- The Manipur conflict has created for the first time an impenetrable border between the two communities. It is therefore very significant that perhaps for the first time since the violence broke out in Manipur, exactly a year ago, a respected member of the Meitei community and a respected member of the Kuki community came together publicly to discuss the possibility of a peaceful future of Manipur.
The violence that has wracked Manipur for the past year has exacted a terrible price. It has left at least 227 people dead, displaced more than 70,000 people from their homes and resulted in a de facto partition of the state, with the majority Meitei community now living in the valley and the Kuki community confined to the hills.
How can the chasm be closed? Writer and peace worker Harsh Mander discusses possibilities with political scientist Bidhan Laishram and activist Sem Haokip.

This is the best talk show or discussion on Manipur's problem. The humble host and the two humble gentlemen deserve much applause.
I remember our physician practically weeping as she took a sick baby from her mother. We were searching for this farmer couple from their village. It took hours to locate them at BSF refugee camp in lamka. We went there to give some financial assistance collected by the community. Hopefully, they might be somewhere in Moirang refugee camp.
May this episode be the Alpha (beginning) for the word "Shalom" in my home state Manipur. With prayer let us all work together. May God continue to lead Bro Sem Haokip, Dr Bidhan Laishram and Sir Harsh Mander in arranging this program to bring with peace and normalcy to Manipur. I know Sir Harsh and both brothers took some time to come together and do this program since no one has a gut to talk about Peace(Shalom) in Manipur. With prayer, I hope and believe this program will be an architect for a peace process. God bless you all.

It is still echoeing in my ear today. It was on the midnight of May 3rd'23 that my close Kuki fren called and told me he had been chased by some miscreants. After 30 minutes, I came to know to he was already there in the police station for their safety in Imphal. Since then I lost contact with my fren benjamin ❤😭

None of the Kuki-Zo tribals reside in the Imphal valley, and likewise, none of the Meiteis reside in the hills area. Therefore, the official announcement and establishment of a separate administration for Kuki-Zo tribals is seen as the most viable solution. This would facilitate harmonious coexistence between the Kukis and Meiteis, fostering a conducive environment for peaceful neighborly relations.

Functionalists and interactionists have been overshadowed by the interactionists where the social media (conflict and extreme emotions bring lots of drama where people like in reel and real) escalate as an entertaining drama. The more conflicts and heighten the conflicts the more interest and drama where people with vested interest play the part of protagonists comfortably to the best of their capacity. It is not a virtual life but real and very rare, born only once life. Need to control internet of things and also the playmakers conflictionists needs to be controlled by the functionalist of both the sides.
If meitei stop attacking kuki village's war will stop.so far we have not seen that.

Right from the beginning of the conflict, Kuki-Zomi-Hmar-Mizo groups pointed to the CM for his complacency or rather arousing the Meiteis sentiment with half truth narratives. CM's militia, Arambai Tenggol who played a major role in the displacement of multitudes from Imphal have purportedly dissolved themselves by issuing a statement only to come back with members increased by 50 times. Effort to bring the Meiteis to Valley from the Hills was unnecessary attempted from 4th May. Later an exchange of stranded people from both communities happened. All these were carried out under the watch of the CM, but without any word from him. Meitei NGOs show a flip-flop approach to continuance of the CM. As the larger community, their media, NGOs & intellectuals need to play a big hearted role. But the opposite is happening. Hate campaign and name calling in mainstream media published/broadcast from Imphal still continue even today. Without cooperation of State Govt, the Committees constituted separately by Central Govt and SC may face a big hurdle to come up with any substantial and appreciable reports. With no justice in sight for victims from both the communities, the horizon in Manipur is still very dark. 😢
