to "peace" and "this is me trying" both from the same studio session off of folklore!
This again, Taylor is not an alto, by the color of her voice alone she is not a contralto, her voice as you can hear is very bright, girlish and high. Singers can develop their range they can work it up and down, She's choosing to sing this low in order to tell the story and the overall mood, if she would be hitting E5, F#5 like she did on lover, the meaning of the lyrics and mood would be tarnished. A Contralto/alto is Cher, Carly Simon, etc. let me assure you Taylor does not sound like them.
Studied voice and been singing competiviely in choirs most of my life, so I do know what you mean when you say that TS isn't the best vocalist out there. But I DEFINITELY disagree with you that she isn't a technically excellent singer/vocalist. Her breath work and phrasing and rhythmic abilities are exceptional. She also has brilliant articulation. She is also one of the best at singing while playing either guitar or piano at the same time. She doesn't miss a beat and she is able to slow down, speed up, syncopate, etc., without much effort at all. So no, she doesn't have the strongest voice... But she isn't vocally bad by any means and her alto register is actually very strong. There are a bunch of her live performances I think you would really enjoy 😊
She has a way of surprising people who don’t really realize the multiple genres that she can and does sing, thank you for giving the benefit of the doubt for you friend and your honest opinion. ❤😊
For this song it's her lyrics that are meant to be the most powerful thing, she's great at NOT oversinging just to show off. If you want to see a different side to her vocals you should check out Don't Blame Me-live Reputation tour, We are never getting back together (rock version) or Out of the woods-both live from the 1989 tour. She's one of the rare ones that sounds better live. There's so many live options that would show you various levels of her vocals (Grammy museum session, live Paris show for the Lover album or any of her tour footage). But the main thing that underpins it all is her extraordinary songwriting.
She actually has a great voice with a huge range, people just assume she can only do one thing off of the radio songs they have heard or her younger stuff that she put out when she was like 16
Idk how that didn’t blow you away. Her voice is angelic and technically controlled, and those lyrics are insanely poetic and paint an image. She’s magic.
I think you haven’t really listened to her words before. The whole Folklore album is fire! Same with Red! Really gives voice to the emotions we all feel when a relationship goes belly up!
Believe it or not she can blow. But she's a master lyricist... a storyteller. Watch some of her live performances from her Reputation tour. I'd love to see your reaction. She will blow you away. Ive been shocked by her.
I am a swiftie. I have been since 2007. I appreciate your perspective as this was recommended to me by UA-cam. This is one of my favorite songs. I know people have commented about her singing abilities. I immediately want to come to her defense because I love her and I love her sound. There are plenty of artist that are insanely talented singers. Some of those singers I just don't connect with as much maybe because their music style or lyrics. They may have a better range according to a trained ear, but I think Taylor swift fans love her so much because of her songwriting abilities and passion for the craft. I am in no way saying I do not think she's a good singer. I love her voice, live performances, etc. I think she's an amazing story teller. I think a casual Taylor swift listener may struggle to understand the appeal to some hits as they think it's just a catchy song. Swifties have an intimate relationship with the music. For example the song "look what you made me do" .. I'm not sure I'd like it if that was her only sound or the first song she put out, but I know what that songs means within the span of her career. Or people hear "22" and think another catchy pop song, but it's on the same album as "all too well". Both songs make me feel insanely differently things. I don't know if that will make any sense to anyone else but I think her music isn't as appreciated by people who do experience albums as a whole or know the concepts. I love the song 22, but again if that was her first hit I might be skeptical. All of this is alls just speculation as she cannot be separated from reality. I think a lot of people feel like she just exploded overnight too. Fans have read her diary entries, tumblr posts, and watched old videos of her pursuing this dream for years and years. She gave us a parasocial relationship before social media. We watched a little girl with a dream make it happen. I recognize a level of privilege she had/has. But people forget that this insanely rich and successful woman was once a 15 year old writing songs in her bedroom. We watch the passion she has when directing and writing. It's a really unique connection for fans. Her personality is also appealing to me. I say this because her work doesn't exist in a vacuum. We also watched her be scrutinized relentlessly, slut shamed, and what Kanye west did to her at 17 years old. I appreciate you saying this music might mot be your thing, but being open minded. I think Taylor swift's success, talent, and fan culture cannot be separated. I'm okay with that because whatever anyone else thinks she's brought something so special to fans that can't really be scrutinized the way a vocal range can. I believe it's a combination of so many things that make her so beloved. I don't say that because I think she lacks talent. She is my favorite artist and also one of the only mainstream ones I really really love. I can't explain it she just has a song to accompany every experience I have ever had as an American white woman that is her age.
