I can't stress this enough... I love your methodology! You explain every single step for those who aren't advanced users without sounding repetitive and also you explain in a very organic way for those who dominate the software. Love it, man! Please, never change!
Thank you for the video. The ability to create custom UV seams is long overdue. It is a little odd to use the terminology of creasing edges as the method to create seams. What I do not see here is a graphic map showing the stretching and distortion after the map has been flattened. As ZBrush is used by cosplayers and toy designers the ability to set seams and flatten the map with minimal distortion to create basic fabric patterns would be very useful. As I watch this I have to ask myself is it worth it to use these UV tools in ZBrush or just use a specialized UV unwrapping app?
Me seeing this after just spending 4 hours hiding stuff & control painting for stupid UV Master... 😭 Thanks Mike, this is going to save me a bunch of time!
thanks for this Michael...is there a way to auto uv pack? i mean i have some sort of Melee weapon with a bunch of subtools, but once is uv unwrapped i need to search and move the uv for each piece manually and is really not time saving.
I can see how it could cause issues if suddenly you wanted to do some more work smooting the model, you'd have to remove the creases or just have twov versions. On the flip side it saves on having to remember more terminology and buttons.
what an overcomplicated way to unwrap some simple geo, same old zbrush, find something that zbrush doesn't do well and create an even longer way to do it badly.
Man am I happy as a education fellow to have Zbrush as part of my Maxon package. I pay for it like Netflix (and less even) on a 6 month basis. I get Redshift, Zbrush, Cinema 4d and Red Giant AE plugins. So far this is the optimum scenario for me. Not good for non-education people or people who pay big money. I think that if they did a cheap subscription model like 99EUR/109USD per year, everyone would buy the Maxon package. It would be in some was a worthy, better rival to Adobe. Since Adobe is overpriced. As long as Maxon doesn't kill the educational plan I give it full support.
How is this function and any way more efficient than just assigning a new polygroup (basically a new uv island which already dictates the seam when flattening it) than to polycrease a uv seam? This seems like a longer and unnecessary step, and it doesn't look like it's relaxing or cleaning the UV. What ever did happened to Peel UV from 2019 ?
it depends what your model is, its great for some things. but for the most part you're going to want to have proper UV's! I have breakdown videos on my channel too if you need help as an early artist.
@@Polygonlin I never said he was..... It was simply an open question if anybody wanted to comment on it. Now if you don't have anything of value to add, please keep quiet
Why oh why the hell does ZBrush have to be so complicated with all these technical stuff to get one thing done. So many shortcuts that I can barely remember and the layout is crazy... I've modelled a dinosaur in it and projected onto a remeshed version and now needing it uvd but everything is so in natural in this program haha 🤦. Doesn't help that you who knows what he's doing is using all these shortcuts and going a little fast which I can barely keep up.. nice vid though
The days of upgrading to a new version and coming to Mike to learn more about the new features is over...
How so?

Mike's teaching style is unmatched! Thank you!
This is great! Filled in the gaps with manipulating UV shells in Zbrush.
Always something new learn in your videos

Crease. Shortest path
How good hey. Very short sharp tips that can be helpful in many ways
Thank you for detailed information, Michael!
This has been the best fucking thing.

you can create them from an external app its a process called external uv mapping or you could create them here.
both are completely fine.
Thank you for detailed info !

Nice tutorial, thanks.

super usefull!!!! thank you

Using the already existing method of creasing for UV seams looks to me like programming lazziness. Other than that, thanks for the walkthrough!

jesus christe. Thats what Im waiting for. I may forget about maya right now ( partialy)
Can I do the UVs from every Layers and compose these layers for one layer inside the Zbrush 2023
Oh thank goodness. Hated trying to figure UV Master..
Hitting Unwrap crashes Zbrush. Anyway to solve it?
Thank you
I want to know how to creat the UV map for a 3D model without the UV inside the Zbrush

This seems like an un-necessary and longer step when polygrouping a section as it's own UV island already works and faster.

Shortest path is a new thing? I never seen it and always wanted it in zbrush lol dont tell me it was always there all along
only thing i wish they add is option to make creases kinda glow or something, just so you can easier see where you put them.
I'm new to 3d, will I be ok to just use the auto UV from substance painter?

Why did pixologic sell? Some things are worth more than making money. Like having integrity. A concept lost on the younger generation
