Hot take, trans and whatever queer is supposed to be shouldn’t be part of a group that’s about sexuality’s that’s aren’t hetero, never mind how “nonbinary” became a thing and Black Lives Matter just shoving itself in there too, where’s the asexual representation? Where’s the representation for people who’re into hermaphrodites? Lesbians, gays, bisexuals and asexuals gotta restart a whole ass group for themselves again cuz they made the mistake of letting everyone in. Pride flag used to mean diversity just from having all the colors of the rainbow but it’s devolved into a mess of shapes and colors that I doubt anyone actually thought looked visually appealing, ironically like always making something too diverse ends up making it ugly since that’s all you concentrate on.

If a kid calling you the wrong pronoun demolishes your self esteem, you are too soft to work with kids. Kids are BRUTAL I've had kids ask if I'm pregnant after I eat a big meal. I've had kids grill me about having a belly, discolored teeth, teeth missing, hair looking a bit out of sorts, the whole bit
Kids literally look for the ways to get under your skin. And they'll DEMOLISH, nay, OBLITERATE you over this.

My mom is a lesbian and as a child the ONLY time she exposed me to LGBT anything was the family pride picnic. And it was mainly so I didn't feel alone in being raised by a same sex couple and I could meet other kids. It was completely innocent. We just went to a park where a bunch of families brought food, blankets and there were everyday kid activities. Everyone dressed appropriately to be around children and nothing was shoved down the kids throats.
I don't think a child needs more than that. To not be made to feel like it's wicked is all you really need to have children learn to be open. 🤷

Like sisters and brothers, completely safe and harmless to everyone else and just wanting to be afforded the privacy rights of any other American. That was the justification even the Supreme Court used to justify their support for the LGBT community.
      Everyone agreed with that precedent.
It's these new entitled activists who seem to ignore their own history and their own elders that are making trouble. Even for trans people! Think about Buck Angel, a trans elder in the community who is 61 years old and lived through the times before and after LGBT acceptance. He is being shouted down and outcast by these kids for speaking out against this perversion. He fought for and won trans acceptance. Now these entitled brats spit on his life's work because they think they deserve better than Buck Angel, they think they know more about oppression and more about being trans than one of the longest running cases of female to male medical transition in US history.
It's so insulting to the community and to the elders and actual historic figures to tell them their work, their arguments, their life isn't enough for these zoomers. That the new generation deserves more than acceptance and tolerance.
That's really what it is. Entitlement.

Middle school children should learn about real, factual biology and puberty for their actual gender because they are going through puberty. Also in high school. But keep this trans ideology for adults. Fine if a teacher is gay and has a husband or wife, no problem for student to learn that. But for any teacher to start pushing their lifestyle and ideology on students is unprofessional and those teachers should be removed.

In 1999 I had a gay 3rd grade teacher. My (legit) homophobic parents had to meet with the principal to discuss this man's private life before allowing me to enter his classroom. I am MORTIFIED that this is something that happened. He didn't talk about being gay, he never even mentioned his husband though we all knew he had one. It's so crazy how the pendulum swings. That man was unfairly treated by the parents and staff at our school. The community now is absolutely in the wrong and it's crazy to me that now it's accepted to be inappropriate in classrooms in the name of lgbt but my 3rd grade teacher couldn't even be a regular teacher without scrutiny in the 90's. Why couldn't we stay in the middle? My teacher needed equality, he need to be treated like every other teacher. He didn't need special priveleges or lgbt books, he needed equality. Exactly, I don’t think there is anything wrong with disclosing you have a husband if your a gay man or a wife if your a lesbian if it comes up. It would be no different if a straight male or female teacher referred to their wife or husband if it came up. That gay man on Tik Tok was a hundred percent right about double standard. I mean if a teacher ends up revealing they are pregnant that could just as well lead to kids asking. Basically, pregnant women and gay couples exist. And they shouldn’t be forced to “hide” it just cause a parent might have a personal issue with that. It’s more so the teachers who make being “queer” their whole personality and want to teach about that to children. We all see that coming usually from the TQ+ crowd or hardcore “allies” of the LGBT. And notice how usually (not always) for most biologically male teachers this doesn’t seem to be an issue and the majority of these “teachers” are biological female: yes I’m including the trans men too in that. Just saying. I see a pattern here. Every time I’ve seen a biological male pushing this on kids, they aren’t gay men or bi men.