I'm 42 only knew her big hits.. never in a million years did I think I would actually enjoy her music! So far I've only listened to reputation and foklore albums and I'm completely obsessed!! She has a beautiful range of music!
I agree, she’s not the strongest singer, but she uses her talents where she has them, to their fullest extent. Her vocals are still amazing how she uses them, her writing, her emotions, her performances….. she’s just amazing! Looking forward to more! Death by a thousand cuts live is amazing!!
No one can write, the way she writes. Each song, each line is so beautifully constructed, and such beautiful inter-weaving of words. It's never just "I love you" of "I hate you" with her. She will write an entire story, construct it, use beautiful words giving us marvellous pieces such as those in folklore among others, and for that, I love her songs.
My daughter recently dragged me to see her Eras movie and I was not at all expecting to find her quite talented. I’ve never paid her any notice, but now that I listened closely, albeit as a captive audience, I realize there’s a lot to like. A few of her songs hit like a master class. And many are spectacular. Who knew? Until recently, certainly not me! Today I saw her NPR Tiny Desk Concert & I was blown away. Now I get it. Totally.
She surprises people. A lot of artist had judged her. Imogen Heap was one of them until she worked with her and saw that Taylor is involved in every aspect of her music and said she's the real deal.
You should watch more of her live stuff! I particularly loved how she sounded and performed on the reputation tour. Especially the song Don’t Blame Me.
i really enjoy your honest reaction. I hope to see more of you reacting to Taylor Swift's. People only know her for her radio songs, but if you sit and go deep down to her discography, she is more than those singles. Yes, even Taylor acknowledges that her niche is songwriting yet when she performs lives, she makes sure that she delivers :)
So, I think, that if you really listened from Rep on, you'd be not only surprised, but impressed. Like you, I have never been that impressed with her technical ability, but she has obviously been working with vocal coaches as well as performance vocal coaches, and she has improved 1,000 percent, and while her biggest strength will always be in her songwriting and her overall ability to produce a total show, I will always listen to her, now- you will be happily surprised as well!!!!
I just wish ppl would accept the fact that not everyone cares about the musicians they listen to being technically flawless vocalists. Music is just simply not about being perfect. The Beatles would not be the most popular group of all time if that was the case. Many people just like voices that are unique, they like lyrics that grab them emotionally, they like singers who can convey their feelings in a way that makes the listener feel like they're singing directly to you. The same way other art does not have to be "perfect" to be popular or make you feel something. Are painters who do realism "better" than artists who do abstract work? Or are they just different and appealing to different audiences?
I think Taylor is one of the best poets of our time. The way she can turn a phrase is up there with Bob Dylan. Her voice isn't the best voice in the world, but she knows how to use it to tell her stories.
She is not a super strong singer, she is poet who uses notes to deliver her poetry. Her power is to make a picture with words and making high poetry available for everyone.
People who are hearing Taylor now are realizing that she is not singing lollypop songs like in the 90s but grown up adult songs. Her talent is in the emphasis on certain words and not screaching everything. Its her tone & word choice that make her talented.
ahh, please react to her Reputation tour! She really showcases her belting vocal abilities during that Era! Specifically please please react to DONT BLAME ME live and/or I DID SOMETHING BAD live ! I think you will be shocked and pleased by those performances! Great reaction btw 🤗
I really enjoyed this video and she is not the most versatile singer but she isn't bad at all as most people think. I think you should react to cornelia street (live from paris) It is one of my fav live performance of her.
If you liked this song, then you should listen to the whole Long Pond Studios Session, she sings all the songs from her album Folklore live. Also, she sits with her two different producers/musicians and talks to them about what each song is about. Listening to why she wrote the songs is very interesting and inspiring. Liked your video and really appreciate you giving her a chance. There is a reason she's so popular it's not just by accident, we love her lyrics her storytelling, and how she performs in concert and she does have a very pretty voice. Remember she started her career in 2006 and was only 16. She's almost 34 now and her voice has matured and her writing skills are genius. I am sure you don't believe that's true, but as you listen to song after song, you will be surprised and may change your mind. After Folklore, there are at least three more albums you should listen to, Evermore, Midnights and Reputation. Also, especially with the Reputation album you should watch the live performances of Ready For It and Endgame with Kendrick Lamar.

I totally agree. Her voice has gotten better and more mature. She’s an alto & alto women don’t get a lot of love in the industry.
The ad libs are incredible .
They elevate the music all the time!
U need to listen to other songs… she does have a range
She has a beautiful lower register, but technically, she is truly a mezzo-soprano.
To me her voice is soothing. I’ve literally played her music to babies I’ve been a nanny for & it makes them fall asleep fast.
@@reagangaines1224 I hear that. She can definitely sing. I think the fact she knows her limits makes her even better. She can’t really belt out notes, but she can hit most of them beautifully.
As a swiftie, I wholeheartedly agree. But she can belt make no mistakes.
@@reagangaines1224peace has chilled alllll my nanny babies and kids everytime!
That’s what I used to think too but I saw her sing a song the other day and she hit a really high note.
This is one of her best songs. I’ll never forget seeing this live. Folklore is a masterpiece the whole album
Yes
“She’s good for the people who like her”. ISN’T IT LIKE THAT FOR EVERY ARTIST?? 😂
Lol I get you but I think he meant like, she does what she does well it's just not his flavor (based on what he had heard prior to this video).
Tay is an alto, no one can convince me otherwise. The meeeeat in her voice is soooooo velvety in the low end.
Getting into a story and delivery is everything. She is a songwriter and has impacted 4 Generations of girls/women. This is her gift and purpose in life.
It's like poetry set to music
OMG, you're confusion on how great her voice is in the first 10 seconds is hilarious. LOVE THIS SO MUCH!
That whole long pond session is gold, sad evermore album didn't have that kind of treatment 😢
That's my favorite album.
Evermore was faster than Folklore. She created folklore right after Evermore
This is by far one of the most beautiful songs ever written. She is a poet.
The way she utilizes her vocals to tell the stories in folklore and evermore is so incredible. Her vocals are like the narration of the story and vision she had when she wrote these songs.
Folklore is a whole vibe. The entire album made me 😳
Re-watching this after your latest video when you proclaimed yourself a Swiftie. It only took 3 long months lol. I love how you gave her a real honest chance, and how that changed everything. Thanks again to Jamie, who started this Tay Train.
I don't get the people that think that every Taylor song sounds the same. Like, look at the lyrics!! Girl's an actual poet
Folklore and Evermore are 2 of the most beautifully written albums I've ever heard! Give them a GOOD CLOSE LISTEN
I never go in expecting powerhouse vocals from Taylor, but sometimes she surprises us :)
and a beautiful person
Never heard this song before, and I am not a big fan but ok, my eyes are filled with tears right now. I want to cry and probably will. Brings up all the pain in my life growing up and trying to survive on my own.
❤
It doesn’t take an amazing vocalist to move me but it’s how I get attached emotionally to the singer and the music. I think Taylor has brought a lot of joy to people and that’s the main thing.
It's not meant to blow you away. It's a very personal song to her and that is what shines through in the way she is singing it. She is all about the emotions here. Love it!
So many people think about 16 year old Taylor and don’t realize she’s in her 30s. Her songwriting has always been phenomenal but her singing skills have just gotten a million times better. She’s wildly talented.
Her performances at the Grammy museum are ICONIC. I could listen to that performance of Blank Space forever
Out of the Woods on piano gives me chills. I love it so much.
Thank you!
My favorite song on evermore
People hatin on her, tellin her she has no talent. But she writes her song, play instruments, make her own rhythm. No cussin on her lyrics, no graphic vulgar words like some artist. Her songs are relatable.