Exhibitionist forms of entertainment are in and of themselves sexual, and should be performed in adults only venues, not schools or public libraries in front of elementary school aged children.
For those who continue to say, but THESE drag performances aren't sexual, methinks they doth protest too much. It doesn’t surprise me that they are going after Halloween. I guess the Uber religious will be happy though about the ban. Notice how it’s both the extreme minority sides that have a problem with everything? If you are that worried as a parent or teacher that a kid will see people in Halloween costumes, you should homeschool your kid and not be teaching. Maybe, live in a safe space bubble since that’s what those types of people want? That way the kids won’t have any kind of interaction with the outside world and can never learn to properly deal with any kind of conflict in a healthy manner or learn to socialize with their age group. I’m on the side of parents (the reasonable ones). I guess I just don’t like disturbed people whether that’s a woke teacher (a walking talking contradiction in this Halloween ban scenario) or a paranoid parent whose kid doesn’t even know how to say please and thank you and expects everyone else’s kid to appease their child’s “needs.”

My 5th-grade teacher in the late 1960s was all the kids' favorite teacher, she truly was. It was not until decades later that we learned she was a lesbian and her partner was a 1st-grade teacher, also at our school. Why didn't we know? Because they never talked about it bec it was their private business and not the most important thing about them. They were truly beloved by students and parents alike. My parents liked them so much that they invited them to go camping with us the year after I left her class. They soon bought their own camper and all of us camped together many times and it was so fun. I know, it was the 60s and homosexuals had to hide this back then. I think for them the trade was worth it - they still had each other (they were still together 50 yrs later) and they had the love and respect of everyone they encountered as teachers and good human beings.

It's completely misguided and is a tragic overcorrection, in my view. The drag performances are particularly inappropriate and cringey. But I suspect that is what they tell themselves: we're helping promote tolerance.
I'm sure they fear getting canceled or fired for being transphobic, so their common sense goes out the window when these events are suggested.
I feel like teachers (anyone, really) who happen to be attention seekers and not really lgbt use the nonbinary label to get away with being ridiculous because they know people are afraid to be called transphobic.
I have a longer response from a teacher's perspective as to 'why don't you just teach'. It was earlier today, scroll down a little, if you're interested.

Schools need to return to the basics of teaching academics. It is not their job to form their character and opinions. That is the job of parents. I have seen video after video of interviewers asking young adults simple, basic math, geography and history questions that every child should know, and certainly every young adult should know. Almost none of those interviewed could answer "How many minutes is a quarter of an hour?" and "When did America claim its independence?" and "Who was our first president?" That is insane to me. @@jennifercoopman

When I attended school we had absolutely zero idea what was happening in our teacher’s lives. I didn’t know if they were single, married, gay, straight etc. and that’s the way it should be. Teachers are there to teach. NOT to share their private lives.
It is not their place to teach other people’s children about their sexuality.

I think there should be a general rule that all teachers should not post video/conversations of what goes on in their classrooms. Surely they would know that it would cause a huge amount of backlash and get a lot of complaints from parents. All school boards should have a rule that says something like "Do not post images, videos, or conversations of what goes on in your classroom if you do, you will face disciplinary action", or something like that.

Having a kid find out, months into the semester, that their teacher is gay and has a husband is exactly what I want. There's a person, you know him, you have some kind of relationship with him, and also, homosexuality is a part of his life. I do NOT want a child associating homosexuality and transsexuality with all these camp, queer theatrics. That does NOT help the LGBT community. Being queer is not about dancing around in smoke and lights and shaking your ass, it's about who you love and what kind of life you want to live. Gayness should be normalized, not denigrated, NOR made into a spectacle.

Sex ed teacher here: we aren't allowed to qualify heterosexual practices or homosexual practices. We have to use blanket terms: oral sex, anal sex, and sexual intercourse (any relationship can participate in these activities). We have to use vague language and read from an approved script. We can NOT deviate from the script or we are subject to be terminated. We also can not answer LGBT questions from the kids (even in high school). Yet, the teen pregnancy rate for my county is higher than the national average. Wonder why??

Are the teachers even educated enough to teach. I’m starting to wonder because they never seem to teach the required subjects. They seem to be more activist, less teacher. We need more teacher. Japanese middle schoolers are learning quadratic equations, but Americans are worried about genders and how many labels they can rack up.