She has a beautiful voice and the best is to listen to her when she plays her songs at her piano or playing guitar. Also she is a genius lyricist and storyteller. She is 150% involved in everything that she does. She’s the leading person of her career which is rare especially in pop.
Her growth over time is astonishing. She is a true artist.
folklore, evermore, and speak now are my favs!!
I highly recommend Exile from the Long Pond Sessions with Bon Iver its magic.
Its her story telling and the unique sweetness in her voice
The control she has over her more mature voice is so gorgeous. This is one of her best.
She's a songwriter that sings. Beautiful in every way! .....and she can also belt it out!!!
We love her for her!
She's an incredible lyricist. Her performance of All Too Well (I believe at the Grammys) is incredible!
She really is a poet, who sets her poetry to music.
This song gives me the chills.
Taylor Swift fans know her best work is deep in her albums not the stuff on the radio.
Believe it or not she can blow. But she's a master lyricist... a storyteller. Watch some of her live performances from her Reputation tour. I'd love to see your reaction. She will blow you away. Ive been shocked by her.
You didn’t realize that as she grows and matures, she is learning how to perfect her songs and she does indeed make beautiful music. ❤
❤❤❤ This!!! ❤❤❤
She will write an entire story, construct it, use beautiful words giving us marvellous pieces such as those in folklore among others, and for that, I love her songs.
i’ll be staying if you do more taylor!!! always good to see men finally recognizing her as a PERSON!! it’s so hard for so many of you to do that
Same
She is a Great Singer, Performer and Beautiful Songwriter!
She’s got some really good low notes in general. I’ll give her that.
I'm a happily married woman and I can't get thru this song without choking up. Every time. Idk how some singers get thru their songs without crying 😂.
Her lyrics are her power. A huge part of the love Taylor receives is from the power of her pen.
I wish more people would be open to listening to her music. She has the ability to heal if you just let her in..
If you liked my tears ricochet you’d love the live version at the eras tour! Is truly a heaven experience.
She was born. Songwriter, so she had to learn the singing part. Age amd experience have improved her voice so much.
This vocal performance always makes me cry. Thank you for support!
She is not a super strong singer, she is poet who uses notes to deliver her poetry. Her power is to make a picture with words and making high poetry available for everyone.
She’s damn good. She writes all her lyrics. She is an extremely talented woman.
People who are hearing Taylor now are realizing that she is not singing lollypop songs like in the 90s but grown up adult songs. Her talent is in the emphasis on certain words and not screaching everything. Its her tone & word choice that make her talented.
This song is gut wrenching and even more powerful in the eras tour. If you see the movie, she really gives more of her range in that performance!
She's an amazing singer
Those lyrics....best song ever, perfectly sung! She sings the songs she writes. Billie Eilish sings songs written for her cheap lyrics.
Taylor touches our heart n soul with her honesty n Bad Ass Lyrics n soft voice n belts when she needs!
One of my favorite songs off that album
ahh, please react to her Reputation tour!
Uh huh! She is awesome….she’s worked hard forever. Pretty cool. Btw, love your show.
Endgame is with future. bad blood is with Kendrick
@@reagangaines1224 Yes your right, I did try to edit my remark right away but I guess it didn’t work. 😂
All her folklore album was sooo good 👍
Her vocal simplicity is a big part of why we love her
2:49 paradigm shift bro
I went down the TS rabbit hole bout year ago, her pen game and the way she switches up her flows got me hooked. Hope you keep ‘em comin
It’s actually about her longtime first manger Scott Brucetta. He was like a father to her! When he sold her master to Scoot Braun…. Listening to her singing the line where I can going anywhere I want but just not home…( her old studio) when you can’t sleep at night you hear my stolen lullabies (meaning her stolen masters) now you want to see this girl belt songs and have low ones too you need to watch the Eras tour you can tell over time she has had amazing voice lessons. Her good songs are not on the radio! Illicit Affairs is another great one! She is the only person that has crossed over into so many categories of music and has done it so well! You may not like her now but you will! Thanks for giving this song a listen it’s my favorite! Oh Majorie is another good one!
She can belt it out. Listen to her background vocals on most of her songs.
The whole folklore album is beautiful
It’s the best you ever heard because you are actually listening to her music. Not just her music you hear on radio play.
